@@Umbreon,

Flame chuckled. "First we need to find the TV...which, if I remember correctly, Should be in here." He said, pulling open a small sliding door that opened up to a colt cave (Heh heh...see what I did there)

He took Rockshire by the hoof and led her down a few steps. "I have only been here once...a while ago. I was visiting Slide when I had some time off and we spent the whole weekend playing video games." He chuckled.

Rockshire looked completely surprised, looking around the entire colt cave. (I swear, that sounds so kinky...)

"Wow, this is nice. I should do something like for my caverns.", she muttered, walking down to the last step. "Oh, there's the TV! I wonder what kind of movies Slide would have..."

Slide extended a hoof to North. "Well, um, hi. I'm Slide, the host of this...well,.party,.I guess. A lot of ponies...didn't show ul. I had about ten or twelve on the list, but...yeah. Well, I'm glad you could make it, though. I hope you have fun while you're here, at least."

Slide turned to face Cascade. "Well, I have no idea what we were talking about. By the way, what do you do? You know, your talent? I assume you heard me play trombone earlier, that wasn't one of my...best songs, I supposse. I was thinking straight. At all."

The migraine of memories took a backseat when Windy brought his friend into the house and the guitar began to play. Shoots closed her eyes and let the metallic sounds wash over her. Something loud, something strong, something rough. Something without tri-tones. Just about perfect.

After the other colt left, there was a silence much more blessed than what came before. "Yeah. That helped."

Fishing around in the box, she sifted through the feathers until she found the nicest, biggest one, and tucked it into her mane, just behind her ear. Right beside the streamer. She'd seen a few couples that looked like they were wearing each other's feathers out during the day. Maybe it was  a tradition.

"I'm really sorry for yelling at you, Windy," she said, cradling the box. "This letter is really beautiful. You tried so hard to reassure me, and all I did was mock you for it.

"But I want you to take this back..." Shoots levitated out the soccer cleats, putting them on a shelf somewhere they looked appropriate. "And these...and this..." She replaced all the contents of Windy Runner's gift box until the feathers were the only thing left. "I'd give these back to you, too, but I guess you really can't use them anymore." She shook her head, but it was amused this time. Casting around, she saw what looked like a brown-tinted bottle on a high shelf---empty, obviously decorative. She swept it up with telekinesis. Hopefully Windy Runner didn't mind her taking random stuff, hopefully this wasn't actually an important item--but you know what, if it was, this was his chance to prove he meant was his letter said.

"I'll keep this," she said, symbolically closing the box, trapping the bottle with the feathers and putting the box behind her. "I don't ever want to have to wonder if it's the real you  talking to me.

"But the rest of this....that's not the way I want this, Windy. I want you, all of you. That honest, kind, sincere stallion isn't hiding somewhere inside you like a jack-in-the-box. It IS you! And anypony, anypony who says otherwise can take a hike." She reaffirmed the words with a little force.

Her eyes misted over. "Stop beating on yourself, my special somepony--you're a lot better than you think you are. I kinda', like, get what all this stuff meant to you. How much. That you'd give up flying just for me, Windy--not just for tonight, but for---that's...that means so much!" She rushed towards him for what was intended to be a little platonic nuzzle, but which ended up as her pressing her whole length along Windy Runner's, as hard as she dared in leiu of injuring him in his questionable state.

As Lance enters the house he sees that there is a lonely mare and no pony is talking to her. "H-hello ma'am m-my name is L-Lance what is your name" Lance said shyly and cruise about why she was by herself and not talking to the other ponies at the party and felt a little sorry for her.

@@Dawn Stripes,

After Shoots had put the box behind her, with the empty bottle of Cider he had dumped down the drain only a few short hours ago upon first getting home safely inside it, holding his feathers, a massive wave of relief swept over Windy like an ocean spray.

"She accepts me for me, and doesn't want me to change? That's amazing! I will have to truly prove to her that I sincerely am done with liquor, she still seems hesitant on that bit, but other than that, I couldn't have asked for her to take this any better!"

As Shoots continued talking however, reassuring him not to beat himself up and to take pride in who he was, both inside and out, Windy couldn't help but start getting misty eyed too. However, nothing surprised him as much as Shoot's tackling him onto the couch and bearing down on him. About that moment, Windy let conscious thought go out the window, letting his body take over as he met her passion with equal enthusiasm. This went on for several minutes, before Windy's brain finally started asserting control again, and a little voice in the back of his mind finally spoke,

"Windy, you need to stop kissing Shoots. Why?! You've only known her for a few hours, that's why. Take this slow, don't rush into it too fast. Don't do something you'll regret. Would you rather have this one night of passion and gamble everything you've somehow gained, or would you rather have her for many moons to come by showing some maturity right now?  I suppose you're right, I don't want to ruin everything like this."

Breaking away slowly from Shoots, Windy looked into her eyes and said quietly,

"I think that's enough for right now. I don't want us to get carried away, as much as part of me does want that to happen, it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Not right now. Not this soon. I just don't want to rush this too fast, I want to take it slow and let 'us' grow at a healthy rate. Is that ok Shoots?"

Shoots was a little surprised to find Windy Runner's bulk give way under the press from her slighter form. She gave a small yelp, worried she'd hurt him. A minute later after they'd landed on his couch, she started to wonder if it had been accidental at all.

Okay, I need to get up, I really, really need to get up now, I think I just broke my promise to Redheart....any day now Shoots, you didn't come here for this, just get your legs untangled...but really, that would be so much effort, maybe just another second, but that's not really a good reason ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh what'shedoingwhaththehoofishedingoohh...WOW. What was THAT.....what am I supposed to do right now?!?!?....

Her futile struggle finally came to an end when Windy deposited her on his floor with a gentle push. While he looked her in the eyes and spoke some words whose tone carried all the meaning she needed to catch, Shooting Star busily caught her stolen breath.

"Yeah. Totally," she nickered in agreement, backing off a step for good measure. "Uh...way too fast, actually. I'm not mad or anything, but..." she exhaled noisily. She couldn't find a lot of words for what just happened.

"Actually, the reason I came here was to move you again." She straightened herself as authoritatively as she good, patting her mane into place with magic for good measure and straightening the crooked feather. "I'm not leaving your side until you're back in that hospital, mister. When an actual doctor tells me that you're fine, then I'll believe that you're fine. And not before."

Of course, I might not leave you for a good while after that, so long as they let me stay in the same building anyway...but I needed to say something. I need to start taking better care of you just like Redheart said...especially if you're always this accident-prone.

She opened the front door to let some air in. The Hearts and Hooves lights were still going strong---Shoots was starting to think they wouldn't go out until Celestia's dawn drowned them out. "I'll make it a deal," she said, smiling sweetly. "Be a good colt and come with me, and I'll give you a little Hearts and Hooves Day present." She giggled and started mimicking the way a parent would talk to their foal. "No need to be scared of the doctor's, little Windy. They're going to make you all better."

@@Dawn Stripes,

"Oohh, a present! I wonder what it will be? Chocolate? New soccer drill cones? Windy, stop acting like a little colt. I'm sure the present will be a little more... enjoyable than any of that kid stuff. But we have to go to the hospital if we want the present. But I don't WANNA go! Wow, Shoots calling you 'Little Windy' is more accurate than she'll ever know... or hopefully ever know... show some of that newfound maturity and toughen up!"

Gulping nervously, Windy followed Shoots out of his house tentatively, then paused. He had one last thing to do.

"Almost forgot! I was saving this so you could see." Grabbing a half-gallon bottle of Applejack Daniels from inside a cupboard near his door, he said, "This is the nicest alcohol I own, and I was saving it for an important occasion. I think this qualifies." So saying, he smashed the top off the bottle and drained the whole thing into his sink, then walked out of the house with Shoots. "NOW we can go to the hospital! Although Shoots? I don't think Redheart's gonna like that I cut off my guide feathers..."

"Nope! But that's going to be your problem," said Shooting Star with a chipper smile. She moved aside to let Windy out of the cabin, then moved up to his side to make sure he had something to lean on while they were walking--she still wasn't sure how sturdy he was.

It was a nice walk--Ponyville was a pretty place, and even though the streets were mostly deserted, the sound of revelers and the odd waft of music made every corner feel cozy and friendly. The lights meant for backyards and small soirees cast unpredictable illumination in their path--they walked through a graishly bright lane one minute, and were clip-clopping their way through deep shadows under flower-budded trees the next.

Shoots didn't exactly want it to end, and not just because of the drowsy contact-comfort or the quiet sound of Windy Runner's hooves snycopated with hers. She'd been trying to give him his present the entire walk, and so far failed to get a single muscle in tune with her orders to carry it out. I could just back out. You don't have to go through with it. After all, that boquet you sent to the hospital is probably still in his room, if it got there. I could always just pretend that was what I meant.

But you wouldn't be quite happy with yourself if you did that.

Shooting Star worked up the nerve when they passed by the train station on their way to the hospital. The already heart-adorned structure had been adorned with extra-large banners of glitter and pink satin, that looked almost like a trio of hyperactive fillies had gotten arts-and-crafts hooves all over the architecture. It was really silly, but it watched over the couple, and Shoots appreciated it.

What the heck. Just do it. How much could I possibly regret it, anyway? Not nearly as much as not doing it.

She stopped walking, which hopefully would bring Windy Runner to a stop too. She twisted her neck around so that she could look above, into his eyes, as soon as he was still. And took a big breath. "I love you too, Windy."

As the words left her mouth, Shooting Star felt something tickle her horn. She wasn't trying to cast a spell, was she? She looked away from Windy Runner's face to try and see what was going on, even though trying to see her own horn without a mirror was always one of those things...

She gasped. By the time the sound of her own response hit hear ears, the vision was gone, but for just a split second she could have sworn they were standing not in Ponyville, but somewhere else entirely. It had been a wide, green meadow with a rotted wooden fence tracing a square in all directions. Daisies and marigolds lined every crease in the ground. There had been a sun, instead of the moon she knew was physically above her, so real she could feel it on her back. And overlaid with this had been a rush of cool purple, lines of neon power streaking in a playful scatter of yellow and red as if tapping her on the shoulder before dashing into infinity ahead of her. There were ponies there too, the color of...or were...she was losing it already, like a dream.

The sparkly feeling on her forehead was gone.

"Hey, Runner. Did you see that?"

@@Dawn Stripes,

Windy stood there with his mouth hanging stupidly agape, an expression that was quite natural to him, but seemed especially fitting given the current situation. His Special Somepony had just said she loved him, and then something had happened... Something strange.

"Yeah Shoots, I saw it. Don't ask me to tell you what in the hay that was though, because I've got no idea... Your horn just sparked and then I saw an image, just for an instant, and then it was gone... What was that? Did you plan that?"

@,

"Just that very first part." Shoots fished round in the feeling of magic around her, seeing if she could replicate the effect. It seemed kinda' familiar, and it had felt like she was doing something...like her muscles were twitching after falling asleep.

After a couple spark-showers, though, no dice. Shoots shrugged.

"I think it was me, though. I don't know what it means, exactly..." She pawed the ground once. Kissed him on the check, just because she could. "Know what, though? I'm glad you were here to see it. We'll have all sorts of things to do together tomorrow." The future stretched out invitingly in front of her--unlit, like the streets she was continuing to brave with Windy--but for once, the past didn't as identically dark. There was a trail to follow. And somepony to walk it with her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lilly Pool looked suspiciously at Shooting Star. The mare had finally come in, at who-knew what hour, her mane mussed and redecorated.

That alone wasn't enough to confirm anything. But combine it with the sheepish smile and "Hi, Mom," Shoots had used to greet her, and a couple other things, it was enough to worry over. The streamer was tacky enough to be meaningless, but there was a feather just behind her ear. After just one night on the town, Shoots had to come back wearing somepony else! As a matter of fact, it looked about the same color as a pegasus who'd come by earlier asking after her....

But that was just too silly. How much mischief could a filly get into in only one night?

"So," she said sneakily, while rearranging a coaster under her late-night tea to make herself appear uninterested, "Did you find a special somepony like you hoped?"
Shooting Star's mouth popped into an O. She hid the feather quickly, as if Lilly hadn't noticed. "Oh, like, you know, I think I might have," she hedged. Then broke into a huge, helpless grin.

Lilly leaned over her. "Maybe?"

Shooting Star quailed, breaking. "Okay, okay, yes. Totally." The grin kept going the whole time. "So, I'll just go to bed now, I'm a little tired...."

Lilly chuckled and sipped her tea. "Alright, then; I'm happy for you. But Dawn will want to meet him, you know."

The grin stretched even further; Shooting Star was either ridiculously happy, or suddenly unnerved, or both. "Of course," she said, trotting up to her room with a yawn, "That's just bound to go great..."

@@Glaceon,

Ocean gave North a small shy smile. "Hi." She said.

She barely noticed Cascade's reaction...and when she did, her smile faded, being replaced with a slight look of concern. "Hey Cascade...you okay ?" She asked, watching Cascade's rather feeble attempts to hide herself.

North nodded at the mare politely, flashing a short grin before turning his attention to the host. Cascade had her eyes shut, as if simply deciding if she didn't see North he wasn't there. Seems logical. She provided a slight twitch of her ears and an almost insubstantial shrug in answer to Ocean's question.

She gave a slight flinch, despite the kind, concerned tone North held before trotting away, sure he was making her uncomfortable as he was. He was right, too, as far as that goes, but anyhow, when he left Cascade visibly relaxed enough to respond to Slide.

"I... I didn't really hear it, to be honest," Cascade mumbled. "Not over the DJ's stuff, anyhow. My talent..." She hesitated for the slightest second before saying, "My talent is swimming."

((I was waiting for Scamps to respond too, but I got tired of waiting. Also, that should be interesting.))

North smiled faintly, and looked back at the mare. "Yeah, I'm North," he rumbled in his low bass, as if it didn't really matter that much. "It looks like you've got me cornered now. You know my name, but I don't know yours." His soft chuckle boomed with the sound of a muffled gong echoing from deep within his chest.

North seemed slightly surprised that the mare knew his name, but that was betraying the utmost modesty on his part. He was rather well known for giving away ancient, priceless treasures, often providing museums with new exhibits or poor rock-farming families with gold to purchase supplies for harsh winters. Yet he always found it strange to find himself known by strangers. Even when they weren't showing the awe his generous acts usually inspired.
