Teenage ponies?

Hey everypony! I was bored and thinking how cool it would be to be a pony (like I'm sure most of us do every now and then) and I realized, "What does a teenage pony look like and why have we never seen one being canon?" We've only seen elderly ponies, adult/young adult ponies (I assume,) fillies and colts (like CMCs and other fillies and colts IE carrot cake and pound cake. So like I asked before why haven't we seen any, and what would they look like? Also what would they act like?

Well it's never stated what there age is but I assume they're young adults because rarity has her own business and twilight, rarity, rainbow dash, and fluttershy live alone and pinkie lives at her job. Also they don't act like older adults XD

Well there is one problem with that age group and that's the fact that almost every member of the mane 6 live on their own apart from pinkie who either lives in sugarcube corner, or her own house. And applejack, who lives with her big brother, little sister, and grandma.

Cheerilee in the one episode, I think is what teenage ponies would look. (minus the mane and tail though.  They would probably act like regular teenagers.

Since the fillies and colts in the show act like little kids and the mares and stallions act like adults do in our world I think it is reasonable to assume that teenage ponies would act like teenagers do in our world. You would have raging hormones, social clicks like jocks and nerds for example, peer pressure, you know stuff like that.

Lauren Faust actually said while she was working on the show that the main six WERE teenagers... mentally, anyway.

 

 

The thing is, horses only live to be around thirty years old, maybe. They grow up super fast, so it might be difficult to show that intermediate age. I mean, ponies don't get that tall.

 

If you think about it though, perhaps the CMC are more suited to be teens, somewhere in the junior high range? I mean, we've seen baby ponies, we've seen fillies and colts, and we see mares like the main six, and even elderly ponies like the mayor and Granny Smith.

 

 

 

I've always felt that the main six were teenagers, but because pony society works differently, they seem a little more grown up. Most of them live on their own or can take care of themselves, they have jobs, and basically LIVE like adults. But Equestria is also a lot safer than Earth. More so than that, it's not hard to find a job. You take an apprenticeship with somepony, or open your own business using your special talent. You find your niche. I mean, heck, when Applejack was little, she took a trip to Manehattan, with no adult! And her family was just like, 'bye, good luck, we'll miss you'. Because they knew that nothing would happen to her, so long as she didn't do something stupid like take a detour through the Everfree Forest. So long as she stayed in pony country, she was fine to travel wherever without fear.

 

So I would say that the main six could easily be teens, just with adult roles. Nopony is going to let another pony starve or be homeless, so long as they're will to pull their weight. Jobs and housing seem to be easy to come by if they're needed. So really, as soon as you get your mark and want to move out of your parents house, they'd be totally cool with that. It's a different society, and ponies do age differently than humans, so determining ages is a bit relative.

I think when we saw both Cadance and Shining Armor in the flashbacks in "Canterlot Wedding, Part 1" they were both teenagers.  Observe...

I always thought that the mane 6 were around the age as a teenagers. Rarity and Applejack might be a little older then the others. Seeing as they act older.

My thought is that Equestria is more like humanity a century or so in the past.  Back then, having a successful career didn't require as many years of schooling as it does now.  In the 1800s, very few people went to school for a full 12 years or more. Most people started working, married, and began having children before their 20th birthday.  At one time, celebrations like a Bar Mitzvah, Quinceañera, and Sweet Sixteen all marked the start of adulthood.   Today, they're just milestones on the way to full legal and physical majority.  In most of the world today, 18 is now the age when one ceases to be a minor.  I suspect in Equestria this age is probably about 16. 

 

In any event, Lauren has been deliberately vague on the ages of the Mane 6 and I suspect Meghan and the current writing staff are sticking to it.  MLP:FiM isn't like Star Trek where everybody has explicitly set birthdays and an overall firm timeline.  Instead, they're leaving it up to US to decide how old we want them to be in our own head canon.
