gaming Favorite Local Multiplayer Games

It's no secret that online play is a major component of multiplayer games these days (and later days) but try to think back to the times when your friends would come over to just hang out and, eventually (or maybe immediately happy.png), you break out the playstation/nintendo/xbox and start playing some games. Maybe some Madden or Super Smash Bros. Maybe some Street Fighter or Mario Party. Maybe some Tales of Symphonia or Dokapon Kingdom. You're surrounded by laughter, trash talk, and camaraderie; and you enjoy the time until it comes time for it to end. Online play is fine and all, but it's just doesn't have that same feel to it.

I want to know, what were/are some of your favorite local multiplayer games to break out when you have a friend, or friends, over?

Good topic.

My favorites are definitely all the Super Smash Brothers games, Timesplitters 2, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Fusion Frenzy, and the Mario Party games.

Lots of laughs and good times with all of those, lemme tell you.

I have a feeling that Super Smash Bros. is going to be a pretty popular answer. laugh.png

Anyway, my favorites are:

Dokapon Kingdom (this is a seriously fun game even though it takes forever to finish)

the Tales of series (though I've only played Symphonia, Abyss and Graces F)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Definitely among my top 3 for how fun it was even though we only had a party of 3)

fighting games in general (BlazBlue CSE, Arcana Heart 3, Persona 4 Arena being my favorite fighters at the moment)

I played games like Super Smash Bros Melee (And later Brawl), TimeSplitters 2 and 3, Halo 2/3, and more recently (though still quite a while ago), Goldeneye (Wii), Call of Duty MW2/BO, and Halo 4/Reach. I must admit, the times with the Gamecube (And later Wii) was the most fun of all biggrin.png

Though if LAN games count too, then me and my friends also play a bit of Arma II, Arma III, Quake III, GTA IV, and CoD WaW through LAN on computers that are actually rather unfit for running such games tongue.png

Always fun hanging out in a real life situation playing games (Well I suppose more like screw around in the games, but still), makes the game a bit more...well...lively and fun biggrin.png

And yes, I never seem to stick to one game, its more fun having lots :D
