mega thread Last Movie You Watched?

I'm not sure which was the last, but one of the last movies I saw was Repo: The Genetic Opera, which I loved. If you think you'd be interested in watching a sci-fi horror-musical, it's a good one. Not as good as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, though, which is a sci-fi horror-musical comedy and has way better music and, well, way better everything. But still, check out Repo: The Genetic Opera if you haven't.

Watership Down......80's animated version.  Very odd film, and the animation is very dark and gruesome.  Not to mention a sad ending, which gave me a heartache.  :(

The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

Andrew Garfield returns, and spectacularly so, as “The Amazing Spider-Man” for the second time around. Now graduating high school, this film presents us with a much more mature, stable minded, and likeable Peter Parker than seen in the previous film. Though his Peter Parker finally lives up to the name, Garfield’s Spider-Man is nothing less than amazing. Wonderfully acted and delivered with humorous quips throughout. Jamie Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro) still manages to outshine Spidey with an electrifying performance. A flawless delivery, Jamie Foxx portrays the most well thought out character in the new movies yet. The mental instability of Max Dillon is acted out wonderfully, and lets the audience truly feel for the character.

Unfortunately, the Foxx/Garfield combo can’t save the rest of the cast. Emma Stone hardly carries a presence despite holding some touching scenes. Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, however, is simply dreadful. With the emotional range of a turnip and an evil cackle as sinister as a child’s, DeHaan would seem more in character as Holden Caulfield in a motion picture production of “Catcher in the Rye” than the best friend of Peter Parker. The pacing is only decent and the plot is no better. With a paper thin plotline circumvented several times with annoying little movie mistakes, it is Hans Zimmer’s scoring that really saves this side of the movie. Integrated into the scenes with masterful perfection, Zimmer’s scores let the audience wonder where the scene ends and the score begins.

Though, make no mistake, the movie is definitely not as amazing as its name or its score. With amateurish camera effects and lens flares galore, the film is a mediocre 2 out of 5 stars despite already earning $92 Million in the box office. It’s graciously entertaining even if its quality is low and provides its purpose: an enjoyable 2 and a quarter hours of web slinging fun.

All Dogs Go To Heaven: I still wonder how this was a kids movie. When viewed through an adult's eyes, you realize it's about a guy whose best friend breaks him out of jail and then kidnaps a little kid to start a gambling ring to get back at a mob boss that tried to kill him.

Yi Yi: A One and a Two

Beautifully shot, but I couldn't help but feel it was too dramatically slight to justify the 3-hour running time. Still, I have a feeling it will age well in my head. May rewatch it some day with tempered expectations.

7.5/10
