Frostbite tilted her head to one side and laughed a little as she stopped readying her horn "Oh...uh...alright" she scowled, standing by Giants side. "They're trying to blow it up? Couldn't I just...y'know..." she looked up at her horn and then back to Giant with a look of confusion on her face.

@@Steel Accord, Ocean looked up at Steel. "What am I supposed to do ? He's already got everything covered." She said, resting her head back on her hooves.

 

Suddenly, all the trucks stopped...including the digger of course. Ocean frowned and hopped out of the cart, gesturing for Steel to join her. 

She walked up to the front of the group to see Iron Hoof instructing some other members of the expedition. "Iron hoof...what exactly is hap-" She was cut off when she noticed a...river ? There was a massive river running quite quickly just in front of the trucks. "Yep. We have some explosives so we're going to send a couple ponies up the river to blow up the ceiling in an attempt to slow it enough for us to pass." He said.

Ocean looked out at the river and gulped...it was moving VERY quickly...

Steel saw how nervous the water made Ocean. No doubt due to her condition. "I don't mean to be too forward or take liberties I haven't earned," Steel said. "But I could fly you across." Steel offered his hoof with a smile. "Whatever you decide my lady." He tried to make his tone reassuring.

Steel saw how nervous the water made Ocean. No doubt due to her condition. "I don't mean to be too forward or take liberties I haven't earned," Steel said. "But I could fly you across." Steel offered his hoof with a smile. "Whatever you decide my lady." He tried to make his tone reassuring.

 

Ocean shook her head. "I'm fine. I'll just stay in one of the trucks. They're going to blow up the roof of the cave much farther up the river so...it will be like I dam. Its going to be fine." She said.

Iron hoof hear Frostbite speak as several pegasai flew up the river with a whole bunch of TNT. "If you think you can freeze this whole river which is moving faster than you or I could run than be my guest. The water would lap over the spots you have frozen plus the digger would no doubt break through. Think more practically." He snapped.

(Yeah I guessed, only reason I suggested it was because it makes sense for her to consider it)

 

"Well I could always freeze you and toss in your corpse? It won't get us across but it'll save a lot of headaches." She replied without even turning to face him. "And I was thinking more practically - I would suggest blocking a section off, not freezing the water." she turned her head and blasted the ground just behind her, erecting an icy wall between her and the trucks as if to prove a point.

"Just be careful not to get crushed under the falling debris, okay?"

Paradox looked up from laying down to see who had talked to him. "Oh..." He laid his head back down when he saw it was Feather. "Hey there..." He shifted a little bit when he heard her apologize about going off earlier. "It's fine..." He looked at her. "I understand, you were busy and all..."

 

"No." Feather shook her head, suddenly overcome with fierce conviction. "It was wrong of me, and impolite, and inexcusable - I don't know what came over me." 

 

I do, whispered an annoying little voice in her head. Feather immediately quashed it into eternal oblivion. Embarrassed by how cheesy and cliche she had sounded, Feather sat down next to Paradox in the darkness.

 

"I really am sorry." She told him with absolute sincerity, before changing the subject. "How are your terrible war wounds, then? Have they turned green yet?" She grinned to show she was joking before remembering that Paradox might not be able to see her dark, then flicked him gently with her tail instead.

 

Without warning, the truck jerked to an abrupt halt. Feather's hooves slipped out from under her and her muzzle smacked against the wooden floorboards. Her hat slipped forward over her eyes.

 

That's it Quill, starting tomorrow NO MORE FALLING!

(( This will be my only post today, to catch up with what happened ))

 

Moon kept her distance from the truck until she noticed that all the trucks stopped on what looked like a giant river. To her eyes at first, it was quite a sight since she never has experienced anything like that, but eventually convinced herself that its just another obstacle in the way of them and Atlantis.
Though her instincts doubted exploding the river, since it could cause a disruption in the earth itself. Though with her doubts, the demolition team that was brought here were experts right?
Just in a bit Moon took a step forward, but instead decided to keep her mouth shut and stepped back a little to brace for an explosion.

Dox blushed lightly as he felt Feather's tail brush against him, and it made him glad that they couldn't see eachother easily in the dark. He was about to reply to her, but was interrupted when she fell down from the abruptly stopping truck. He quickly sat up and moved over to her. "Feather, are you ok?!" He gently rolled her over and looked into her eyes.

Feather groaned when Paradox rolled her over. Her brain nearly short circuited at the sight of the stallion leaning over her. For a second Feather held his gaze, then she rolled back onto her front and rose shakily to her hooves.

"I'll live, thanks." She told Dox with a smile. "Fine as I ever am. We ah... We should probably go see why the truck stopped."

He gave her a worried smile. "Yeah, I guess. But are you sure you're ok? You took a pretty nasty hit to the snout. It's even bleeding a little. Here, let me take a look at it..." He moved in front of her and gently placed his hoof on her cheek while he inspected her bleeding nose.

All of Feather's muscles tensed when Dox placed a hoof on her cheek. She had to consciously fight for a moment to keep her wings tucked safely in at her sides.

Ocean smiled slightly. "Yea...I gue-" *BOOM* Ocean was cut off as there was a loud noise and a small rumble. The water came roaring down the river in one big wave before it slowed to a halt. "Alright, lets get across before the water finds a way through the dam." Said Iron hoof, climbing into one of the truck's.

Ocean took Steel by the hoof and led him back over to the same truck as before...the ground was still wet so Ocean wouldn't have been able to walk across. She climbed into the truck and held out a hoof for Steel as the other trucks began moving across the riverbed.

He nodded. "Yeah, but just a little. Here, I'll clean it up for you..." He looked around the truck and found a clean towel in one of the boxes. "This might sting for a second..." He was about to start cleaning it up when a large explosion occurred outside of the truck. Dox ended up falling forward and landing on top of Feather. He blushed profusely and started to climb off of her. "I-I'm sorry, it's just, the tremor, and my footing wasn't, and I..."

Giant was entirely in favor of moving on as quickly as possible, but only in theory. It was difficult to keep his eyes closed when the footing was uneven and the path no longer straight.

 

It was too easy to imagine that blockade of rocks, still leaking a trickle of ocean, collasping as the great water hoof behind it squeezed the life out of the blockade and rushed in, swallowing them all and downing them...

Urk! Giant gulped and snorted in frustration. He was not going to be the one to hold up this expedition! He placed one hoof in the trickle and shivered. It came up to his clefts.

That didn't matter. Giant fixed his eyes on his endpoint, closed them, and determinedly strode forward. He was a soldier; an NCO, of course, but a soldier none-theless. He was meant to face fears. He had a contract to fulfilll, and by Canterlot's spires, he was going to find Atlantis if that's what it meant...

 

Pleased, he opened his eyes to view the result of his labor. And looked down.
He was one step into the stream, and the far shore was minimally closer.

Groaning, he shivered helplessly in the wet.

(OOC:  Well that was excellent timing on behalf of Flame Dancer! XD).

 

Feather fell onto her back when Paradox crashed into her, the stallion landing on top. This time, she was pretty sure that if her wings weren't crushed beneath the weight of two ponies she would be unable to stop them from spreading. She wasn't sure if she was relieved or disappointed when Dox started to climb off her, apologising as he did.

 

"It's okay." For one mortifying second, Feather found herself starting to giggle. She stopped abruptly - giggling was for fillies. She couldn't help the grin on her face, though. What is wrong with me? She wondered, then, before her brain could reply: Don't answer that. Just shut up.

 

"It's fine, Dox. I know it was an accident." Already Feather's curiosity was beginning to get the better of her. "Still, we should really see what's going on..."

Moon shook a bit from the explosions from the blast, but noticed that the water from the river went down just enough for them to pass. She was quite relieved that nothing bad happened and let out a sigh.

The only thing she did notice was Giant having some issues with crossing the river. With Moon's instincts of course, flew next to him with a soft landing.

 

When she landed next to him, she noticed that he was frozen solid and his face seemed to go cold, like someone was frightened a lot. So with that she tapped him on the shoulder and replied.

"Sup Giant, you all scared 'n shit?"

Frostbite could hear the ponies in the back of the truck fumbling and giggling, tripping over their own words as they tried to speak with each other. Of course, she had no idea what was going on either, she just saw them messing around in her eyes. 

She proceeded to roll her eyes and let out a rather unsatisfied groan "I thought we where supposed to be finding Atlantis or something, not making friends" she mumbled to herself, taking her position at the back of the trucks as they started to inch forward.

Nightfall drove the truck on silently, not really glancing at Cascade at all. He stopped when they had stopped, had flinched at the boom, and was now trying to get into the line to cross the river before the water collapsed the little bridge; he figured they only really had one shot at this.

"Not much does, as it turns out." She sounded disappointed, but her eyes narrowed at the sight of the dam and bridge. "I... Those don't look like natural formations. I don't understand it."

"Not much interesting, that is; there seemed to be a good deal of smaller things, or ones that I noticed."

He looked at the bridge, and kept driving towards it.

"And they're not natural. Didn't you here the explosions? They took down part of the roof to make this."

Giant saw no particular reason to give the little runt any of his attention, partiularly as there were more important things around him. Then again, on one hoof, a little insubordination might have distracted him enough to get across this awful thing and rejoin the front tip of the convoy. Then again, at his age, your back didn't bend as easily. He was far too proud to be quite that pragmatic about it. If she wanted to be a nuisance, let her be one on her own time.

"Well . . . " Steel put his other hoof to his chin. "I would like to attain a title that hasn't been held for close to a thousand years." He said with a chuckle. As if to acknowledge the ridiculousness of his goal while still being committed to it.

"Ok, sure." He began to walk to the back of the truck when it began to move again. He poked his head out and saw they were crossing a river, and a pony-made dam was blocking most of the water. Temporarily, at least. "Well, from what I can see, that blast was dynamite." He looked back at Feather. "Oops, your nose isn't taken care of yet." He got the towel in his magic, walked over to her, and gently dabbed her nose.
