"Welcome to my farm, Evergreen." Apollo said  as he looked over the pony with the green mane. As he did he squinted his eyes and frowned a little. "Own a garden eh? Interesting." He said as he turned his attention to another guest.

 

 

Evergreen laughed. "Not just any garden. Mine rivals those of the Royals in Canterlot. It's the most magical garden in Equestria, I think." She peered at the colt with keen eyes. "And I'm not one to brag lightly. My whole life has been dedicated to that place. You have no idea."  She sighed, and glanced around. Her cheeks had gone slightly pink.

 

Come on, Eve, don't be this open in front of everypony about yourself. Remember what everyone calls you behind your back. Crazy mare who talks only to her plants? Yep, and that's all they'll see when the realize you're you. You ain't got a chance finding a nice colt here if that happens.

 

Eve took a small step backward, posture far more diminutive now, seeming suddenly as if she wished she hadn't spoken.

Apollo let out a friendly laugh.

"Wow, I must say that sounds like quite the garden. You must show it to me sometime. I also admire the fact that you dedicated yourself to your work like that. It shows tenacity which is something that I, and the guards, like in a pony." Apollo said. 

Was she just being flirty? No, she is just shy. Must not mistake the two. He thought as he cleared his throat a little.

Mordecai looked around. He was starting to disdain the ponies even though they didn't have any interactions with him. He sat down and patted the side of his head with his hoof. Mordecai then started to fiddle with the grass out of boredom.

Fire couldn't help but look at the green mare as she approached Apollo...she was beautiful...even covered in dirt. Flame noticed this and cleared his throat loudly. "Wha ?" Fire said, as if she had just snapped from a trance. Flame sighed and approached Apollo. "I feel like I should introduce myself a little more formally...Flame Dancer...even though you already know that as I said it before." He chuckled and held out a hoof to shake Apollo's.

Apollo looked over the pony.

"You remind me of someone i knew in the guards...sorry...just thinking out loud. Anyways, hello again Flame." Apollo said with a croaky voice. He respected Flame's attempt to be more formal. He then thought about his previous statement.

Crystal's ears perked up at that last statement. She was really fascinated with dragons. Her fascination began about two years ago after meeting a really nice Pegasus couple. She only met them because Nexus, bold as ever, was 'helping' her make friends by introducing her to random ponies. They were the first to not dismiss them. After a bit of conversation, Nexus asked them how they met. They told a story of how they met on vacation to some vets private island, and her interest really piqued when they mentioned a potion mishap that caused them to turn into dragons. Crystal finally spoke up in the conversation. She addressed the green stallion, dressed unusually sharply for a trip to the market.

 

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, what was being a dragon like." Crystal asked, shy as ever.

"Quite interesting. Most notably the sex. Which was awesome!" The green Pegasus answered in a goofy tone. This earned him an eye roll from his wife.

"Well, dragons aren't known for half measures." Nexus had chimed in. The two laughed for a bit, leaving Crystal with a mental image of what that would look like, and the blue mare with a MEMORY of what its like, causing both to blush. The Pegasus stallion wrapped a foreleg around his wife.

"You know I'm just teasing you, sweetie. Anyway, it wasn't all great though. I sort of went...ballistic. Ended up ransacking the entire home in a fit of greed and rage. Luckily, Star here was able to help me come to my senses."

"Why would you do something like that?" Crystal immediately regretted her words. She shrank a little and spoke up again.

"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that, I mean, um, like, why would dragons loot stuff?" The stallion waved a dismissive hoof.

"Its OK, I knew what you meant. Dragons by nature are very greed driven, and grow on negative emotions. So when it was love that flooded me, I changed back...more or less. That was the beginning of Kor's existence." He said, stroking his chin in remembrance.

"Who's Kor?" Nexus asked. The next 10 minutes were spent explaining the events that followed. Up to the night following the proposal.

"I would love to finish this story, but we need to get back home soon. The kids get fussy when we are gone too long. We can meet up later though."

"Definitely. My name is Nexus, by the way, and this is Crystal. I don't think we got your names."

 "My name is Max. And this lovely mare is Star Song."

 

Crystal remembers that day well, it was the first time she made a friend since Nexus 4 years prior. She enjoyed their company, and couldn't wait to learn more about dragons. Plus, their kids were fun to play with. Interesting eyes though...

 

(OK, so this is here to establish the connection my OCs have with each other, the interest in dragons Crystal had that could play an important role later, to explain dragon nature, and for my own amusement. I wont color code my OC's dialogue unless they are talking to each other. And I avoided controlling Star Song as much as I could, simply because Star being 's OC, I didn't feel right controlling her without permission.)

Rockshire looked a bit at this new pony once saw her coming up to the barn. An alicorn, hmm? And by simple guess, he's the homeowner of the place.... Not to mention that he's also the host...

 

"My name is Rockshire. It's an honor to be here, Mr. ...?", she replied, wanting to know what his name was.

"General Apollo..I mean Apollo...Its good that you could make it." Apollo said as greeted the Unicorn mare who had an orange mane. He tried not to let the guard pony in him show in front of the guests, but the behavior had been programmed into him. 

 

Apollo looked around and counted eleven ponies, himself included. 

we are missing one guest. He thought as he leered and frowned at the group.

A small nervous smile flitted across Eve's face at the compliment, and she stopped trying to avoid the colt's eyes, some confidence restored.

 

"You can see a small part of it now if you want. I'm wearing one of my finest specimens." Her tail flicked towards the flower behind her ear. Her cheeks were still slightly pink under her thick coat of dirt.

Eve flicked her tail in a simple hello to the siblings, in whom she had caught a brief movement in her direction out of the corner of her eye. She'd have to say hi to them personally later.

"Well, general or not, it's still an honor to meet you, Apollo. And I'm actually glad I'm here... I did need to get away from the high life of Canterlot. This farm here is quite quaint, if I say so myself."

"Hey thats a pretty flower...smells nice too." He said as he retracted from Eve's personal space.

dirt on her face indicates my theory of her being a hard worker....wait did i just invade her personal space without her ok? He thought

"Apologies, didn't mean to get so close to you so suddenly." He said as he turned his attention to the other mare.

The pink in Eve's cheeks finally showed through the dirt, but she shrugged and said, "It's no problem. And thanks." She took a deep breath, then said, "It's a Star Rose, plucked from the meadows surrounding the Crystal Empire. It's basically a breathing ruby, see? I'm close to figuring out how to breed more of them." She smiled softly, picturing, no doubt, her own Crystal Meadow in her garden. Edited May 11, 2013 by Glaceon

"Oh, it's been fine. Just perfectly fine... To be honest, I never go into the main square of Canterlot anymore...", Rockshire admitted, scratching the back of her neck. "Usually, I would, but lately, I've just been inside my home for a while... Nothing says home like a giant cave, right?"

 

While she was talking, she glanced over at the mare who was also next to her, eying the odd flower in her hair. What a unusual flower... It's so... mesmerizing... Maybe I should make my next sculpture that... This... rose...

"Fascinating. You know those flowers might look good in my room. Do you sell them?" Apollo asked with a smile. He tried not to stare but the mares appearance was starting to grow on him. He then quickly turned his head to Rockshie and coughed, covering his mouth and face with his long wings.

"U-Understandable. Sometimes Canterlots gets me flustered at times. Looking at all those ponies...laughing and socializing not knowing of the true dangers out there...Sorry don't mean to sound like a stick in the mud." Apollo said as he quickly turned around.

 

"All right, we have waited long enough outside. I can tell you are all tired from the trip. Time to show you the barracks...i mean you sleeping quarters." Apollo announced. He then trotted to the far side of his barn. He then revealed a second big building. It was long and wide like a guards barracks. It was painted red like his barn but had various designs on them. Apollo awaited at the entrance to the structure for the guests.

Dusty had been looking around himself to see what kind of ponies were already there.

 

He saw two ponies with fiery manes, who seemed to be siblings. There was a brown-red unicorn with an orange mane, she stood next to a yellow unicorn mare, who had a leaf-green mane and a flower in her hair, he could tell she sure liked to work with plants and flowers.

 

He looked the other way to see a red unicorn with neon-green hair, she was holding a lot of art equipment. A Night Blue Mare with a Cutie Mark, which looked like Musical Notes and a big Blue Ribbon in her hair stood next a Light Blue Pegasus with a mane, which was colored in both light and dark green. She had a Paper and Pencil as cutie mark, she must like to write.

 

Not far from the barn stood another stallion.with a white fur and a red mane, he looked like he had seen a lot of the world as well.

 

"So many interesting ponies here" Dusty thought with excitement. "So many creative ones, too. Art, Writing, Music, Gardening... a really great composition"

The Host had said the he wanted to show his guests the place, where they would be going to sleep for the following time and walked over to a second Building, which was quite lengthy and painted red as well.

 

"So these are the sleeping quarters, sure looks big." Dusty said.

Fire noticed the looks that Eve and Apollo shared and her heart sank...it was obvious Eve was straight, like every other mare Fire has liked. She shuffled her hooves but there was a pat on her back...which she had expected. She looked up and saw Flame who knew exactly what she was feeling...because he was always there to help her. He smiled at her and she gave a small smile back before the two of them followed Apollo to the back of the barn.

"I have plenty of other lovely flowers if you'd like to have some. All grown with care, nurture, and magical encouragement to be the biggest and most beautiful flowers they can be." She smiled. "Ponies have told me my garden feels alive. Literally. That's how much magic goes into raising my chil- my plants." She turned slightly pink again, and turned away from the pony to hide it. Don't make them think you're weird. She trotted a few steps away to try and take the attention off herself.

Night Song looked around, admiring the well-kept farm. She was about to walk off to explore, when then all a sudden somepony backed up into her. She jumped and spun around in midair to face the stallion who had done so. After a few seconds, she wasn't startled and gave the stallion a smile and a light laugh. "It's alright," she said.

Fire looked up and smiled slightly. "Hello...you're name is Evergreen...right ?" She asked.

 

 

Evergreen nodded, and raised an eyebrow. "My friends call me Eve." Her tone wasn't cold, no, definitely not cold, but it didn't really make it obvious whether Fire was allowed to call her Eve or not.  "I'm afraid I don't know your name." Eve's voice remained rather more diminutive, as if the original nerve she had had when she had started talking to their host had abandoned her.

Rambler decided he ought to get to know the other ponies he would be staying with, so he walked over to a nearby group of ponies. Approaching a blue mare towards the edge of the group, he smiled and introduced himself... again.

 

"Hi, I'm Rambler. Your name is... Night Song, right? You said you were a musician, I believe?"

It wasn't until after saying this that Rambler realized she was already talking to somepony else. But he wasn't going to let that deter him.

 

"And you're... Flame Dancer, right? The one who doesn't eat cooked food?"

Fire smiled and shook Eve's hoof without a second glance at the mud. "So...where ya from, Eve ?" She asked, trying to make conversation. Fire couldn't help but admire the mare...she made sure she was discrete about it but Evergreen was beautiful...even with all the mud.

Flame smiled at Night before looking at the colt who had just walked over. "Yep. I'm all about eating healthy so my sister and I stay on a raw diet." He said, grinning. "And I am afraid I don't know your name...you may have introduced yourself earlier, but I have forgotten."
