The Great Gatsby revolves around the drunken escapades of millionaire Jay Gatsby during the height of the Roaring Twenties, a time of economic prosperity and partying.

The film features music from Lana Del Rey, Kanye West, Jay Z, Beyonce, Fergie, Florence and the Machine, Andre 3000, Emeli Sande, The xx, and various other artists.

Has anyone seen this/planning on seeing this? I love these tracks from the movie:

 (this one is exceptionally great)

I'll be honest, the book I read in high school was pretty well written and clever.

However, this adaption seems to be too much if you ask me, this book has been made five times into a movie, and none have done well.

What really kills the mood for me in this adaption, is the use of too many big name celebrities, music that don't quite belong in the movie, and parts that seemed generally pointless.

I will give it credit, out of all the attempts, this one was the closest to being great, it's just the problems that plague this movie.

But maybe it's just me, overall, after seeing it, it's ok.

Quite honestly, I thought the book was awfully hard to swallow and it is possibly one of my least favourite books. For some reason I love the works of Shakespeare (I even go to see actual plays every so often) and George Orwell, but I disliked every moment of The Great Gatsby.

While I don't have any desire to rain on anybody's parade, I don't think im going to see this film. I can pretty much guarentee to you all that it will likely be much better than the 1974 movie though...
