gaming Will not being able to use used games for Xbox 1 inhibit sales?

The Xbox 1 now ties games to your account and you are unable to use used games unless you pay a fee that costs as much as the game, do you also think this will cause more people to turn to pc gaming? with all the steam sales they practically give games away!

Well, I heard Sony had their stocks go up after the Xbox one reveal. So.... yea. I'm really disappointed with the reveal. I have a feeling I will be getting a PS4 over a Xbox One ( What kind of name is that anyway? ). I have a gaming PC so if the PS4 is disappointing I can just play on that or my other consoles.

Is that true? I read something different.

I wouldn't buy it anyways, after trying PCs I realized both the machines and the games are far superior to consoles. As well, you aren't required to buy a subscription to play your game online (for most games) and you have way more control over the whole thing.

I know people rant and rave over not being able to play used games but.........the price difference is so minimal in most cases is it really that bad to have to play only new games?

Dang, if that's the case then that's pretty lame. Microsoft is rich enough as it is, so I don't see the need to implement all these new money-making ideas. At the same time I guess we can't blame them; making money is the main purpose of a corporation after all. I can see more people picking up PC gaming due to this.

Can we get a source on that the fee will cost as much as the game itself? The overall aspect doesn't appeal to me one bit, but a source with some numbers and facts will help to support this claim.

With my limited laptop, PC gaming is still a ways off from what I used to experience on a console. As the options PC offers are so great, and the lackluster reveal of this next generation console, I can see gamers either keeping their 360 or moving to try out PC gaming.

Costs are always an issue though. As great as PC gaming can be, how much you put into it will affect what you get. Some 8 years ago the 360 was released. 8 years is quite a long time in our current time when it comes to technology. Sometimes it just isn't feasible to make or add PC gaming as a choice.

The dollar amount of the fee has not been made public yet, and I seriously doubt they would charge full retail price to install the game at a friends house. According to this Wired article, or at least what I got from it, it will function similarly to Xbox live accounts in the way that you can't be logged in at two different places. For the game, it will be downloaded on to your hard drive using up the one time "code" (they haven't specifically identified how the one time thing works yet) use that comes with the game, installing it at a friends house would make them have to use a fee to get another one time use "code". If anything the fee will probably be close to a rental fee. I'm guessing anywhere in the $0.99-$4.99 range.

IT is a rather big price difrence. 60-70$ new vrs 40$ or less used.    And how long or high that FEE will sit on tha game.  Will Xbox  still want you to pay full price a year down the road?  Yes probly if they can get away with it.

I kinda went to PC when PS3 came out and have not regreted it. Yeah there are some PS3 games I want to play, but when PS4 comes out and PS3 prices plumet I will be picking up some good stuff cheep.  Paitence Pays some times.

I hate to disprove the main topic of this thread, but I'm going to do it anyway. Microsoft has confirmed there is NO fee for used games.

Have a reference.

Well which is it? Does it play restrict used games or not. I mean it's a pretty big deal when the vice president of microsoft confirms the fees. As far as this debacle is concerned, I swear MS has some of the worst damage control.

I'm gonna wait until E3 for some actually legit info to clear this entire mess once and for all

They really shouldn't have made playing them such a hassle, having to connect our console to an account all the time isn't what a console should be about, the ability to just put in games and play them should and they're really inhibiting that, they certainly won't get any sale from me.

In Sweden, the difference is usually more than 30 bucks. New games cost between 40-65 bucks.

So yeah, unless they somehow get around the swedish entertainment tax that adds 25% to the price, I don't see myself getting many Xbox1 games.

Then again, with me soon going to live on my education loan, I doubt I'll do much console gaming at all- it will likely be mostly playing handheld old favorites, and possibly some SNES if I can get a tv that can take care of that for a cheap price..
