Think I make my heads a little small... *glares*. Maybe I'll give it another shot later on.

 

Oh! And this was the first pony I've ever drawn using a skeletal base. I think it really helped me out!

I HATE TWILIGHT'S MANE AND TAIL. The lines are just so simple it makes scaling hard for me >:|

It's easy to scale when there are many swerves and spikes, but when it's just a simple stroke, I'm dead...

 

Oh well...guess it's good for practice.

I'm not sure if it's better, but what I will say is that I've made a creepy looking Twilight Sparkle.

I know I'm jumping on this bandwagon pretty late (it's still technically the 11th for me!), but I figure any little exercise will help me hone mah pone skillz, so here's my AJ...I'll do Twi tomorrow or something.

 

Face is a little rounder than the original, but I've never been exceptional at drawing by eye.

I've never had much luck scanning pencils. It looks a lot better to me in RL, than what's ended up in this image. Oh well.

 

EDIT: Actually, that's interesting. The image looks better posted, than it did in the paint program that the scanner sent it to. Huh.

I'm back! And this time, I've sketched Twilight 

 

She was definitely a toughie, being in that pose and what not. And the EYES. Ugh, Twilight why must your eyes be so hard to draw! 

 

Anyways, all and all I think it came out fine, but I know the coloring is off. I had to make use of the colors that I had 

 

As always; comment away! Practice makes perfect and advice makes it even better

Okay, this one isn't my normal for of art, but I did it. To avoid confusion, I just did this one on paper. I kind of screwed up on a couple of things, mainly the face composture and the Cutie Mark. However, I think it's pretty good. I hope you like it!

Oh dear, Twilight was indeed a bit more difficult than Applejack was, but I think I managed to do a decent job.

 

 

The main problem I had with this one were the lines on her tail, I'm pretty bad at drawing long lines like those ones. I also had a little bit of trouble with her 'pose leg', but I still think it turned out pretty good!

Here's the answer for you, !

 

I'm not familiar with the "pen tool" on photoshop (I draw with mspaint like the noob I am) so I can't really say what's off limits for that software. Just no tracing... you don't learn/improve very much when you just trace  I am a strong supporter of freehand!

Your drawing is very lovely! Though I must say... if you're looking for critique and tips and ratings then you should create a topic in the Fan Art section and seek it there. That way, you'll get more than just brohoofs

Well after seeing 's drawing, I got inspired to try up another Twilight.

After looking at the ref. pic again, I browsed through DevArt and found a vector that I liked...

 

so I drew up my reaction to having Twilight as the reference pic..

 

 

Also found a way to finally get her mane to work for me, sad that I only found about it now 

Looks at the shredded paper in the disposal...

At least this one came out to my liking

I can only point out two things. 1. I can guess that you gave the snout a realistic look, however, it looks too cubed, for lack of a better term. 2. The left eye, (and this happens to me a lot as well.) is a bit too left. All in all, nice work! Hope to see more from you!

Well here is my Twilight. It seems everything always goes according to plan except ONE thing. in this case it was her head (a bit big) and her bottom jaw (too long and flat). i guess it's a learning curve and now ill pay closer attention to these specific things

   Don't sell yourself short buddy,

the reason I was inspired by your piece was BECAUSE of how well drawn she was

The only thing I can see that could use some sprucing up, would be to just darken up her pupil a bit more, 'n try to get it as black as possible. But I think even that is probably more of a preference
