It's funny because you're misled.

PlayStation will continue to have free multiplayer. Idiot.

Sony even said themselves that they do not like when you have to "pay" for online play.

Oh, yeah? And where is your source for this? When did they say that? Because, according to Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony, you do indeed need a PS+ membership to play multiplayer on PS4.

I've played all of this current generation's consoles, but was mainly on the Xbox 360, but after the stuff Microsoft pulled (and even if they changed) I'm not going back. I'm going to the PS4 and playing Steam. I knew that Sony had the better console, just all my friends were on the Xbox, but that's changing right now.

Goodbye Xbox, hello Playstation.

You are hereby awesome, sir. That little line at the bottom lifted my heart.

Faith restored in gamers.

I love PlayStation, and whoever has a problem with that can go jump into traffic.

I hate to say this but yes you do need to pay for multiplayer BUT and this is a large butt. You don't need it for any of the apps or social stuff like streaming or letting your friend take over your game. You also get awesome deals from playstation plus that I haven't seen anywhere else perhaps for steam

It's funny because from what I've heard, multiplayer will be free.

PlayStation will continue to have free multiplayer. That's what I heard from E3.

If I find out that you have to have PlayStation Plus to play online, then they will not be having my $400.

It is confirmed you must pay to play the online multiplayer, everything else is free. They are doing this so they can improve the servers and in return we will get the same benefits current PS+ users get. Lets be honest, Sony has been losing money on PSN because they didn't have enough money to keep it top notch since it was free and guess what most people did? Not pay for PS+. This is just a tactic so they can put more money into improving it and maintaining it and in return to entice the user with free games, discounts, etc.

I was gonna buy the Xbox One anyway, I actually did my research and the DRM policies on the Xbox one were to enable some really cool features that are now GONE because the internet has a problem with the internet.

Here, I'll explain. The 24 hour check in could have been done while the console was on standby. And it would have been a 3 second thing even if you get 2Kbps internet.
And it would have enabled Family sharing a group of up to ten friends can share games amongst themselves. If say everybody in the family group pitched in 6 dollars (assuming games will be 60 dollars) One person goes out and buys the disk/downloads the game EVERYBODY in the family group now has that game. But now because of a combination of Microsoft's Shitty PR department and peoples hatred of doing research. NOBODY gets family sharing downloaded games are exclusive to the console that downloaded it, And the disk has to be in the tray to play a game. All because people cant deal with not having Slightly cheaper games and cant deal with a tiny check in.
I Hope microsoft decides to put a opt in for these features because I for one can deal with a 24hour check in.

And heres where you people are gonna hate me. I DON'T SUPPORT USED GAMES.
All it does is deprive the game developer of money in the long run because.
When you buy a NEW game Some of the money goes to the retailer some to the game publisher and some to the developer.
When you buy a USED game the pervious chain applies. BUT, this time someone played it and sold it to the store for 6 dollars.
And the store is gonna go ahead and make 40 dollars off that used game. But now the developer and the publisher GET NO MONEY
The game could be selling like hotcakes used but because the publisher and developer see no money they dont know that.
And now the developer has less money to buy better equipment hire better people and build a better game for the next.
And the publisher sees the game as a failure and might not approve the next game from that developer for sale.

Beh I hate the used game argument. They are big company who gives a whoop if a couple of people by used. It's not as bad a problem as they would have you believe. It just always come off as "oh no free trade" to me when they say that

Reggie has some good advice in terms of the used games issue. It is true to the fullest extent because if the game is good enough, people will be more prone to hold on to it, as in make better games.

If publisher's and developers hate used games, then they should follow Take-Two and Nintendo's philosophy: Make better games, or make games that people won't want to sell, add to the replayability

Meh, I applaud the move, but I don't plan on getting either. The games I like all either don't translate well to a console or are smaller indie games that are only developed for PC, or both

Yeah, I mean after that huge hack by Anonymous, I understood that PSN was pretty much losing money. Then again, I don't find any of this stuff surprising (paying for multiplayer and stuff). Then again, I just now got PlayStation Plus, and my mom might continue to have it subscribed, so yeah, I will probably just get the PS4 anyway. I think that everyone should just pretty much accept the new rule of "paying for multiplayer".

Key word being "might." This still isn't driving me back to Microsoft any time soon. At this point, I believe their only redemption would be hardware backwards compatibility, and if that comes to pass, they've got me back.

To be honest though, all the butthurt and publicity are hilarious to read. I'm gonna stay on the fence for a bit longer.

Yeah, they should. And maybe, they should not call everyone who says a supposedly negative thing about PS4 an idiot. That'd be a step in the right direction.

Either way, it was a good decision, in my opinion. That was one of the major reasons a lot of people preferred 360 over PS3; it's online service didn't suck. And, it seems PS+ members get a bunch of benefits, as well.

I love PlayStation Plus. They have tons of benefits, including the free games.

Shoot, I just got Saints Row: The Third yesterday from PlayStation Plus! I love their choices of free games!

It feels good to know that I wasn't the only one who actually wanted DRM. i wanted to do the game sharing with my friends and family but now that is all taken away.

I am glad about it. I wish I could feel sympathy for you, but then again, I wouldn't have wanted those DRM restrictions. I hated them, and if they hadn't removed them, I wouldn't even CONSIDER getting an Xbone.

Meh, I don't care for factionalism and blind loyalty and who did or didn't "win the console war". I just want to play games and enjoy myself. I don't care enough about the politics of what amounts to very fancy toys.

Microsoft added some policies that didn't sit right with me personally (regardless of any benefits it may or may not have had), and so I wasn't going to buy one. Then they took them off. So as far as I'm concerned, everything's groovy with me again, and I may just buy an Xbox now.

I'm also planning to buy a PS4. Both systems have exclusives that I'd like to own, and so I'd like to have the best of both worlds. Microsoft made the Xbox attractive to me again, and that's all that matters to me.

But that being said, I'm also not made of money, so in the end, it's possible I may not even get either system.

@@KonohaLegend,

Hello there. We already happened to have a thread for sharing our opinions on the Xbox One and the Playstation 4, and for comparing them to each other and other consoles and such, and as this was the subject of your thread, it has been merged with the older one.
