Just a random thought at the back of my mind, but I've been thinking, perhaps having Red becoming brainwashed by this "mysterious force," and becoming a villain, kinda like Nightmare Rarity? Thing is, I don't think it will work because I still want Red to struggle with his dilemma with Applejack and Neon.

Don't mind me, just brain farting. Don't think it'll work out as well as I thought, though.

 

While I like the idea, I don't think it would be able to work in the story. Still, don't worry, as I've got plenty planned for everypony!

To be honest, I feel really upset when I'm excluded from something, every time the best option is to not do it at all.

I think I might have to drop out. This isn't definite on my mind yet, but I'll leave it hanging in the air until I make my decision.

Look Budding, I'm really sorry about this. I wanted to keep waiting for you too. If you really want to drop out of the roleplay, I really wish you would reconsider. Sterling can't go on with the plot if you aren't there. I need you to keep the backstory going. If you drop out, then where will Sterling be? What do I do? I need you here Budding. If you... really do want to drop out, then... I might have to drop out too. Unless there is a way for me to reincorporate the plot somehow. But that seems like a very tough task at the moment.

To tell you the truth Budding, I face some of these same feelings as well IRL. I don't know what exactly you're going through, so I won't pretend that I understand your exact situation, but I do want to let you know that we are all here for you. I NEVER intended to exclude ANYONE. I think everyone here is great in their own different way, which makes this RP so diverse and exciting. 

 

I'm here for you Budding, and if you need anything you can PM me. I'm not going to force you to stay in the RP, but I can say that I would love for you to stay.

Sorry to everyone here that I didn't post replies today. Went to the racetrack all day today, and right when I got home, hopped on iRacing for a league event, pulling off a 7th place finish.

I will say this; sometimes, I get the feeling that I'm being left out/left behind, due to the fact that I can't get on here as often as everypony else seems to. However, I just do my best to insert myself in again, cuz I know that everypony isn't doing it on purpose and I can't expect everypony to wait for an entire day cuz I can't get on til the next cuz of work.

So, how did you guys conceive your original characters? Like how did you create them and all? For me, Red Talon was actually a lot more different than he is now. Back then, he was more a satirical character. Basically, he was a race pony based heavily on Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights, a satirical movie about NASCAR and southern culture. Therefore, had an appearance more of that of a stereotypical NASCAR fan. His red and yellow colors were switched, and his coat design was much less... talony... giving him a sunburned look. He also had a mullet and a dirty looking mustache. In addition, his name was different. I named him "Sunburn Bo" to further capitalize on his satire of redneck culture (as most people call it nowadays), but eventually, I felt something wasn't right about the character. I guess I figured a sillier character that is based off a Will Ferrell character would cause people to not take him seriously. Plus, I wanted my OC to reflect myself more, so I revised the design. I dropped the satirical part of the character, reversed the red and yellow, got rid of the mullet and mustache, and gave him a new hairstyle that is a lot closer to my own. I added some of my own personalities and "flaws" to replace the satirical, Ricky Bobby like traits. I figured he needed a new name, too. So, in reference to his status as a racer, I found it fitting to name him "Red Talon," due to the revised, talon-like marks that you see on him nowadays, and in reference to go-kart brand, Red Talon. Despite this, the manufacturer does not design racing karts, rather, off-road and recreational karts.

For me, the beginnings of Sterling Crimson was who I was going to model after. I thought the easiest person to model after was me. Sterling and I have so many similarities. 

1. We're both biology majors and trying to go into medicine.
2. We both have autism
3. We both want to treat girls/mares with love and respect
4. We're both hopeless romantics
5. We both see red as our favourite colours.

And so forth. I never had a plan to ship my OC, but then Evening Glory came along first and I decided to ship him with her because of Evie's shy nature and cuteness. It was a fairytale story of epic proportions! Over time, I also had a fondness for shipping Sterling with Blue Note because of how much I could develop their relationship in their university days if it happened (see Rhapsody in Blue).

In the beginning, North was actually designed to be me ponysona...  Though over the past (about) year, I have changed him little by little, making him more of an original character~

 

Some similarities we share, I guess would be...

 - That we often prefer night before day...

 - Cold, snowy weather more than hot, dry and sunny...

 - Our favourite-colour which would be blue...

 - Neither of us are of the social type, and sometimes struggle with understanding certain common topics...

 - I guess our way of speech would be similar to a degree, though IRL I might vary a lot as I'm not really completely bound to any accent (except form an American one, which for some reason have simply become impossible for me to keep up, even though it was default for many here when I was younger... I blame Doctor Who and Britain in general.)

- And a lot more that could be considered spoilers for those who want to learn about him through RP's, though his adult self would of course be a lot more like me~

 

The biggest change from him as my ponysona, I think happened after I got the image I use as my profile-pic commissioned... It is actually a chibi-pony, but at this other site where I begun RP'ing (PonySquare) others seemed to get the idea he was a cute little one... And I took it to heart, and made him from being an adult to his "child-sized-though-not-as tiny-as-he-is-now"-self~

I still do have his adult self in mind - I have a lot of things planned out for him already, as well as a few changes I recently have thought out - some of them might get involved later on in the RP if I get the chance~

 

So yeah, that be his story~

Well, I came up with Clover as a character for an RP I was posting in on another forum. In that RP, she's a filly. xD I also used her character in my unfinished fanfic as well, basing the storyline on the RP. She's a bit like me, in that she's a bit antisocial and prefers to spend time alone rather than socialise; finds it hard to make friends; is creative and inventive. I chose her talent for creating spells cuz I love to write and come up with interesting plot twists.

Just in case anypony's interested... here's the first chapter of my as of yet unfinished fanfic. Warning: Do NOT be put off by the fact that my fanfic has an alicorn OC in it; I worked very hard to make him realistic and not overpowered. He appears properly in later chapters, which can be found in the creative writing section of my gallery.

I will get a move on and finish this one day; I have planned out the chapters and it's nearly done, it just requires a lot of spare time which at the moment, I don't really have, to type it all out. Everypony, I have some bad news. I really regret saying this, but... I'm leaving the fandom. It really makes me feel sad, because we've had so much fun together. I've loved every minute of our adventures, and I can hardly bear to let them go. I fear though that I will have to, which is why I need a successor to continue the roleplay as the leader of the group, as well as someone (the same person or someone else) to take the roles of DJ and Vinyl. Please PM me if you're interested, because I want to at least see that the story continues, even if I have to go. I have lots of plans for the story, which I will give to the leader. Also, if anyone wants to take up the fanfic and finish it, please PM me also. It'll be a day or two before I go, but then, I may be gone for good.

 

I'm sorry to leave you guys, but I have my reasons, that I feel it would be in my best interests to leave.

DJ... the point of roleplaying is to have fun. That's why I felt that having "leadership" in a roleplay is never a good thing. We're all supposed to have fun and work together as a team. That's why I never liked the idea of leadership in RPs. Everyone's supposed to be working together to advance the plot in their own way. The united plot will still exist, but it's up to everyone to contribute to it, not just one person to dish it out to everyone.

 

That's why I feel we shouldn't be asking for leaders in this RP. What we really should be asking for is cooperation and teamwork. Everyone should be advancing the plot, not a select few. That way, everyone's involved.

I agree there to a degree... We will still need someone to kinda point in a direction as to where things will be going. Like now I have no idea what the adventure is going to be like, as there is nothing that tells North and the others where to go and why - like being told where Evening is, and she's kidnapped or something... Other than that, it shan't be too hard to work things out~ 

Then again, I guess we could also cooperate on this decision as well, e.g. I could propose that Sombra is behind this all, because shadowy ponies.

I didn't expect you to leave so soon and sudden. But I respect your decision and hope you can remember us bronies later on when you're into the next big thing. 

 

I'm definitely gonna miss you buddy, it's been a great RP and I've had a lot of fun RPing with you. It's sad to see you go, but again it's your choice. Perhaps someone can take over DJ and Vinyl for a bit and then just have them leave or something. Like, Vinyl gets sick and DJ takes her home to take care of her, as an excuse to leave the RP...?

I just had a couple of things to say. I have to be honest with you all, and I'd be lying to myself if I didn't say it.

 

First, DJ offered me the role of new leader of this roleplay. I refused the role because I felt that it would take me over the limit of what I felt was a fun roleplay. Plus, I had MCAT obligations and I had already set a limit for myself on how much I could roleplay. Becoming a leader would severely compromise this limit. 

 

What also was a catalyst to my rejection was this fact: this roleplay wasn't as fun as A Tropical Odyssey. Something was missing from this roleplay. If it was the sense of adventure, then it is my fault. I gave too much time to the wedding and it slowed the roleplay to a crawl. When I read DJ's plot as well, I shuddered to think what would happen next. It went completely against my perception of a roleplay and it was something I could not execute well. The roleplay was simply too dark for me to handle. I'm a happy person. Sure I know there are trials and tribulations, like the ones we witnessed in A Tropical Odyssey, but to go as dark as he did... I just couldn't handle it.

 

Finally, this roleplay has become an emotional drain for me. I don't know why. The other roleplays I was involved in never had this drain. Maybe it was how dark this roleplay was overall. Maybe it was the fact I made Sterling snap so much because it fit his character well given the situation. Maybe it was the fact I read reports of people feeling left out. Roleplays were supposed to be fun, but it didn't feel fun for me anymore.

 

At this point, I have decided for a hiatus from this roleplay. I will not post back here for one month. I will post back on this roleplay once I have completed my MCAT examination. By then, my head will most likely be cleared and I will be able to roleplay here again.

I agree about thy break, and I actually think everyone would do well with a break... You know, take a break off from this RP, and return with fresh minds and new ideas in about a month... And if people will, we could as always have smaller RPs amongst ourselves and others in the meanwhile~

Sounds good to me. Although this is probably the best RP I've been a part of (I've been in like 4), I do have the feeling that people aren't having fun anymore. Several people have had problems or just aren't in the right state of mind to continue. I myself have thoroughly enjoyed this RP, and everyone who has been a part of it.

 

Unfortunately it seems as though this is not the best time to continue the adventure, due to every one's own special circumstance. If we need a break, then so be it. If the break is forever, so be that as well. Of course I hate the idea of everyone leaving after all the work and heart we put into the RP, but I don't want people to feel as though they are obligated to participate. It's supposed to be a fun, relaxing way to get your creative juices flowing and talk about a common topic - My Little Ponies. I wouldn't want anyone to feel sad, depressed, or stressed about this RP.

 

I'm glad I've had the opportunity to RP with all of you that are leaving. I myself am staying in the fandom for a while, since it is still fairly new to me. I will be on the forums if anyone wants to PM or RP with me in a different setting. I will continue this RP for as long as is needed, until we figure out a plan.

I feel that this will not be a forever thing. I'll be roaring again in a month when I'm done my MCAT. All I need right are relaxing roleplays. When I read DJ's transcript of the plot, I was just traumatized. It was really dark, something that was the equivalent of 2 advanced roleplays. He put so much effort into this RP... And I don't have the emotional strength to go through it. I need positive thoughts, not sadness and sorrow. Once my MCAT is done, then I MAY CONSIDER leading this roleplay. This is particularly because DJ made me the first choice. I turned it down because of MCAT and emotional stress like I said previously.

Overall, I like the darkness of this roleplay. The show itself has some quite dark and emotional moments, but I think the overall darkness goes really well, and makes it very, very interesting.
