Rainbow approached Cosmo. ”Hey, I think Swordpoint and Crimson wanna talk to you. You should go see them.”

Cosmo was slightly surprised by Rainbow's words. He realized the three of them had become much closer as friend than he'd acknowledged at the Dark Tournament , a realization that made him proud and gave him a greater sense of belonging on this journey. He followed the two into the ship. When they were in a good room to speak, Cosmo spoke up, "Rainbow Dash said you guys wanted to see me. What's up?"

Swordpoint and Rainbow landed gently on the deck. Swordpoint looked around for Crimson and approached him. ”Crimson,” he said calmly, ”I have plotted a course. The seas are calmest to the southwest, so we should begin in that direction. Do you possess a sea chart?”

Besides, considering I was almost devoured by an alternate dimension just last week, I think I can handle a boat ride to a lunatic's castle." Cosmo had a cocky look on his face and started to walk out of the room, muttering about having his certainty questioned. "I'm glad to see you're still so humble," remarked a sarcastic Altair. Cosmo just laughed, he didn't know the dangers ahead, but he knew he'd adapt to them, or like he said; fulfill his purpose. The simplicity of those outcomes gave Cosmo the serenity that kept him from worrying about the battles ahead.

Umbra is a powerful force, and I cannot allow him to live, lest he threaten Equestria in the future." He smiled. "As for Rainbow... she is here by my side. And she understands the importance of this task. She said so to me at the foot of Radio's monument. No, my friend, we are here to stay. And I believe it will do you some good to have us watching your back. You are prone to rage, and letting your rage drive you can lead to disaster. Now, about that sea chart..."

Crimson looked at both of then with a look of surprise for a moment before grinning and chuckling, "I'm glad to see I have such fathfull freinds to watch my back, especielly ones as stubborn as you, but I guess your both right.....I do have somthing to live for, to get my sister back!" Said crimson bravely before turning to swordpoint, "and yes swordpoint, I do have a chart, its in my mapping room..." said crimson.

Swordpoint nodded. "I would like to see it. I will need it to plot an accurate course." He sighed deeply. "It is well that I have researched the art of nautical travel. Why, I did not even know that there could be land beyond the endless oceans. I was always led to believe that they were the ends of the earth." He chuckled warmly. "How strange that must be to hear for one who travels the sea as often as you. Do not be discouraged, however. I spent most of the past week researching nautical navigation. Twilight was quite helpful, allowing me to borrow her books and assisting me in locating what I needed. In addition, Rainbow and I flew several miles out, taking note of the seas and weather. I shall see us safely to the Red X."

Lyth finishes her meditatin and looks around. Cosmo had left her. Again. Perhaps I shall inscribe runes in his door to ward off stupidity. Then he won't be able to get into his room through the door. She shakes her head, Know, his IQ is too high for that. Oh, that's Rainbow Dash. Must be buisness, then. She clears her throat, "Miss Dash, are you anticipating a combat role this adventure?"

Rainbow withdrew a small knife from behind her wing. She held it up and stroked the blade. "If I need to. Swordpoint's taught me a few tricks, and I'm definitely not a weak little filly. If I have to kill, I'll kill." She smirked and replaced the knife. "Plus, we've been working on magic for the past year and a half. I can finally cast some spells, but nothing really strong or useful. They're mostly pretty minor ones." She extended her wings and began to glow with a rainbow colored aura. She clenched her teeth, trying hard to focus on the spell. She tried to cast it, but she lost the energy. She eased herself and began to pant. "Damn! I was so close!" She looked up at Lyth. "Oh... bet you've never heard of pegasi casting spells before, eh?" She smirked again. "Well, Swordpoint taught me that even pegasi can cast spells, too. We just have to use our wings like unicorns use their horns. The only problem is that wings can't really work as well as horns, so it takes more effort. It's easy to overexert yourself and pass out... or die."

Crimson nodded, "excellent, if there's anyone I trust to get us there, its you swordpoint, but that's enough flank kissing! Let's get back on deck to finish the headcount before they abbandon us, once were finished, we can then set sail and chart our course." Said crimson with a grinn before walking back out onto the deck.

Cosmo was returning from his meeting with Crimson and Swordpoint when he walked in on Lyth and Rainbow's conversation. "Sorry about that Lyth, Crimson wanted to speak with me. Waht was that about pegasi using magic? Isn't Cadence an Alicorn? Anyway I was hopping you could show me how to make those amulets. I could probably enchant a few of them myself, and save you the work. It not like my carpentry is needed at the moment."

Swordpoint approached them calmly. "Pegasus magic is a very complex subject. I trust you have seen my abilities in my battles during the tournament, Cosmo." He smirked and teleported behind Lyth. "Rainbow is still learning to use magic. I have practiced for years, attempting to master its difficult ways." He teleported again, this time next to Rainbow. "As I once told Radio, I envy unicorns. Your magical potential is nearly limitless, as your horns are excellent conductors. They allow the unicorn to gather magical energy with little effort, whereas I often must fuel spells with my own energy." He extended his wings and closed his eyes. He began to glow with a golden aura, and when he opened his eyes, they were glowing bright gold. "This is the art of gathering energy. You may notice that every unicorn has his or her own unique color when casting magic. The same is true with pegasi." He released his spell, and a set of white armor enveloped his body. On the chestplate was the symbol of Celestia.

 

Rainbow smiled. "Hey! You got her to make you another set!"

 

Swordpoint nodded. "Yes. If I must, I can absorb this one as well."

 

"Heh," Rainbow began, "that looks better than the lame old suits of armor that the guards get."

 

"That's because it is," Swordpoint said very matter-of-factly. "It is made from pure magical energy. It cannot be destroyed through natural means. I trust it will serve me well." He extended his wings again, and the armor glowed before disappearing as quickly as it came.

 

(OoC: Monster post! And it's mostly Swordpoint showing off. lol

But anyways, I thought it might blow Lyth's mind a little, which would be kinda funny )

"Envy? So flight, cloud walking, general agility, higher endurance, and the numerous other advantages pegasi are born with just aren't enough for you? Limitless is a lie. I can't cast spells of too high complexity and I too can be forced to weaken by body's reserves for spells. As far as advantages, Earth ponies seem to have greater physical powers like speed, strength and endurance, Pegasi get flight, other various magical abilities, and a limited grasp of magic, Unicorns get magic to make up for naturally weak bodies. Don't be too envious of us, you've got some abilities I'd like as well."

Swordpoint looked around but found no sign of the weapons specialist. Well... I suppose I could eat for now.

 

The door leading below deck opened and Rainbow stepped through. She trotted up to Swordpoint. "Hey, is there anything to eat, yet? I'm starving!"

 

Swordpoint motioned below deck. "Yes, I believe there is a mess hall below the deck. I suppose I should join you. I cannot find the weapons expert."

 

The two of them went below deck and found their way to the mess hall. They sat down at a table next to Cosmo and Lyth. "Cosmo," Swordpoint asked, "have you seen the weapons specialist? I must speak with him."

 

Rainbow looked at Coral. "Hey, you're the cook, right? I'll take a plate of anything you're serving!"

Raze walks up on deck and looks for swordpoint. He sees him and walks up to him and says. "I heard you were looking for me. " "sorry I was in the forge working on something new. " "what can I do for you would you like me to help you with something?" Than raze crossed his arms waiting for a answer.

Sole was bored of sitting around and waiting for crimson to finish the headcount. "Dammit hothead... oh well, I guess I'll talk to someone while I'm waiting." He mumbled, as he quickly flew down and landed on the deck. He quickly spotted equinox and walked over to him "hey equinox, deranged been any trouble?" He asked.

Swordpoint chuckled. "I suppose you are correct. I never had the chance to enjoy my natural talents, as you know." He sneezed loudly. "My apologies, but it is quite musty in here. I will be above deck if anyone requires me." He turned and headed out onto the deck, where Raze approached him.

Swordpoint tensed for just a moment, but then remembered Crimson's words. "Ah, yes, you must be Raze, our weapons expert. I do apologize. I have had very... negative experiences with minotaurs." He relaxed and gazed out over the sea. "How skilled are you with making explosives?"

Cosmo was still standing next to Swordpoint and simply stared at him and Raze, not saying anything or showing any change of expression. In his head, Altair was much less quiet, "Go on Swordpoint! The suspense is killing me and I'm a bucking immortal!" Cosmo internally rolled his eyes and started to ask his guardian, "Have you forgotten that I'm uneasy with you beca..." but Altair cut him off saying, "Oh don't be a hypocrite, you thinking the same things and you know it!" Despite his best efforts, Cosmo couldn't suppress a smile at the rebuttal. "Fair enough. Seriously Swordpoint, what are you blowing up?"

Lyth looked at them both strangely, but she thought too long, because Swordpoint's attention became comprimised. She sighed and scooted over to Rainbow, "Legend has it that Candance was a pegasus before she was an Alicorn. Swordpoint is a very proud pony. I hope his pride and honor won't see him undone. He shines of a pony to long in the sun's radiance." She makes a sign with her hoof and shrugs off the weight in her mind. "My magic is not from my own energy. It's gathered through thoughts focused in prayer; a gift from nature or, in this case, the moon. Very few Earth Ponies can even say they have that kind of affinity. Most of our magic is gathered slowly over time and worked into our muscles. However, as you'll notice from my lack of muscle mass, I use it for different purposes."

"Note...this might be unpredictable so stand back a bit" Equinox said as he shot the fish and it grew into a floating cooked piece of stake.
