gaming Super Mario World Hack: Dry Bones World

Some talk in a "Piracy" topic got me thinking about this.

 

Years ago I was really into a Program called Lunar Magic, which was a program for modifying the maps of the SNES game Super Mario World. With a few customized Graphics and this program, I scrapped together my "Dry Bones World" game. I never worked on it all that much, so its still in progress. Its more of a random hobby I have on and off from time to time. Its pretty fun. Thought I would share some screenshots and my Overworld Map.

These screenshots are not much, but its what I have right now. Didnt feel the need to go get tens of screenshots for every aspect of the game.

I used to play the heck out of SMW ROM hacks, and even made a few (crappy) ones of my own. Overworld editing always confused me.

 

Say, did you make the graphics on your own, or download a premade? Just asking because they look nice.

They were all made by a guy from SMWCentral called IceGoom. All I did was the map and the levels lol. I never really got into the technical stuff. I TRIED. I made a really mediocre one where the character was a Bony Beetle, and Icegoom saw it, and volenteered to just make me the Dry Bones GFX. The "redrawn" graphics were pre-made (released to the public) but as far as I know, I am the only one with Dry Bones graphics.

I also used to play around with SMW hacks. I even tried to make some on my own but as KKR said, Overworld editing was confusing in my opinion. So most of the time i was playing other users smw hacks. =)

Ah. Either way, I like the way they look. From what I can see in the screenshots, the overworld design looks nice. After all, pretty graphics mean nothing if you can't use them well, right?
