Arianna picked at her salad, not wanting it to disappear to quickly.  She looked up and hesitantly took her two cards, still a little confused as to how this was supposed to work.  She left them in front of herr and went back to eating while she waited for everyone else.

Klarix held the cards, gazing silently at the swirling eye design on the back. She'd heard about the divine uses of tarot cards from her book, but had never really been interested enough to purchase a deck. She lifted her head, waiting for Moon Crypt to give the order and turn them over.

Scorpiok sat there and ate slowly of his food despite how hungry he was, after he had eaten a fourth of the salad Moon Crypt the changeling inquistor said to them to pick two tarot cards from the deck he took out, he choosed two of them seeing that it would be true that they would need to pick twice considering that he said that they would only get those two tarots their whole life.

Upon entering the hall, Lume promptly spotted an empty chair for her to take a seat. It was a rather large table - large enough for all the guests to feel comfortable, and it would still have unoccupied seats. As she sat down, Moon Crypt distributed bowls of salad and, afterwards, began explaining about the Tarot powers and its deck of cards.

 

Lume was thinking about Lord Moon Crypt's explanation while she chewed a few leaves of lettuce. She had heard a little about the Tarot cards before: something about fortune telling. However, she wasn't a very superstitious pony herself. Well, it could also be merely coincidence... She thought, observing as the others picked two random cards each from the two shuffled decks scattered on the table. But honestly... It has been really hard to doubt anything they throw at me anymore, so I guess I could give it a shot...

 

The earth mare swallowed the lettuce leaves and proceeded to pick two cards from the table, dragging them closer face-down, and then awaited for further instructions from the inquisitor.

midnight shrugged at being ignored, he didnt see anything that struck him as particularly appatizing took his bottle thanking moon crypt for it,  and turned, walking back into the bedroom and found a comfortable spot next to fen and opened the book he had been given, and started to read, about a seemingly easy to use spell.

Arianna frowned, watching him leave.  She wondered how he was dealing with the sudden changes he was facing.  She looked at her half eaten salad.  She quickly finished eating it before excusing herself from the table, telling herself she would return before it was time to look at the cards.  She quickly followed Midnight to the bedroom.  She climbed onto the bed next to his and glanced at the title of his book.

Midnight noticed arianna out of the corner of his eye, "hey." he smiled, "shouldnt you be with the others? with the whole card flipping things?" he wondered why she had followed him out here, not that he didnt mind, some company would be nice, and if she could provide it, he was content.

"I finished eating," Arianna shrugged.  "And I think it's gonna be a bit before they get to the cards.  Why aren't you out there?" she asked.  "I'm pretty sure your cards important as well."  She smiled, getting comfortable on the bed.  "So, what are you reading?" she asked.

midnight shook his head, "nahh,i doubt their important." he smiled softly, "a book one of the inquisitors gave me, its about changeling magic, some of it i think i can preform, others....im not so sure right now....but then again, this is all very new to me, and my body changing in some places....its just..scary."

Arianna nodded, understanding to some extent.  "Maybe something good will come out of the change," she whispered.  She hoped so.  She could tell something was happening, to all of them.  Nexus was different, Midnight was different, she felt different.  She let out a sigh, setting her head down in her hooves.  "The whole situation is scary."

Midnight looked over and smiled streaching out a wing to pat her softly on the back, "hey, but at least we are all friends right? we can all survive through this as long as we have each other." 

He shook his head, "its just that, for the longest time, i told myself i wasnt diffrent, that i could be normal, that i can be normal, even with this hoof, mabey it was just a weird gene..." he sighed, "but i am diffrent, i am not normal, but...im starting to realize, that wasnt such a bad thing after all."

he didnt move his wing for the longest time, then realized and quickly pulled it off and folded it, "ahem....s-sorry.."

Nexus finished off his salad, and idly stared down at his Tarot cards. He pondered what they could possibly be on the face. He then turned his attention to the others-specifically Lume. He might as well get to know his friends better. And he did consider her a friend. Be it from kindness or desperation, he could not tell. So much has happened in the past day that he could not keep track. Not like it was the first time he was thrown into strange situations, this was just the biggest, and the first one to involve others. He scooted over to sit next to her, being mindful of others.

 

"Hey." He didn't know a better way to announce himself, so he went with simplicity.

 

"So uhh...if you don't mind the intrusion, what were you doing before Moon Crypt found you?" 

 

That's an OK thing to ask, right? Nexus had near no social experience, so beyond the basic, he had no idea how to interact with others on a casual level. His skills were killing, healing, and surviving, not friendship.

Arianna shook her head.  "Being normal is overrated," she laughed softly.  "I don't think you could look at a single pony here and say, 'oh, that pony's normal.'"  She smiled warmly as he lifted his wing.  "It's not issue," she said.  "You're right.  We've made it this far, what we face ahead can't be that bad."

Midnight smiled, "i like you arianna, from...well if you dont mind me saying this, but your scars, each one tells a story to me, that youve been through alot," he smiled and blushed a little bit, "i know you hide them for a reason, i dont know what that reason is....but..." he sighed, "no....im...just being stupid and insensitive.. illshaddupnao."

Arianna smiled.  "I hide hem because of the memories they hold," she said simply.  "They do tell a story, one only certain people know."  She looked down a bit.  "You're not insensitive, just curious.  Scars still hurt, long after they've healed.  Everyone has scars, some just less visible than others."

Midnight sighed, "i...when i was drawing them....i....i found them beautiful....i dont know why....i know they hold painful memories, but...they just made you look beautiful." he blushed and hid his face, :"i know i know, im coming on a bit strong....but...i dont know, i find myself flustered around you."

Arianna blushed, a little shocked by his sudden confessions.  "Oh," she smiled.  "Thank you, I guess."  She laughed softly.  "You're different," she smiled.  "And I like that.  But I'm nothing special.  I don't expect anything from you.  Just be yourself.  It's fine."  She found herself stumbling over her words, wondering if she was even making sense.

Midnight smiled, "arianna, i know this is a little sudden, and i understand if you dont like it, but....you are special, a very special somepony, to me." he shook his head, "i dont know, im....new to these feelings, hell im half a changeling, i should know how to navagate around words like this.....but....im just at a loss and fumbleing for the right words."

"Honestly," Arianna smiled.  "I don't know what to think.  But I do like you.  We have our differences but I don't think those differences matter to each other."  She smiled warmly, lifting her head from her hooves.  "And I would be honored to be your special somepony."

Lume kept staring blankly at the cards she had picked, wondering what her "Tarot power" could mean - if there was any - and forgetting about the food once again. She tried to remember exactly how she ended up in that place, and trying to somehow relate the events mentioned in Princess Twilight's diary with all of those ponies being oddly gathered at the same place. At that point, anxiety was starting to gain power over the earth mare: she unconsciously started tapping her hoof on the floor. However, she was able to notice somepony approaching, and drift all of her attention to said pony. For her surprise, it was Nexus.

 

From all of the ponies in that place, Nexus has been perhaps the kindest to Lume so far. After she treated him - and all the others - pretty roughly, she thought she wasn't going to be given another chance. Luckily she was wrong, since the bat pony was giving her, not only a chance of reintroduction, but a lot of encouragement as well (something she very much needed).

 

"Hey." He didn't know a better way to announce himself, so he went with simplicity.

 

"So uhh...if you don't mind the intrusion, what were you doing before Moon Crypt found you?" 

 

"Oh, not at all! You can ask me anything." Lume smiled warmly. She was glad Nexus came talk to her, so she had some sort of distraction for the time being. "Well... The last thing I can remember was waking up next to the entrance of the city. Soon after, I was already welcomed by one of those aberrations... With no weapons, much less any idea of what was going on, I just... ran. I ran as fast as I could until I couldn't anymore. Everywhere I hid, they found me. It didn't take too long for me to drop down to the ground and... well...wait for something to come and end my suffering."

 

"Then... I blacked out again, and woke up a few minutes later feeling the warmth of a fireplace, with Lord Moon Crypt patching up my wounds." Lume looked down to the floor. "He saved my life... I should be dead right now. I had already given up... But how could I be just so stupid??"

Arianna laughed softly.  "It's okay," she smiled.  "Just relax. Special Someponies can't be that hard, can they.  I enjoy the short time we've spent together, and for me, that's all it really takes."  She rested her head down again.  She blew a small piece of her mane out of her eyes.

Now that was something that may have hit Nexus a little harder than it should of. He has heard worse, but this just seemed terrible.

 

"Celestia, Lume...I'm so sorry. Had I known..." How could they of missed her? How could they of just passed up another survivor?

 

"You were dumped in a random place full of hostile creatures with no means of defense. Anypony would be scared witless. And you are not stupid, by any stretch of the imagination. We don't think clearly when we're afraid. But if 15 years of being a changeling hunter has taught me anything, it's never let fear rule you. There will always be a voice telling you to lay down and accept death. Never listen to that voice. You keep fighting, keep persisting. Don't let the dark, the fear, the...evil win." Pep talks should be his cutie mark at the rate things have been going today. But he had an idea.

 

"If you want, I can teach you some stuff. I can teach you basic combat, first aid, survival tactics, whatever. If we hope to stop the Resh and the Presence, we need to be at top condition." He glanced down at his chest, frowning.

 

"Says the horribly deformed freak..." He muttered to himself. Maybe sitting right next to somepony was not the best place to mutter, but what's done is done.

Midnight smiled and scooted a little closer, "no, for me, they throught i was a freak, just...." he sighed, "just beacuse of a few holes in my hoof," he smiled, "but im happy your willing to look past it." he watched her and smiled, looking into her orange eyes, "you have really nice eyes."

Arianna smiled.  "Thank you," she whispered.  "Just because you may be part Changeling doesn't make you a freak.  It makes you special.  Different. Looking past it is the easy part," she said.  "It's getting to know the pony underneath that gets to be a little tricky."
