Lunar Uprising

Challenged myself on this one. Still not quite up to the skill level I used to have years and years ago (and let go stale), but I'm getting back into it again.

Based on the Uprising music video by Muse. I know I'm a bit behind on the whole Lunar Republic meme, and unless you know the song the connection is vague, but ah well.

Oh, and yes the eyepatch was a deliberate homage to egophiliac. I love his depictions of the batponies.

Not bad, love the drummer's pose. Smarty Pants is a nice touch too.

Luna's anatomy is a bit awkward though, especially neck and forelegs.

Keep on drawing.

Heh. Due to the strange video, I almost put Smarty Pants in the background gigantic-like, but decided it was better to be a tad more subtle.

Yeah, I knew Luna was off when looking at it as a whole. The pose itself that the lead guitarist uses in the video is very odd for a pony, and my previous attempts ended up with her face either being obscured by the guitar, or her own forearm. Actually, there was one version where I tried to add so much 'motion' that she was bent backward enough I thought she'd fall out the cart. wink.png

See, I look at stuff like Luna's wings-you've really got a talent there. Also the movement in the guy drawing the wagon-Big Mac maybe?

Great concept too-very impressive.

Yep, Big Mac. I need to work more on unusual head positions, like facing away at 3/4. I tried to up the detail level on the harness et al. because I have actual driving gear for a cart like that. The problem I was having was scale. In order for the cart to carry the band, it was actually out-of-scale for a two-wheel cart, and should have been a four-wheeler pulled by two ponies. So the mechanics just went weird. But a two-wheeler is what is seen pulled by Big Mac in the Smile, Smile, Smile scene, so it seemed appropriate. wacko.png  I should have gone four-wheeler, and had Big Mac and Blueblood pull it. Just for the amusement value of Blueblood being in harness, if nothing else.

See, you may be overthinking this a bit. It's folk art after all, and subject to your own interpretation. I don't remember a scene in the show where the ponies were in a cart playing instruments-admittedly I haven't seen them all yet, but I doubt it's canon.

So it's a fantasy scene-conceived of and drawn by you. The impressive part of it to me isn't so much your ability to reproduce the ponies accurately, it's the creativity with which you produced it.
