Finally, after 2 hours of browsing, selecting, tuning, trimming, and styling, Kismet had found her dress. It was elegant and sophisticated - perfect for a formal event such as a wedding - yet absolutely cute as well. As flustered as she was when she first entered the shop, Kismet felt a lot better. She always did enjoy a bit of shopping... It was a fun activity to focus on once in a while when she was feeling... dizzy. 

 

She said goodbye to the kind mare (She had introduced herself as 'Rarity') and went along her way, hooking the bag containing the dress and accessories to her saddlebag, so it wouldn't get too crumpled. Taking another deep breath, she leaped into the air and flew on, towards Manehatten. 

 

"Towards Evening." Kismet thought.

Evening grinned, all of her friends from the Odyssey were there, it was so perfect. "I can't believe you're all here!" she giggled, she started walking out the door "Its been forever since we've all been together like this." she was so excited, all her friends together again. The last time, as it seemed, they'd all been like this is when they had the party for celebrating Sterling coming back to life. 

 

She was upset that they propably won't stay around as long as they had been together for their adventure though, but I suppose that was expected; they were here to celebrate with Sterling and herself, not go on an adventure. To her joy, though, they were all now back together. She'd repeat it herself again and again just make sure it was true, just so she could melt any doubt or fears she had, 'Its alright, they are all here, all of them. They're all okay, you're all together again' she told herself, smiling gleefully

 

"I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world!" Red said to Sterling as he hugged him tightly, "I'm really happy we all could get back together for an occasion like this!" Red then noticed Neon Strobe amongst them, and greeted her.

"Neon!" Red shouted, hugging her, "It's been so long!"

Neon smiled when she saw that North was okay. She tried to take some of the sticks out of his mane "Next time how bout you just take a couple trains?" She laughed a bit "Hey, looks like you have grown a bit" Neon was surprised to hear Red "Red" She smiled a bit "Yea, it has been a long time, guess we were just to busy doing our own things that we didn't get to see each other"

"So guys," DJ piped up. "I was thinking maybe we could all go out for dinner somewhere!" He would love for a chance to get to catch up with everypony again.

 

Vinyl looked at him, slightly annoyed. "I thought it was just going to be the two of us!" she whispered in his ear.

 

"Oh! Oops!" he replied. "Sorry! Maybe we could go for dinner, just the two of us, after the wedding instead?"

 

While Vinyl was still not entirely pleased, she felt a little better. "I guess so..."

"STERLING!" he cried out happily. "It's great to see you! ...but I'm kind of having a hard time breathing!" Sterling had been hugging him a little too tightly. "Do you know any good restaurants in Manehattan anywhere near here? I'm kind of hungry!" He chuckled to himself.

 

Vinyl still looked a little bit annoyed, but then she shook off the mood and cheered up again. "Yeah! We really should get something to eat!"

Sterling was still hugging DJ when DJ told him to push away. Sterling did so with a blush; he probably hugged him too hard. Nonetheless, Sterling was excited at the prospect of having dinner together with his friends a few days before the wedding. It was a great way to socialize before the special day too! Sterling replied with delight, "Sure we can have dinner together! I know the perfect place! Best Equestrian food this side of the world's ever seen! It's called the Paramount Restaurant! I'll make the reservation for tonight if you want! I'll just get Ray to send the reservation token to them!"

It was still a good two hours until Kismet would reach Manehatten. It gave her plenty of time to think; way up in the sky with no distractions other than what lies ahead. She thought about her new dress, she thought about her - incident - that morning, she thought about the invitation, but most of all, she thought about Evening.

 

It had been, what, 10 years (more or less) since the last time they had seen each other? Kismet counted in her head:

 

"Let's see, I'm 17 now and Evening left when she was about.... Yup. Sounds about right." Evening had always been a bit older than Kismet, but that didn't stop them from being the best of friends. 

 

Even before they were born, the two families were close friends. Kismet's mother and Evening's mother loved to gossip with each other, so when the fillies were born it was only natural that they would set up constant playdates. "For the children to get together," They would always say. Even for their silly reasons for meeting up with each other, Kismet and Evening quickly became good friends. They spent their summers chasing frogs, hoof-painting the walls, and, of course, searching to discover their cutie mark. During the school year they had always been lab partners and helped each other with homework. Life was good, and life was simple.

 

But of course things had to change. Evening's mother had begun to discuss their choice to move to Canterlot with Kismet's mother. Naturally Kismet's mother did not want her to leave, but instead supported her friend and decided to continue with the conversation. 

 

"So, how's little Evening taking it?" (Kismet's mother)

"Oh, well, I haven't told her yet." (Evening's mother)

"But dear, you plan to leave tomorrow! When were you planning on telling her?"

"I don't have to"

"But.."

"Listen. You're my friend and I know I can trust you. I've been reading up on some of these natural magic remedies. This plant, once infused into a pill by magic, has the ability to wipe anypony's memory, as if it had never happened. I already have a doctor who is willing to administer the drug. I believe it will be the best for Evening."

"But what about Kismet!? How will she take the news that her best friend will never be able to recognize her face ever again??"

"That's just it. Dear friend, there is enough of the antidote for two fillies."

"You- you want Kismet to take the pill?"

"It really is the best thing for them."

 

Needless to say, Kismet's mother did not approve of this. The two got in a argument, and stomped away without so much as a goodbye. Kismet' mother had told her this, and made her promise to not see Evening ever again. She didn't tell her where they were moving to. "She would not recognize you anyway dear child" Kismet's mother had told her, "It's best if you remember her for the friend you used to know."

 

The next morning Kismet ran to their secret hiding spot: Evening's Garden of Hope. But alas, she was too late. Evening's mother was dragging her out of the garden and telling her to grab her things. Panicked that she would never see her friend again, Kismet stayed behind the bushes, so as to not get caught by her mother, and said: "Remember Evening there will always be Hope!" For a split second Evening turned her head; the friends locked eyes for a brief moment, before Evening was dragged around the corner.

 

"If there was just one thing that she could remember," Kismet thought sadly, "Please let it be our Garden. Then she may be reminded of me..."

While Sterling and company were enjoying themselves with a well-deserved reunion, Bram was still away with the orchestra. "Oboes! I need to hear more of you when you reach your solos! This is a majestic entrance of a Queen here! Not some country bumpkin! Let's get back to the oboe solo ok?" shouted a slightly annoyed Bram as he continued to work onward. With that, they continued to work onward with their pieces.

Brick and Dr. Miang were delighted at all the preparations for Sterling's reception at Central Park. "Great job with the preparations you guys! I'll let you folks keep working on the decor while I prepare the experiment for Sterling's honour!" spoke a happy Dr. Miang as he walked away to prepare. "Alright guys! That's enough decor for now! We don't want this to be too frilly! We all know how Sterling doesn't really appreciate too much flamboyance!" spoke Brick as he then began to ponder, "Now if only Blue Note was here... Then I could have her perform one of her pieces for the couple... Too bad she went off somewhere else for her own career. She would be so helpful now."

"Oh you look just lovely, a vision of beauty." Steel complimented. "Shall I get you a drink? Wine, punch, just a water perhaps?" Steel let his eye wander over Clover a bit but as she drew attention to her necklace, he noticed the familiar gem adorning it. "Ah I see you kept your souvenir as an accessory. I have kept mine as well as a good luck charm." Steel pulled his own gem out of his coat pocket.

 

"I took it to Rarity," Clover replied. "And she set it into a necklace for me. I'd love some punch, if it isn't too much trouble." She looked with interest at Steel's gem. "I'm sure it'll bring you a lot of luck."

As Sterling and Evening entered, Clover smiled at them both. "Of course I wouldn't miss this!" she said. "How lovely to see you both again! Congratulations!"

When North crash landed, Clover looked at him with concern. "Are you alright?" she asked.

"Dinner sounds wonderful," Clover replied. "I had a snack when I first got here, but I'm feeling hungry again."

Sterling overheard another pony he knew from the Odyssey. It was Clover! He heard her hearty congratulations, making him all the more thankful that he had and has such amazing friends! "Thanks so much Clover! It's great to see you again too! We're heading out for a dinner at the famed Paramount so we can catch up even more!" 

 

At this time, Ray had come. It was the falcon that Fluttershy gave him back at the days of Raven, when he and his friends were away from Raven's grip at the Everfree Forest. He then wrote a message to the Paramount: 

 

"Dear Paramount Restaurant, 

I'd like to make a reservation at your lovely restaurant. A group of 8 we will be. We will be there at 7:00 pm. I hope you can confirm our seats at that slot.

 

Thank you very much,

Sterling Crimson."

 

Sterling then rolled the paper into a scroll, wrapped it with some string, and gave it to Ray. "Ray, here. Take this to the Paramount Restaurant. You know, the one just by the Equestrian State Building." Ray nodded and then flew away to the restaurant...

That evening, a bit before 7:00, Kismet landed in Manehatten. She was exhausted from her journey, and was ready for some time to rest before she needed to continue preparing for the wedding. She knew that it was going to be awkward, Evening would be a totally different mare now. All grown up, with a stallion to call her own. She realized that she had never met or even heard of him before. But Kismet trusted Evening's judgement, and looked forward to seeing her new love. 

 

She sauntered over to the nearest hotel. Inside she booked a room for 3 nights, and handed over the required bits. She was in no mood to care about pricing, she just wanted a quiet place to rest for the night.

 

She took her key and rode in the elevator to floor 11. There she trotted down the corridor to her room and walked inside. It was a comfortable space, small yet stylish. It would be the perfect place to spend a few nights in the big city. The view was spectacular. 

Kismet flopped on the cushiony bed with a worn out sigh. She then spent 20 minutes gazing out at the fantastic view, watching the sky turn from blue, to purple, to pink and yellow. Who knew the sunset could be so pretty in the city?

Sterling waited patiently for Ray to come back with some good news about their reservation. After about twenty minutes, Ray came back with another scroll wrapped with a red ribbon. Sterling opened it and he was delighted to hear the news. The letter wrote,

"But my friend Fnacypants and I aren't that far apart from each other on the Canterlot social hierarchy anymore. Even still, I've not recieved such an offer. I can hardly take the credit, though. It was OUR adventure after all."

Blue Note froze when she heard her name. Did somepony see her? She started to slowly back away from the scene. She thought she had a chance of getting away, until an old classmate came barreling towards her.

 

"Blue Note!" Breezy called. Breezy was an enthusiastic pony that also played clarinet. She had often asked Blue Note for pointers. "I haven't seen you since graduation! I'm so glad you're here. This wedding is going to be so great..." Blue Note was still frozen as Breezy babbled on. There was no mistaking what this was for now.

 

Blue Note was suddenly horrified when somehow Breezy's chatter had led to her calling out, "Hey everypony, Blue Note is here!" She could only hope nopony else knew her...

Brick overheard Breezy call out to everypony else about Blue Note as he continued to set up the stage for the piano to stand for the performances by Manehattan University's students. He ran up to her from a distance and then spoke happily, "Blue Note! It's great to see you here! I know it might be a really tall order and all, but I was just thinking... would... would you mind performing for a wedding that's coming up? You know, it's for a really good friend of yours. You remember Sterling right?"

Sterling replied with an apology as Bram then walked back into the chapel hall. Sterling then turned his attention to North, who recovered well and was eating some food, "North! It's been ages since we last saw you! How have things been up there?!"

 

"Ah, yes. It has become brighter... Sun is up all day and night, though it will slowly go the other way around as time goes by now." he said. "T'was another reason for me to come; to enjoy some proper nights..."

"More food sounds great..."

This was perfect, this was really all too perfect. A free dinner because of Steel's book? That was really the best thing Evening could think of right now, it was all turning out so well, she really, really hoped nothing would be jinxed.

She trotted down the pathway cheerily while whistling a happy tune from her and her sisters childhood. Autumn was ever so happy to she Evening again, especially at her wedding! Meeting lil' Eve's super-special somepony and all her new friends was a big excitement to her, she also mentioned that she invite Kismet to come, which she should was a really fantastic idea. The two fillies, or more to speak now mares, hadn't seen eachother since just before they moved to Canterlot, right after Evening had got her cutie mark. It was sad, really, for all of them; their mother was so sad she lost a friend and Evening was absolutely depressed. Even if she couldn't remember anything at all apart from her Garden and Kismet, she found a reason to cry every night. She did tell her stories about their old home every night, they seemed to cheer her up but not by a landslide.

 

The mare shook the sad thoughts off and blew at the bit of mane hanging in front of her eye. She was almost at her hotel now, she'd write to Evening and relax there.

The ponies all trotted down to the restaurant for dinner, and Red was walking right alongside Neon. Having not seen his marefriend for quite a long time, he felt now would be a good time to catch up with her.

"Neon," he said to her, "what have you been up to since our adventure?"

May as well add "failed proposal" to that as well, Red he thought to himself.

"Ah, yes. It has become brighter... Sun is up all day and night, though it will slowly go the other way around as time goes by now." he said. "T'was another reason for me to come; to enjoy some proper nights..."

As ever, North's accent was not indeciferable to Steel, but it was often interesting how only certain words came out soundig foreign to his young friend. The Swordpony mused on how wonderful it was that Equestria was such a melting pot of cultures.

((OOC: Hurray for pony diversity! It is pretty cool the way we have such different characters! I'm just bringing us to the restaurant now, but we can continue our conversations in the restaurant!))

 

After a while of trotting and talking, the group arrived at Paramount Restaurant. A friendly waiter with a French accent and thin weasel moustache immediately recognised them and brought them to the best table in the house. He quickly returned with menus for the group, before leaving to give them time to choose what to order. "Wow!" DJ exclaimed. "They have so many different dishes! Hmm... What to choose..."
