I want to know what you think

Well first thing's first, you did a wonderful job in this image here. You've done a good amount of experimenting with both values and emphasizing the texture of Pinkie's hair. Experimentation is a scary thing when it comes to drawing, especially once you've become familiar with your subject. But here you are, giving it a go no matter what the results may be, good on ya mate! Her expression fits right with her and doesn't subtract itself from the image, nor does it hamper the piece (I have issues with depicting emotions clearly, it's a tough pickle!).

There are some issues I happened to notice while viewing your image as well. Now, please don't take what I'm saying as "Accellerants Official Doctrine on how to Draw" but more like suggestions and things to consider. I'm in no way a professional and only a mere student myself princesscadanceplz.png?3

What I happened to be drawn to first as feeling out of place was Pinkie's hair. To be exact, the coil off to her right. It's not that it's drawn incorrectly, it's actually quite consistent, but the way the texture was emphasized. You did quite well with the top of Pinkie's hair I might add! Hair is a bit of a pickle to nail down, I myself haven't successfully emulated realistic hair as of yet. I've always done a more graphic approach when I wanted to add values to hair. What seems out of place is that the strands of hair don't seem to be consistent.

What I would suggest is to plan out how you want her hair to be emphasized in both highlights and value. Draw the strands you need fully and erase away what you want to emphasize your highlights. I'd suggest doing some hair studies with actual photographs and then trying to emulate it with a pony with simple hair.

The next part I noticed was her ear, it's quite tiny compared to the rest of her face derpy_emoticon2.png  I'd suggest making it bigger in both height and width. A rough estimate based on this drawing would be 3/4 of her eye in both height and width. The last tidbit is just a suggestion, experiment with cross-hatching. Cross hatching is a great way to stylize your drawing while emphasizing your value in a quick matter.

Alright, I'm done with the wall, how ya found something useful! Don't be afraid to ask questions or counter what I've said. Again, I'm still a student after all wink.png

If you do not GO after what you want, you'll never have it. If you do not ASK, the answer will always be NO.

If you do not step froward, you'll always be in the same place.
