Callisto 1,877 July 9, 2013 Share July 9, 2013 (edited) Friends, brothers, sisters...you will gather here to show your love to her, Twilight H. Sparkle. For it was she who paved the path to glory and wonder for all of us, and will continue to do so until the end. Twilight is our hero, though she is not a god, but she is anything but a regular old unicorn alicorn... Starswirl the Trixie 975 July 9, 2013 Share July 9, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvZwic5b_oM How does Twilight merit a religion? She's just the pretty princess in-training under the control of an actual god-like creature, Celestia. This would be like founding a political movement around Joe Biden. 2 #SOCKS

That would be like founding a political movement around Chris Angel. And what does physical power matter? If I built and rode around in a giant death robot, would I somehow be worthy of worship. Hell, Trixieism isn't a religion; it's more of a philosophy. There's nothing spiritual or godlike about her; we like her for what she represents. Socrates and Promotheus are both revered as saviors of humanity worthy of admiration; this is not because of "power" they were given by a pretty pony princess. I'll even venture that Prometheus' great deed isn't so much the fact that he stole fire, but that he was willing to defy the gods. Trixie is still the most powerful unicorn in Equestria, but that isn't all that important. What matters is her will to power, independence, and defiance of Equestrian society. Twilight is the loyal servant of the monarch; she hasn't really done or said anythong great. All she has is potential, but it remains unused going into Season 4. You dislike Trixie, but at least she's passionate and doing stuff. If you've got haters, you're doing it right. 1 #SOCKS

The Soldier 2,044 July 11, 2013 Share July 11, 2013 Well, she is the most powerful unicorn, now that Twilight is now an alicorn. You can't be an alicorn and a unicorn at the same time, man... It's either one or the other. You see, if you imaginatively take the wings off of an alicorn, THEN you got a unicorn. Put the wings back on, and it's back to an alicorn
Starswirl the Trixie 975 July 14, 2013 Share July 14, 2013 The below post typed on a phone, so expect typos. Well, she is the most powerful unicorn, now that Twilight is now an alicorn. Also, saving equestria a couple of times doesn't count as doing anything great? Twilight is very good at following the explicit and implicit instructions of Celestia. She is highly intelligent and has received the world's best magical training. How is any of that remotely divine? With a name like "Twilightianity", you imply divinity. Trixieism is more of a philosophy with religionoid components. Yeah, and what has Trixie done? Oh... boast about stuff then reveal herself to be a coward, then corrupt herself by buying the Alicorn Amulet. To a great extent, Trixie has done little; we've seen her for two episodes while Twilight gas appeared in dozens. I fill in the holes with the fandom's average views on Trixie. Why Trixieism? Permit me to use some philosophy: Equestria was founded on a set of ideals, namely the enshrinement of harmony and social order. This moral code was created out of the sufferings in the chaotic, war-filled, "natural" state of pony kind. This nature was thrown out and order became Equestria's fundamental objective. In the time of FIM, this mission has been fulfilled. Equestria has a level of social control Plato could only dream of (see my essay on Plato's Republic). But it comes at a tragic cost: The death of independence, unrestrained ambition, rebelliousness, and what Nietzsche called "will sur macht" (will to power). Equestria was so busy ensuring the survival of a society that it lost its meaning, value, and its very worthiness. Now, faced with this crisis of meaning, nature and Beauty are sought by many once more; they are found on the outskirts of society in the form of a stage magician, Trixie. She is the only pony in the show who openly challenges social morals (those of tge Mane 6); instead of kindness, humility, and genersoity, Trixie's values are ambition, independence, and will sur macht. Why do I use that German term so much? Because Nietzsche's example of will sur macht personified is Zarathustra, who (in Nietzsche's writing) wanders from town to town, living in nature, challenging the people, telling stories, and shattering illusions of values. The similarity is striking. Why is this pony the basis of our philosophy? Because Equestria is so much like Earth. We humans, too, struggle with the consequences of the battle for Order, how it kills natural nobility and Beauty. We find it again in Trixie. Morality is cyclical; too much freedom and chaos leads to order being valued; too much order leads to independence being valued. We Trixiests aren't "right" in our philosophy; it is just our answer to the problems of our time. And let's face it: Twilightianity is and always will be a joke religion. Trixieism is half-serious; of course the cult-like tone is tongue-in-cheek, but the adoration of Trixie as the best hope of ponykind is serious. #SOCKS
