Amour frowned, "You live in a cave? Why don't you live in ponyville or if you're uncomfortable there, why not in a cottage like Zecora the Zebra?" She asked, a bit worried about the bat pony. She didn't think a cave was very sanitary. But then again he did seem to be part bat so maybe he liked it.

 

She frowned when Draco walked past them and then said something aloud. "Excuse me?" She asked, not sure she had heard him correctly. Maybe he's singing again, he seems to do that a lot.

"No be around lots of ponies. No like. Live always in page since colt. Always live in cave. No ever think of cottage. Might live in cottage soon." He then turned to Draco with Amour. "Best friend say something? Draco! Say something to Vesper?" he asked. He didn't hear Draco address him, but he wasn't exactly paying a lot of attention.

Hop nodded. "I'm a mental therapist. Ponies come to me when they need counciling whether it be social problems, relationship issues. Helping them become more confident in themslevs as a whole." Hop then looked up at Dusk. "You should have more confidence in yourself instead of appologizing for everything you think you're doing wrong." she then kissed him on the cheek before making herself comfortable again.

"I know...and I try bu-" he was cut off by Hop's sudden advance, landing a kiss on his cheek and instantly turning him a shade of bright red, casually mixing his darker blue coat making him turn a distinct shade of purple. The hoof he had just moved proceeded to dig into the grass, pressing into it as hard as he could to channel his concentration elsewhere to attempt to turn his face back into normal colour. "Y-y-you...with the...j-just...o-oh..." he bit his lip again and looked down at the floor, taking a few deep breaths. "I'm sorry I...I mean I must be...did you just...?" He twisted his hoof into the floor, before patting down the soil and rubbing the back of his neck, chuckling to himself lightly "Is this uh...is this part of your therapy"

Hop was taken aback by the 'is this part of your therapy', her upmost surprise clearly writen on her face. "W-what? No! I'm not a slut if that's what you're thinking. I just think you're cute. I like you." After a moment she had calmed down some. She then noticed how flustered she must have made Dusk just now noting that he had been studdering. "I'm sorry, I should've thought you would be surprised by that."

Don't take it so hard on yourself Dusk. You couldn't have known how she was going to react."

"But you're not, are you! There's a reason I don't let you talk!" he shouted this last sentence out loud, instead of in his mind as he tried to force back tears in his eyes and wavering sound in his throat as he ran off towards the lake.

Amour nodded, "And you should! If you move into a cottage I can visit you all the time!" She said pleasantly, "It's just that caves aren't really my thing you know? They kind of freak me out a bit, with the dark and the dampness." She laughed sheepishly.

 

Her eyes widened at what Draco had said. "Um...Match? No, no, no. We aren't a match, we're friends. I don't do the love thing, although I do, as you said, match people up." She didn't add that her friends and family constantly told her to stop matchmaking because the match always ended in flames and devastation. "Why? Are you interested in someone around here?" She asked the stallion, deciding to forgive him for walking away from her while she was trying to talk with him, earlier.

"Wait, no Dusk!" Hop called out as Dusk bursted off towards the lake. She whispered curses under her breath as she extended her wings and went after him. It didn't take long for her to catch up and attempted to stop him by pulling at his tail. "Dusk, stop!" she yelled with his tail still in her mouth.

Slide sighed. Well, what now? I can't sit out here forever. I certaintly can't go talk to Remmy...no, she likes Draco too much, and he'll make sure she doesn't talk to me. Draco and Vi are also a no no. Amour...well, she's probably with the latter. So who's left?

 

The bat pony! Yes! He loves everypony, and can find good in everypony! Maybe he can help me. Urgh, what's his name? Viper, Vector, um, um, Vesper! Yes!

 

Slide ran around the lake through the woods, as so nopony would see him. When he reached the other side of the lake, he searched around for Vesper. He spotted him over by the refreshments with Amour and...

 

Draco.

 

Whatever. I need to talk to this colt.

 

Slide trotted over to the refreshment table, and saw Vesper. Not knowing what to do, he opened up his hooves and hugged Vesper, knowing he did this to pretty much everypony.

 

"Vesper, we're friends, right?"

Dusk slid to a halt, momentarily forgetting she was a pegasus and not wanting to drag the poor mare into the ground. 

He covered his muzzle and eyes with one of his forelegs allowing a single tear to drip to the floor before lowering his head and looking to one side. He didn't say anything for a short while, but eventually he managed to steady his breath long enough to talk coherently - hopefully. 

"I'm sorry, okay?" he said quietly "I'm sorry."

Worried that she may have screwed everything up. She gingerly placed a hoof on his cheek. "Look at me please." she asked this time, calming herself and hopefully Dusk as well.

"Sure multiple stallions and a few mares have expressed interest, but I've never held an interest in dating anyone. Unlike most ponies my life is already complete, I don't need love to make me happy, simply watching happy couples enjoying the cake I baked for their wedding is enough for me." She said, ending in a cheerful note. At the approach of the stallion, Slide she smiled. "Hello, Slide! How goes the night on your end?"

 

She pondered a bit on Vesper's question and grinned when the bat pony embraced, Slide. "Well matching ponies is basically trying to find one pony their special somepony. Or multiple ponies." She said.

"I'm okay...he's nopony. It's nothing." He covered his eyes again squeezing them shut before taking a deep breath. 

"Great. Fantastic job Shadow. Thanks. Again, you ruin things for me!" he yelled out in his head at the fragmented part of himself. 

He finally managed to place his hoof down on the ground, still with his head turned away from her, he opened his eyes and looked back at her, his eyes again quickly changing back to green. "It's...lighting. Chemicals." he smiled falsely praying she'd not ask anymore "They change colour in the dark, I just didn't want you to think I was weird or anything, but that's...not why I ran." He sat down where he was stood, not caring where it was. "I guess i'm just not used to...that sort of thing. And then...when you thought...I just...I didn't mean for it to come across like that, you understand, right?"

Amour's eyes widened in surprise. So the stallion could be deep, what a surprise! But she still couldn't see the appeal. "Eh...Maybe one day, but not anytime soon." She said, shrugging. She grinned at Vesper. "Ha, okay you can be my co-cupid! And Draco and Slide can be our hearts and hooves entourage." She laughed. "Hm, well then...Lesson number one; When you see two ponies acting all sweet and nice to each other, try and get them to go on a date! Lesson number two; If you see any ponies being mean to each other and arguing, try and get them to go on a date! Lesson number--Oh, I guess those are the only ones." She giggled.

Hop gently stroked his cheek, sorrow gripping her heart like there was no other emotion there. "Of course I understand." and I want to know who Shadow is! she thought. She's never delt with an insane pony before. No, that was the asylum's job, not hers. Still she didn't want to bring it up again just for the colt's own sake. But she was conflicted, she did like him, she couldn't just throw him out like trash. She could handle it.... right? "Dusk..." she said leting her hoof drop back down. "I..." like you. Just say it. "You're a wonderfull stallion." she said with a smile and then hugged him.

I just...freaked out, I guess. I didn't expect it." He repeated, holding her loosely so she could easily slip away when she wanted to, but he had no intent of pulling away again.
