I was always a tossup. 1st gen (Red/Blue) was grass, 2nd gen (Gold/Silver/Crystal) was fire, 3rd (Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald) was water, 4th (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) was grass, and 5th (Black/White) was fire.

Hoenn Starters are basically the only ones I would ever pick Grass :derp: (I prefer Treeko to Mudkip)

I mainly pick starters for looks though, other Pokemon are the only ones I'll do strategically.

Though Squirtle is good strategy in Kanto

You people are making me want to play Pokemon again, but I don't have enough time for it.

My favorite starter is Turtwig, because Torterra's an absolute powerhouse.

Explorers of Darkness/Time were amazing, one of my favourite games of all time :)

My first game was Leaf Green, and yes, I chose Bulbasaur xD Torterra was pretty awesome, but I preferred Chimcar in gen 4. Infernape was pretty awesome

Yeah, but it was the first time a grass starter could overcome a fire starter, at least after evolving anyway.

I was always the person that taught each of my Pokemon different types of moves, so they wouldn't have any real weakness.

I always liked Piplup myself :derp:

I am so biased towards water types

I like Squirtle in FR/LG for strategy, it means Gary gets Bulbasaur, which is weak to Flying, Fire, and Ice, Moltres and Articuno anyone? :comeatus:

I remember the Pokemon TV show too...

It's not nearly as good looking back on it to me. Which kinda sucks.

Haha!! That's great Nomed.

Anyway, yeah, I was never a big fan of the really hardcore training for PvP and such.

Exploiting the math and probability of the game mechanics would take me out of experiencing the game world, because those aren't things that actual people in the pokemon world would be conscious of. Also certain pokemon are completely passed off as worthless for being too weak, something that only villains and antagonists do in the games.

You could get a Garchomp, then you've won the game then xD

The Tv show is not good anymore, I miss the Brock/Misty days

My strategy for PvP: just outpower the opponent from the get go. Hit 'em hard at first, and don't let up.

I never did PvP, always wanted to though. Sad that you can't now on normal DS.

I never used status affecting moves though, all I went with was damage dealing attacks. Probably not good if you want to play it competitively but oh well =P

In my mind, I feel that they probably would be conscious of it, since it's basically genetics and stuff like that, but as for the "passing off as worthless" part, I personally have a headcanon that released Pokemon get put up for an adoption instead of actually being released, so it's less them being worthless, and more that they're worth more as a pet/friend than as a fighter, and that type of thing isn't really uncommon in our world

My best team, at any given time, was Torterra, Garchomp, Metagross, Gallade, Blastoise and Electrivire.

Can't remember my best team, but I disliked using Legendary's. They kinda feel a bit cheaty at points.
