This place is great for support, but in the end it's your choice entirely.

27, you may or may not like what I'm about to say here. There are plenty of things to live for. Love comes in many various forms. Some pursue it; others don't. My life isn't meaningless without a romantic interest, and yours shouldn't be either. Your entire life should not pivot on the existence of another person. You should be happy being by yourself first. Once you can achieve that, then this won't be so tough. And no, it's not easy. Not in this fucking society that wants to cram "being single sucks" down all our throats. Why do you think so many people are marrying so young? It's the fucking media telling them that basically getting married is the most important thing in the world. Oh and the story ends with both living happily ever after when that's just not true. My parents, my grandparents, and even my great-grandmother have taught me that maintaining a relationship and a marriage is a lot of work and there are days where you will hate your partner. 

 

For now, I might suggest just doing a few things by yourself. Hell, who knows? Maybe you'll be at a concert or something and you'll find a cute girl there. Or guy. I don't know what your thing is lol. But I'll bet you still have plenty of time left to find someone. Make other things your priorities. Get your degree. Get settled in a good career. Maybe get yourself a sweet new car. Just don't feel bad for living for yourself. That was my hardest vault...getting over the fear that I would have to live for myself. But, man, I've only got my twenties once. I want to have fun by myself. I don't want to get tied down to some girl right now. If I want to spend a bunch of money on PC parts or on concert tickets, shirts, beer, and souvenirs at said concert, I can do that. I don't come home and have a girl nag at me for wasting my money. Hell, I have a hard enough time with that with my mom nagging at me for wasting my money.

 

It's not easy, but why would you be any happier with someone than you are alone? Sure, you'd find love and it'd be great and all, but the way I see it, if you can't be happy without her, you're going to be wanting her all the time. That will exhaust her and you'll run her off. And you will be exactly where you are now. And I know that's the last thing you want to do. So you're single. So am I. So fucking what? That gives us all the more reason to live a little! I know I've dealt with it for a long time. Partly because everybody else has a girlfriend and I feel like the odd one out for being single. But you know what? All the successful girls are waiting til their thirties to get married. As am I. I might suggest just dating because it's fun! It's supposed to be fun! Hell, if you're super serious and you can't have fun now, why would you be having any fun when you're 80 and shitting in diapers? 

 

You're better than this. Don't feel so bad for being single. You have a lot of time to find someone, and I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

I find it very difficult to socialise. It took me about eight years just to make some friends (that's not an exaggeration, I literally had no friends offline from when I left school to about 4 months ago)
