  1. 1. What should happen after 1 million is reached?

    • Start over at 1
      28
    • Keep counting to infinity (count to the next million(s))
      105
    • Count back down to 1 (then back up)
      52
    • Other (pm or mention if you'd like)
      15

I think part of the reason it works like that is because 2 to the power of something converted to binary, the exponent is the number of zeroes that follow the one.

In other words,

2 = 2 = 10

22 = 4 = 100

23 = 8 = 1000

24 = 16 = 10000

25 = 32 = 100000

26 = 64 = 1000000

27 = 128 = 10000000

28 = 256 = 100000000

29 = 512 = 1000000000

210 = 1024 = 10000000000 (Binary Mega)

...

220 = 1,048,576 = 100000000000000000000 (Binary Giga)

...

230 = 1,073,741,824 = 1000000000000000000000000000000 (Binary Tera)

In other words, a power of two in binary will always look like a power of ten in decimal :yay:

And for the purposes of binary, perhaps it was just easier that way.

Binary is so awesome. It can be used to represent almost anything that has two extremes. 0 or 1. Off or on. Empty or full. Black or white. No or yes. False or true. South or north. That's why people can make computers in Minecraft. :D As long as you have something that can represent one of two possible values at any given moment and for more than one of those things be able to communicate with each other, you have the fundamental building blocks of a computer.

Tonight, I'm going to dig into the archives and play some lesser-known hits. Here's Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man:"

Speaking of lesser-known songs by famous bands,

Not your typical "1979," "Muzzle," "Disarm," "Thirty-Three," "Cherub Rock," or "Rhinoceros" :comeatus:

Farewell and goodnight, CtaM.
