He crashed in the Japanese GP 2014 into one of the cranes, that where there to take out crashed cars from the race track. His car smashed under(!) the crane, barely missing his head enough to not get it ripped off. Trough heavy head injuries, he got brought into a hospital, his state as uncouncious. After the operations, he lied in a coma, until yesterday, where the damages from the race where too much.

 

This is the first death, happened trough a Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna's crash 1994, where he died still on the race track, after medics tried to bring him back to life.

 

This sure is a sad day for F1 fans, Bianchi was the first(and only)driver in the Marussia Team(Yes, the same team I drive for in the F1 games) who actually managed to make points during a Grand Prix, 2 points for his 8th place in Monaco last year.

That shows, even the ammount of safety nowadays in F1, accidents like this STILL can happening, even when less then back in the 90s or before. And afterall, he SURIVED it, he only died now trough the damages from the crash nearly a year after lying in coma :/

 

Kinda tragic, Marussias best season in F1(2 points thanks to him) is at the same time the worsed possible season a team could have
