Ah yeah. ASU is a pretty big university. Power to him tho. Maybe he just didn't enjoy lIving in the states. Also, Arizona is HOT all year round. Except Flagstaff due to elevation. 

Maybe he wanted some milder weather. Europe is lucky that it has such rich farmland and mild weather. We have lots of resources, but weather is a different thing sometimes. 

It was 27C as I left work yesterday. And tomorrow morning, they predict it will be literally freezing

But what's worse is when the average yearly temperature is 10 centigrade and you get 40°C in summer
