I have yet to see the mini-sodes actually.  I've mainly seen the episodes and most of the specials.  I have yet to see those and the Confidential episodes.

 

 

 

From the few episodes I've seen of the First Doctor, I know that he couldn't go back home.

Well all of the ones from the new series, I'm pretty sure all of the Christmas specials.  I still need to see the Time of the Doctor where the 12th Doctor is introduced, and the Dead Planet I think it's called.  It's the one before Waters of Mars with a double-decker bus. 

 

Then there is pretty much all of the old series except for like three episodes.

Yes it is quite sad. Although they're being found, when they stopped trashing the episodes there where about 200 missing episodes. They've already found 100

Before they re-recorded over the tapes, they shipped copies of them to other countries so they could air them. Some of the countries kept the copies and are giving them back. Just recently 9 missing episodes where found in Nigeria.
