But at least we don't go shove right in front of other ponies' faces that "WE HAVE DIZ X NUMBER OF BROHOOVES PLEASE LIKE DIZ POST" or some crap like that. The purpose of a brohoof is, of course, a marker that someone actually likes your post, not a tool for credit grabbing and popularity crap...

 

I might say something related to my counter (like when I hit 1776, I said "I'm at 1776. Murica") but I don't go around shoving it in people's faces that I'm a better member than them simply because I have more brohoofs. I'm just gonna echo your point that if I like a post, I'm going to brohoof it. I don't care what section it's in.

 

The only reason our posts don't count here is because there's no character limit. 

 

Of course these days it's easy to post anything with no merit because 100 is no longer the standard (except in the Debate Pit where your post should either have merit or not be there at all). There are people who post in the fan clubs because those are generally pretty high traffic areas that get a lot of brohoofs too because everybody likes to see pictures of their favorite ponies.

It goes both ways though. There are members here who have thousands of posts and only a handful of brohoofs. Not that that's a bad thing. Maybe their posts end up in places that don't generally get a lot of brohoofs. Or maybe their ideas are more on the controversial side. Just because a post doesn't get a brohoof doesn't mean it's without merit.

 

I think the key to being liked (not necessarily popular because you can be popular and not be liked) is to just not care about it. It seems like the people who care most about being popular are the ones who fail most at it. Just like the people who worry most about money are the people who spend the largest percentage of their income. And the people who end up in the worst or most abusive relationships are typically (typically...not always) those who put finding a partner way above all other priorities (like getting a college degree,  living your life, and finding the right partner). When you learn to not care so much about it, you realize that it's really not that big of a deal.

Alicorn OCs...The butts of a thousand bad/trollfics...

 

Lessee, firstly, they should red and black, preferably super saturated. They need super powerful magic which can beat the princesses and the Queen all at the same time. Always good to have dragon wings, possibly a part Nightmare. Integral to their existence is the fact they ARE better than everyone else, and they're probably related to Celestia in some way too (Or maybe Luna's secret daughter, for a bit of added spice.) Oh, they can also use all of the elements at once, quite often bringing their own, new element into play which is the leading element. They're super friendly, everyone loves them, and they can breathe fire.

 

Hmm, yeah.

Speaking of popularity, that's how our politicians act, especially when there's an election coming up. They'll just suddenly make an appearance in, let's say, someone with a flat tire, get photographed while replacing the tire of the distraught owners of the car, and get featured in the headlines of major news outlets locally... :okiedokielokie:

 

They also shove their faces in advertisements, greeting notes, entrances to a province/city/town/whatever, and everything in hope for that mighty ballot-counter. That's what we call "epal" or credit-grabbing so to speak... :comeatus:
