gaming Pathetic hatred on CoD: Ghosts (and BF4)

I don't think that statement is valid at all. If people weren't allowed to complain about things they couldn't do themselves, then we wouldn't have the right to rate games at all, we wouldn't be able to complain about the XboxOne's previous restrictions, we wouldn't be able to complain about how governments run countries, etc.
It's a completely valid statement, as I wasn't bashing on complaining itself, but most of the people that complain after seeing a 10 second clip with "OMG i already know this game is going to suck *blank* game is soooo much better". They don't give valid reasons why they prefer the game over the other, and what could be fixed or updated. (Hardcore fanboys) That is what I was referring to. Giving a completely valid reasoning on why the game is bad or insignificant isn't bad, it is what makes games better.

Yap, I found it on youtube. But that's not the only place, at all. Two kids started fighting because one of them is going to buy BF4 and the other will buy Ghosts. And I mean actually fighting. They started smacking each other in the face and kicking each other in the balls. ._.

They shouldn't be playing the game as it's 18 rated. Their opinions do not count as it is not aimed at them at all. You should really be looking for good reviews/critics for opinions (not IGN). I only look up reviews for Nintendo games so I cant really recommend you anything consistently good for these games.

You know, if you don't like the hate, then don't even bother feeding it with topics or other comments on it. As many say, "don't feed the trolls". They don't listen to reason.

That said this is a pretty old thread, and I don't know much about any new developments with it because I'm not particularly interested in buying either. I've played CoD before and the campaigns are too short and uninteresting for me, and Battlefield I've never tried and don't really plan to (not cuz it looks bad, it seems pretty okay, it just doesn't interest me).

I like story-driven games, even if it's a shooter, and I find that the CoD franchise is subpar in that regard. Action is fine, I guess, if you like that more than the character development.

tl;dr CoD is overplayed for its hatred, I think a lot is just a joke now. I get it's overpriced and it's basically the same every time, but some people like repetition.

I'll bet a dollar you enjoy any number of things not "aimed" at you. And that you have opinions about every last one of them. You think your own opinions are completely worthless? Personally, I find that pretty pessimistic...

Well rather than saying 'aimed at them' I should've really been saying 'they shouldn't be playing the game in the first place'. Sorry about that.

I wasn't being pessimistic, I was being negative.

It sure looks like the same game to me. I'm not saying it's bad but it's still a relevant and reasonable thing to gripe about. Games should actually change and perhaps even innovate over time. Making the visuals prettier does not accomplish that in the least.

Why shouldn't they? It's just a game. Who cares if they play it?

Oh, my bad. You were just being something that has the same meaning as pessimistic but is spelled with different letters. Pardon me then.

Because it's an 18 rated game lol. That's why they shouldn't :I I thought that was fairly obvious, seeing as I said it before. Hate having to repeat myself.

Pessimism is negativity about the future. There's no need to act all smart, especially about off topic things. I simply answered your concern and pointed out a tiny mistake, please don't try to turn it as an insult against me. Especially after an apology and when you're wrong, pretty shameful.

Let's stay on topic now.

Guys, we're all missing the fact that Ghosts has a fucking DOG in it! It's an entirely different game to every other CoD!

Joking aside, most people likes sequels because they like the game series but want to start over with new weapons and maps, I loved black ops 2 but got bored of using the sane guns over and over whilst playing on the same maps constantly. Battlefield 4 does seem to be switching it up from BF3 quite considerably too, bullet drop on sniper has been reduced whilst giving us range checkers and variable zoom scopes, so it's more realistic. The new destruction is interesting but can be a little annoying, commander mode looks promising, and it's all on a new engine to make it that much more pretty.

CoD and BF are on a wining formula, don't fix what isn't broken.

As someone who has had experience with pretty much every iteration of both shooters over the past decade, I agree that this moronic fanboy war needs to stop. I honestly can pin most of it on the Battlefield community, though this may be more that I have more experience with Battlefield.

It seems a huge portion of the current Battlefield community jumped on the Battlefield 3 bullet train back in mid-2011, and they all came from CoD to "PLAY A SUPERIOR GAME HUR DURR DURR" and then proceed to never shut the fuck up about how they used to play CoD but now they play Battlefield.

What renders this worse is the fact that Battlefield 3 was a dissappointment, and Battlefield 4 while no doubt looking considerably better than it's 2011 counterpart is fixing to be in the same spot. Real Battlefield fans who played 1942, Vietnam, and BF2, and hell 2142 while we're at it will likely notice the absence of many core Battlefield game mechanics from those games in BF3 and BF4. BF3 is an objectively alright shooter. BF4 looks considerably better and by todays standards is a vastly superior shooter to what's on the market, at least in terms of multiplayer fragfests. However neither game is Battlefield, and I believe this is simple truth. The effort to "streamline" (see: dumb the fuck down) Battlefield for the mass market has lead to an unfortunate demise of much of what made the franchise such a treat back in the early and mid 2000's.

I've played every main console/PC iteration of CoD and Battlefield up until this point, and I do think this will be the first time I simply avoid CoD. However it's also potentially the first time I'll avoid Battlefield, I'm no doubt burnt out on shooters. But simply put both games don't fill a need in me anymore. I can see myself getting BF4 at some point, but part of that is I rarely played BF3 beyond the first 6 month window, in large part because few people I knew wanted to play it. Where CoD, in all its iterations, gave me plenty of time to get burnt out on it considering the people I knew wanted me to play it with them constantly.

Ah okay. I have a better understanding of your position.

The same applies to the opposite as well; people shouldn't be praising something either if it hasn't actually been released yet. People are too quick to judge things.

So...Because of an arbitrary and misguided rating, they shouldn't play it? That's...Illogical. What magical power is granted at 18 that enables someone to be more capable of playing certain video games? Are they gonna go off on a shooting spree if they're exposed to it at 17?

Franchise games tend to get hate no matter what. GTA V avoided the pregame hate by having a huge budget, good advertising, and GTA being such a good franchise to begin with. Games that have clear competitors (COD and BF) will always have people fighting against each other trying to be better than the others.

What? xD you can't say my point is illogical! My point was based on fact that it is law, your opinion is based upon another opinion (that it is a silly law, which is a debatable statement).

If you base your opinion on another opinion then we're going to have a crazily off topic discussion, I'm sure it'll make a good as another discussion thread though :P

Your point is based on an illogical law, making it as illogical as said law, so I can actually very easily say it's illogical. tongue.png And it most certainly would make a good one...

as someone who's played both games(though more CoD than BF)Yea it's pretty much the same thing...just with a different outdated engine (Which comes all the way back from Quake) Tome that's just lazy,it needs a new engine. But watching the various gameplay videos of Ghosts makes me want to get it, but hen when I go and play any of my CoD games, I get frustrated and think "no I don't wanna buy Ghosts,it's gonna be the exact same BS as every other CoD"From the gameplays I've seen, it's true, I've seen drop shotters, I've seen quickscopers, I've seen campers, I've seen halo jumpers...sorry, but it's that kinda crap that ruins CoD for me,andmakes me not want to buy the next one. If I have teammates camping to get their killstreaks, I"ll kill them....just because I can, and I love trolling in CoD  when things get boring in it...EMPing betties, standing in front of them, blocking them in a corner..etcetera

I've played BF and wasn't that much of a fan....wasn't my kind of game, and the damned elitism in it...oh my god, just because I was a low level, other players were like "no you can't fly that plane, or drive that tank" and when I do get to drive it or fly it, they C4 the damn thing. then i'd find them and kill them. Players have their fave camping spots, and stick to them, and they have their teammates helping him,

I've said this once, and I'll say it again. I'm done with FPSers such as CoD and BF as you run into nothing but douche bags that don't play by the rules or are complete idiots when they play, and you lsoe because of one idiot teammate.

Not to mention GTA isn't a game that comes out every year, like BF and CoD

The main thing is that neither of them show us anything new, and they've done just about nothing besides make the game market competitive for more generic first person shooter games, but my specific experience with them was this:

Call of Duty

Call of Duty 2 and 3 were the first 360 games I ever bought, and I played them both through several times, enjoying every last minute of the shoddily written story, and enjoying those beautiful, beautiful (now horribly aged and ugly) graphics!

When Call of Duty 4 came out, I was mindblown, and saw it through end to end, not to mention buying Xbox Live just to play it (And Halo 3). Unfortunately, someone who was living in our house at the time would play it all day while I was at school, and unlocked everything online before I ever got the chance to really play more than a few matches. So it was a wasted experience.

Then World at War came out, and I was like, "It's just like 2 and 3, but with 4's engine. This is great!" Then it ended. And I was a bit surprised at how quick it was over, but it was still fun. As far as multiplayer, it was my first chance to play the game from the bottom up and unlock everything myself! I got to about level 32 and never played it again because I was so bored of playing the same maps over and over.

Then Modern Warfare 2 came out, and I played it in half of an afternoon after school one night, and thought, "They're just messing with me now, that was clearly just Modern Warfare DLC." I played it online for maybe 12 hours overall. My interest in online games began rapidly decreasing at this point.

Then I bought Black Ops, played through the story at a friend's house, and... well, that's about it. At least Reznov came back, but it wasn't all that exciting or fun otherwise. I think I maybe sunk about 6 hours into it online. I had all but gotten completely sick of online games by now.

Then... I didn't buy Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops 2 because they lost my interest as a customer.

Battlefield

I bought Battlefield 2 for PC from a lady at the flea market a year after it came out for $1. I enjoyed it a lot, but seeing as how there was no real singleplayer, and we didn't have anything but dial up internet at the time, it was a pretty shallow experience.

When Battlefield 1942 came out, I bought it and sank around 30-40 hours into online games on the 360. I played a match the other day. I still think it's pretty fun, honestly.

When Battlefield 3 was introduced, I was awe-struck by the amazing looking trailers, showing them to lots of friends, talking about how awesome it was going to be. I played maybe 4 hours of the beta in online matches, and thought it was kind of fun. When it finally came out, I went to a friend's house, played 3/4ths of the campaign in a few hours, and then never bought it. Because it was less than exciting, honestly. The main problem was that it felt like a Call of Duty game!
