sole sensed him approach and resisted the urge to throw the weight at him, instead he stood up and dropped it at his hooves. "And why should I go anywhere with a killer?" He asked darkly "there are only two things I want from you. And that's my wife... And your fucking head on a stick. Why should I trust you huh?" He asked in annoyance.

Rail Grinned. "Yes, that's right, you've acquired priories. They give you what makes you so special. Your strength and your resolve are closely related. Come with me, I assure you, this is worth your time. That is, if intend to see her again."

 

He stepped out of the door and motioned for Sole to follow.

That would ruin my tournament. I've arranged a little test for you. I want to see what your priorities can do." He led them to a distant hallway, somewhere that they had never been before. They stopped at a solid iron door. Rail knocked on it two times and waited.

A doctor opened the door, he was a grayish blue unicorn, and clearly quite old. Stone Heart was the only other pony who was in the room. She was unconscious and lying on her side atop a hospital bed. She had a blue aura around her. In the time it took Sole to observe these things, Rail had left and couldn't be seen.

 

"I believe a thank you is in order." The doctor said. "I was the one who took care of her after her fight. Her injuries were so severe that, if any other doctor were to have taken care of her, she surely would have died. Hate Rail all you want, but he gave the order for her to be saved. Of course, this doesn't come without a small stipulation. Take a good look at her, you will see that she's still mine!" The doctor referred to the strange aura around her. "Listen up, because I'm only going to explain this too you once!" He said. "Your wife is in what I call the dream grip. My powers are causing her to go into a comatose state, there are no physical means of saving her. But it gets worse. In approximately five minutes, she will begin to develop amnesia and will slowly lose all of her memories. In ten minutes, she will suffer permanent neurological damage and will enter a permanent coma, never to wake up! In twenty minutes, her brain will shut sown and she will die. But that shouldn't be a problem. You can stop it all right now. My powers can only work if I'm conscious, So if I lose consciousness, She will wake up and be perfectly fine." He pointed too his cranium. "Sufficient head trauma should do the trick. Aside from my medical knowledge, I'm just an old doctor. knocking me out should be easy."

 

The doctor laughed. He was clearly in great danger, but he didn't seem worried.

Stone, for some reason heard sole say her name in her dream state. She looked around the room to see nothing no sole, just stupid scientists and a robot as well as her papers. She sighed "I think I'm starting to hear things now." She sighed while looking up at the ceiling.

The doctor was struck and flew backwards with violent force, striking the ground face first. It was enough head trauma to knock out even the strongest of stallions. However, after only a few seconds, the doctor stood up, and when he turned around, he had an enormous bruise on his cheek. "Ha ha! I know what you're thinking! That punch was too hard! I shouldn't be standing! Medical school perk, after manipulating my body to cut off pain, and an extra dose of endorfines, I feel pretty good!" He chuckled and shifted his jaw around. "You have a choice here. Either you let her die... Or you kill me, a defenseless old doctor with a wife, two children and three grandchildren. My youngest grandchild is three, I wonder if she'll ever understand why I never came home. I wonder..." He laughed again, much louder.

Nuclear was incoherent as she was taken to the infirmary, in pain from her wounds and from how much she had exerted herself.

 

'I'm sorry body....I did too much didn't I?'

 

Her wounds had stained parts of her gray coat a brown-red.

 

'At least I survived....that counts as something doesn't it?'

Frost saw Nuclears stretcher wheel passed the door of the fighting lounge. He waited a minute and then followed. When he had reached Nuclears room he poked his head and knocked slightly on the door.

 

"Um....hey how you doin?" he said and immedeatly scolded him self in thought. "You idiot, she got carted to the infermary, how do you think she is doing?"

Whiplash grimly watched the match end, Nucleur passing out. Her match had ended similarly, it was very bloody. "The next rounds will be soon tommorow," Whiplash warned Crimson. She knew he was an excellent fighter, but so were all the other opponents. Especially Sole, she groaned to herself.

Crimson nodded, "I know...lets hope whoever I fight next doesn't have an obsessive motive to win the tournament at all costs, I've seen enough of those types already in this tournament...but just remember, it doesn't matter who I fight, as long as I win, our only true objective right now is winning this tournament and making sure Rail doesn't open that portal...do you both understand?" asked Crimson seriously.

Nuclear groaned, squeezing her eyes tightly . "Ow....come in...whoever it is...I guess..."

 

She was somewhat out of it due to the pain medication given. Bandages crisscrossed her chest and back with a couple on her face for cuts and burns as she obviously couldn't come out of her own attacks without at least minor burns.

Frost hesitated a bit and walked in. He sat at the foot of Nuclears bed and turned his gaze to her, noticing all the bandages. "You fought well, normally anypony who puts that much will into fighting can become very unstable." he said not being sure wether he should let her know it was him.

Sole froze as he saw the doctor stand up and explain the new circumstances. "No... Dammit, no! I'm not killing anypony, there must be annother way!" He said in desperation *what do I do! Stone is running out of time. C'mon think dammit!* he thought to himself, before thinking of a desperate plan "kill me instead!" He said quickly "I can't kill you... But I can't let stone die either. So release her and kill me instead dammit!" He said in frustration.

Frost's eyes went wide at Nuclears last comment. He jerked his head and stared at her. "Your parents sent you here." he said with disgust. "That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, I mean a magic as unique as yours should be loved and cared for with the upmost respect." he said blushing as he realized he sounded like a complete stud. "The magic you have is powerful, look what it did to me I...." he cut himself off as he realized he gave away his identity like an unwanted penny.

"Of course," Whiplash said grimly, tensing her aching muscles. Crimson had to win, no matter what, but at what price? "But, do you understand, you may have to kill to win? You may have to fight to the bloody end?" the Pegasus asked darkly, thinking about the last painful tournaments she had watched.

crimson sighed before nodding grimly, "I know...I mean, its not like it would be the first time I ever killed sompony...but if possible, I would still prefer to spare the life of any innocent pony I fight...because I made a promise to someone and im going to do my best to keep it..." said crimson seriously.

Even being all amped on drugs it's physically impossible to stay conscious without the right amount of blood. Nighty night doc." He said, as he walked over to stone.

Whiplash nodded, her normally confident mood dampened by the grim conversation. The Pegasus took a deep breath and stared at Crimson. "Stay alive, okay?" she said seriously. Whip nervously stared down sadly. Not only would Crimson have to stay alive for the sake of Equestria, but as well for the sake of her.

He pressed the glowing hoof to his wounds and when he removed his hoof, the lacerations were gone. "Like I said, Tick tock. one and a half minutes left now."

crimson looked up to notice the grim and sad look on whiplashes face and smiled reassuringly at her, gently using his hoof to turn her face to look at him, "c'mon cutie, don't look so down! its not a good look for you, I prefer you when your confident and happy. I'm gonna win this thing piece of cake! besides, I've survived adventures more dangerous than this! trust me..." said Crimson with a cocky and confident grin.

He said, before beheading the doctor in a single swip of his sword. He slowly slid to the ground "I-I'm sorry..." He mumbled.

Whiplash gave Crimson a half smile, praying his predictions were true. "Well, you better rest if you want to ace this tournament," she said, gently nudging a pillow under his head. Whiplash sighed and knew she needed rest herself, but her mind was still racing about the upcoming events.
