open Gender Conundrum

Frost took her hoofs off of her head and looked Charcoal and ailed slightly, still breathing heavily. "Ok ok. Thank you." she said as she stopped rocking and just sat there still trying to get a grip on the situation. She looked back at Charcoal again. "So now what?" she asked in a shaky tone.

Charcoal didn't need to think. "Now we need to find a way out of here. And not touch anything else in this room." Charcoal tries to stand up but of course with how his legs were it didn't work out too well. "Hey, do you think you could help me walk please?" Charcoal asked.

"You know, that's the sort of stupid stunt I'd normally pull..." Scribe mumbled through a very forced smile as her heartbeat returned to a normal pace.

"Does anypony here know any kind of healing magic or... or something? I'm no use once an injury's already there..."

Charcoal turns to Scribe. "Look, I'll be fine Scribe. I can worry about getting this healed after we find a way out of here."

Frost stood up and tryed to prop Charcoal up on her shoulder to enable him to walk a lot easier. "There." she grunted "Now put your foreleg around my shoulder and lets keep moving." she said as she walked around seeing how mobile they were....they could move, but not fast.

Putting his foreleg around Frost's shoulder he stood up. It hurt enough to make him wince but it was much better than it would be without Frosts help. "Thank you Frost." Walking with Frost it was obvious that they wouldn't be able to move around very fast. Though Charcoal had known that before.

Scribe took point: since Charcoal and Frost were clearly not in any kind of state to go limping headlong into any other traps that might be around. It was also partially because if her guilt - she resolved to listen to her own advice more often...

"There's a door over there, I think." She announced, wandering carefully ahead towards the metal object. "There's no handle though: I can't open it."

'If it even is a door. It's probably just another trap...' she thought pessimistically.

"Thank you for helping me to Scribe." Charcoal said. "It might be a door that needs to be opened by pushing a button somewhere. Though personally I'm not going to be pushing any buttons any time soon." Charcoal thought for a moment. "Do you think you could try pushing buttons using your magic?" Charcoal asked Scribe.

@@Charcoal Embers,

"Uhh... Oh! I've got an Idea!" She said proudly. 'And its even a stupid one this time. Wonders never cease...' Her mind added.

She raised a barrier around the three of them, grunting at the exertion of forcing her under-developed magic. From there, she cast the closest thing to another spell as she could manage while maintaining the first: a blunt, unformed wave of force slammed into the panel, knocking a few other buttons and switches.

Some lights went out. Others lit up. A trapdoor opened up in an empty space at the far side of the room and several more darts almost broke through the shield.

"Whoever built this place is absolutely crazy!" She breathed uneasily. "Come on... one of these has got to open it..."

Charcoal watched as Scribe struggled to keep up the shield spell that did help but it didn't seem that strong. "Hey Scribe, please don't overexert yourself. Even if I don't have magic I have worked myself into exhaustion many many times, so please don't hurt yourself."

Tempest looked over the device and pulled a random lever. A ceiling tile then started to fall where the cyan pegesus was standing. Tempest then smirked as his aura surrounded him and sent a spike into the tile, stopping it inches from his head.. "Well, that was interesting." He said, before stepping out of the way, and retracting the spike. The ceiling tile then fell to the ground, making a large crack.

@@Charcoal Embers,

"I'm fine, I've got this!" She grunted. Spurred on, her horn gave off a static spark as she forced far too much energy into it for her meager abilities: Scribe knew her limits - she just ignored them. It had never hurt her too badly before...

Trying another wave of energy on the same panel - hitting more buttons than before - sent several more traps into action. As the door swung open, a spear struck the shield - splintering as it was deflected but shorting out the unstable magic in the process.

"See? We're fine, and the doors open!" She announced: slightly dizzy but no worse for wear.

Charcoal didn't like Scribe working herself so hard but after she finished she didn't seem like she was in too bad shape. "Well, if you are ok we should see what is through this door. Can you walk me through the door Frost?" Charcoal asked wanting to see what was through the door.

Tempest sighed and trotted through the door. "There's nothing to worry about. "He said. The cyan pegesus then glanced at Charcoal. "I'm assuming there's a plan for when we see the pony who swapped our genders, right?"

Ivy glanced at Charcoal and shrugged, before following Tempest. "This is just getting more interesting by the second." She thought.

@,

Overhearing Tempest, Scribe simply shrugged. "I was kind of just going to beat on him until he changed me back." She answered the question which directed aimed at her: it even sounded like a weak plan to her - even if it was one that tended to work surprisingly often.

"Why, do you have a plan?" She asked, curious for the perspective of one who might have put a little more thought into it.

"I actually haven't thought that far ahead. I was just focused on finding him first." Charcoal said as they walked into the room. Inside the room was mostly just a big map projected on the wall. On that map was many areas marker. All of the areas seemed to be different towns or cites. "Hey, there is Ponyville." He said as he pointed to one of the marked spots.

Frost grunted as she brought Charcoal closer to the map. "Hnngh! So...do you think they plan to do this to everypony and we were just the genui pigs?" she asked looking back at the map and then to Charcoal. "But why would someone just "swap genders"? It seems more like a prank than an evil plan." she joked

(Gonna catch up here)

Max watched in horror as Charcoal was caught under a spike trap, feeling helpless to do anything. She busied herself by searching the room, finding nothing of interest. But when Scribe started setting traps off, Max flew up frantically, clinging to the ceiling for dear life. When all was said and done, she entered the room with the others and saw a map, marking cities with like targets. She looked around the room, and saw started to piece together a theory.

"He...I think he brought us all here to test his plan." She spoke aloud, for everyone to hear.

"He wanted to see if this plan would work. If his device or magic would function as designed. And now he plans on targeting every major settlement in Equestria. He might be planning to gender swap the entire kingdom." Max stepped closer to the map, looking over every settlement, before resting his eyes on Ponyville. His hometown. He looked determined, and turned to meet everypony else.

"I can't speak for all of you, but for me, escape isn't an option anymore. I am not going to stand by and let this maniac do the country what he did to us. I won't leave this place until his device is destroyed, he is imprisoned or dead, and this entire facility is leveled. We can't afford anything of this plan to survive. The rest of you want to leave, that's fine, but I'm stopping this guy or dying in the attempt."

"Just point me in the right detection!" Said Scribe. "Sorry, but I don't do running away. One way or another, I'm helping fix this mess."

She looked around at the wanton destruction of the room: maybe she should 'help' a little less if they were going after this maniac.

"Thank you, but I will pass. I am not one to drink. Plus I don't think this is the time nor place for alcoholic drinks." Max said politely. She has drank before, but has never been intoxicated. Plus being drunk as a mare made him nervous for some explainable reason.

Skitter looked down at the drink

"this is alcoholic?"

She sniffed it it and indeed it smelt like alcohol so she quickly put it down and started walking away.

"Oh well I only had one and half I should be fine unless it was poisoned or it affects mares differently"

She stopped and remembered what happened with the dart and quickly ran back towards charcoal.

@charcoal embers

"Please check it for poison I don't wanna do what I did before"

Charcoal gave Skitter an 'I'm sorry' kind of look. "Sorry, I don't know how to check for poison in drinks. I only knew how to check for poison before because of how much I read. So I guess I could check by drinking it but if it was poisoned then it would just make two ponies act weird."
