What does Luna do?

If Princess Celestia rules over Equestria and Princess Cadence rules over The Crystal Empire, Where does Princess Luna rule? The moon? The small orphans she lured away from her house?

Plus, what kind of things does she do when she wonders off during the day? (Probably Sleep XD)

well, princess celestia doesn't rule equestria on her own.

she rules it with luna, like a coop game kinda.

Yes, I think she sleeps throughout the day. xD   Like, she missed the whole Queen Chrysalis thing..  I assume she just helps look after Equestria at nighttime. I wish she has her own place to rule though. But maybe everyone is still too scared she'll return being Nightmare Moon again. D:

Most likely Princess Luna is the co-ruler of Equestria alongside her sister, Princess Celestia.

 

This is clearly laid down in the second episode of the first season, when after she's been reverted to her normal self by The Elements Of Harmony, she is offered the place of ruling beside Celestia once more.

 

Also, she's most likely taken her original role of raising and lowering the moon every night.

Celestia only rules during the day, when the sun is up. Once the sun goes down and the moon comes up, Luna takes over. It's interesting who takes care of Equestria during the night, though, as Luna is usually dreamscaping.

Luna is just the co-ruler of Equestria with Celestia, and what Luna does is watch over the citizens to appear in their dreams at night.

But in a seriousness dosen't she say "Rest sister, as always I'll protect the night." Or something like that? But like others said she rules during the night and help ponies in their dreams (Sleepless in Ponyvillie) and stuff like that. She probably sleep's or just relaxes during the day though.

She helps Celestia rules Equestria, except she only does it at night, while Celestia sleeps. She also raises the moon, and is like the guardian of the night or something.

 

That's what I think she does, and I'm almost certain it's canon.

Well considering Celestia does just about as much as Toaster in the wilderness, Luna probably has to take care of things such as: paying taxes, baking cookies, planning world domination, building puppy orphanages, destroying any country that has deemed itself useless by the Equestrian government, assuring the current economical standpoint is not set to fail, re-filling the toilet paper holders, dusting off the statue of Burt Reynolds in the courtyard, tending to Clint Eastwood's demands, giving Twilight Sparkle useless tasks to preform, baking more cookies, winterizing travel trailers, rotating the tires on the minivan, ridding the world of DVD players, burning down unused hotdog stands, and most importantly refilling the blinker fluid on all of the vehicles in Equestria.

 

That is what Luna is for. Not that many people give her the respect she deserves...

She spends all night tending to the night sky AND the dreams of little ponies. Which must become exhausting and, I would assume, eventually make her jaded...

 

Pip: "Princess Luna! Am...am I asleep?"

Luna: [arriving, but bored] "Yes, it's me, the overseer of dreams, etc. etc....listen, kid, I've got some advice - "

 

Pip: "Princess, I'm ever so worried about making friends here in Ponyville - "

Luna: "That, right there - cut the whole British accent thing. We seriously don't even know where that place is, or what it is. `Trottingham'? Is that some sort of pig who walks funny? Anyway, your voice probably weirds the other children out and, believe me, I know about funny voices weirding everypony out. So, just talk `normal'."

Pip: [concentrates; speaks and sounds like Ed McMahon] "Like this?"

Luna: "Yeah, I guess that's better." [yawns, stretches] "Seriously, did you know Diamond Tiara has dreams about making all the children in your class slaves?"

Pip: [gasp] "But that's...that's `orrible!"

Luna: "Ah - watch the accent. Just say she's `f*cking psycho'."

Well, just like princess Celestia, she rules along side her sister of all the land in ponyville.

 

It is stated she has her own palace, but that has yet to be revealed.
