Don't know if there's a thread like this here.

Anyway, if you have any questions about remixing, composing, transcribing/arranging. You can ask me in this thread here.

I'll brohoof your post once you've been acknowledged.

How do I make sounds that work together well? Cuz I make these sounds that sound okay when played on their own, but when I play them together they sound so different from each other that it's unpleasant to listen to them.

Maybe the sounds are dissonant

Dissonance is the disagreeable effect caused by certain tones. It's often matched with tension, and stress. Maybe your patterns are completely different from each other.

Make them consonant

This means, the sounds agree with each other.

For instance. If you were to strike the notes F and F# at the same time on a piano. This would produce a dissonant effect.

Oppositely, if you were to strike the notes C, E and G at the same time, this would produce a consonant effect.

So, in conclusion, adjust your sounds to make them agree with each other. You may even have to change some beats.

If you don't mind, how one would start making music? (Just a short little bit about starting in remixing and things like that. )

Well, it's simple. All you have to do to think of melody and let it guide you along. Your mind is the vehicle for everything you do.

Let's say you want to write a song about Daring Do.

Well, let's take a look at Daring Do's personality

1. She's daring (as her name implies)

2. She's like Indiana Jones (hint hint)

3. She can overcome large tasks

Take those into account.

In terms of lyrics, they're just like a story. Every song that has ever been written is meant to tell a story.

Let's continue with the Daring Do example.

Create an adventure through your song.

Here's an example of a song I made for Daring Do:

(Lyrics in description)

Now, in terms of remixing.

Remixing is actually easier than composing an original. It's simple, take an existing piece and make how YOU would do it.

Most remixes are electronic. But, there is a huge realm out there besides electronic.

Just grab a melody and spin it around. Experiment with it. Jumble and randomize the notes.

But yeah, that's basically how to start.

Well thank-you! That's great help! I really appreciate it! :)

Iv'e been trying to figure stuff like this out so I can start making my own music.

I love the song by the way!

Thanks again! Really helped a lot! :D

Thanks, but nah, the problem isn't dissonance. The sounds sound consonant but they just don't compliment each other. Instead

of fitting together like in good songs they just sound seem to fight for the attention of the listener.

It will take you much hard work and a lot of time to make something good, something other people would like to listen to.

(Just sayin, I know a lot of people who gave up because it was too much work.)

You'll need a program to make music, a DAW (stands for Digital Audio Workstation). FL Studio/ Fruity Loops, Ableton Live and Logic are some famous ones but there are more and it all comes down to what feels the most comfortable to you. Just google for some DAWs, download a few demos and mess around with em.

Go on Youtube and search for tutorials on how to use your DAW and make songs, that helped me a lot .

Also go to the My Little Remix,a forum for brony musicians. There are great guys over there who'll help you if you have trouble with making music. Please use the search function there though, before making a "new-to-music-how-do" thread there. There are more then enough of these on mlr

Tell you what, PM me the sound. I could find what you're talking about. That way we won't be just rambling onward persuading each other.

I had that problem quite a few times, but I'll start a new project tomorrow anyways. If I'll run into it I'll send you a PM, thanks dude.
