open The Town

 Sunset backed up a bit as the stallion opened his door and started talking to her.

"U-um... Hi... Um... Ni-nightmares, I guess... Um... A bit... Th-thank you..." she mumbled to answer everything. She noticed his broken horn but ignored it. She hated when ponies pointed out her scars, she doubted it would be much different for him with his horn.

Ember did his best to put on a friendly face, backing a little bit back into his room.  "You gave me quite a scare, you looked like you were in rough shape.  You can come over if you want a little company.  I would be more than happy to talk...  Oh!  I'm so dense, are you hungry?  I know where the cafe is in town, I can get you something if you'd like."

 

He made sure to speak slowly and calmly, trying to help the timid pegasus relax.  Ember wasn't really used to being the outspoken one when meeting a new pony, but he knew how intimidating it could be.  "We don't even have to chat if you don't want to.  Let me buy you something to eat at least, though."

After sarge booked his room in the hotel, he exited the building to go back to the cafe. "Still sleepy," he said to himself, "better get another gallon of coffee. Maybe something frozen if they have any". On his way to the cafe, he put a cap on that was autographed by "Leonard Neighmoy" "Might as well show this off on the way there" he smugly said to himself.

Sunset pawed at the ground, unsure what to say.

"N-no... i-it's okay... W-we can chat if you w-want... b-but I couldn't let you b-buy me something... I-I don't want to be a b-bother..." she mumbled. She already felt she owed him the money for the room, and she didn't want to impose. She stared at her scarred hooves as she spoke.

Ember just smiled, holding out a hoof in a friendly gesture.  "Hey, it's alright, I really don't mind.  You're not a bother, alright?  Let's find a nice place to talk.  And if you change your mind later, we can make a trip to the cafe."  He quickly glanced over his shoulder at the mess he'd made with his work, frowning as his broken horn started to glow.  He started to move some of it aside, but it was a useless effort.  There were way too many scattered supplies.  "My room probably isn't a good place...  I'm sure there are other spots in town a couple of ponies could have a friendly chat though."

Sunset was actually quite hungry, but she didn't wish to impose and make him pay for her, so she ignored it.

"O-okay..." she replied. "U-um... I don't even know wh-where I... Where I-I am,  s-so I wouldn't know any place to talk..." She continued to paw the ground nervously. She hoped he would continue being nice and not ask about anything she didn't want to talk about, but with her luck, he was probably going to ask her difficult questions right off the bat.

"Hey, that's okay.  To be honest, I don't know where I am either!  Hyper mentioned it earlier, but...  I'll be honest, I forgot."  He laughed quietly, hoping it would help put the poor mare at ease.  "We can go for a walk if you want.  See some of the town, maybe find a good spot to just relax..." 

 

He was trying to think of anything else he could do to put the pegasus at ease.  She was obviously uncomfortable around him, but he didn't want to just wish her luck and go his own way.  She had been in pretty rough shape when she got into town, and something in his head wanted to make sure she was going to be okay.
