Dzastur 1,719 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 About &*%#?! time! Reading Rainbow was a great show back in the day. It currently exists in Facebook form. Ms. Speedy McEgghead herself has been teased on there for a long time due to her love of Daring Do. Reading Rainbow finally got in on the fun. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151925854029796&set=a.471828054795.256752.35109204795&type=1&theater (Also, I hadn't known that her Daring Do episode was actually supposed to be called "Reading Rainbow" instead of "Read It and Weep". Cool.) Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 What I'm surprised about is that the comments are civil. Usually when ponies get mentioned on another Facebook page (like how they were on the Power Rangers page a few months back) usually the comments are like "ewww ponies get away" I guess since it's a preschool show they have no argument.

The target demographic for the original show was a little older than preschool. More like 6-11 years. I really wish it'd get back on the air. There are countless stars who I'm sure would love to go on to read a book. Yamato 1,348 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 Dammit Reading Rainbow! How do you always manage to work yourself into my day?! But for serious here, that's awesome. Totally makes my day. This is the greatest OC of all time.
Scootalove 10,689 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 That is what I call nostalgia reminiscing, that is really a good thing to have. A show that I used to watch growing up, and now a show that I enjoy is a good combination. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Smarts 1,623 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 I saw this image in the comments and instantly cracked up. But I'm really surprised how civil everyone is. It is baffling. I have gained some sort of faith (not much. Very little actually) in humanity and the internet. Reading Rainbow was a show I liked to watch back in the day. I wish it would air again. It was so great. 4 IF is best girl.
GrimCW 658 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 Oh god i remember that show.. I also know that if Levar Burton ever left it, the show would never be the same.I see he's one of the masters behind its revival, and to that I'll drink!!.... okay maybe later, to early atm. But wow.. memories right there. They should revive it as a web series this round. No need for big companies to get in the way, no need for network licenses and crap. Let them all beg to get it instead!

Antismurf9001 1,271 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 Holy crap, I had almost forgotten about Reading Rainbow. It was a great show and it's nice to know that they've found a way to still be relevant. Oh, right, and the fact that they included Dash is pretty cool too. Dark Qiviut 22,447 September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 (edited) @, You really shouldn't be surprised. Reading Rainbow is a thirty-year-old brand; many of us (including every single staffer here but one) weren't born by the time it debuted. While audiences like Mass Effect tend to screech at a ponified fanart, therefore becoming troll-bait, Reading Rainbow's audience is much more composed, as it instills a high-quality standard of education to inform people of all ages around the world how fun and important reading is. A lot of RR fans are parents of children, and many bronies — many parents of kids themselves — love to read, so you'll likely see both fandoms coexist. Add to Reading Rainbow's high respectability, nearly universally praise, overall reputation of setting the strict quality standard, and impact on many adults' childhoods, you'll have to look hard to find anything negative towards the brand. ReverseFaller 2,484 September 8, 2013 Share September 8, 2013 I remember this show! I loved it when I was a kid. I'm glad to see they included Dashie, as she's pretty much perfect for this. In fact I saw a shirt at an anime con earlier this year that said Reading Rainbow. (With Dashie on it of course) Credit for the signature goes to Kyoshi

Yeah, most of the older fanbases are more composed about it and don't throw a fit. It's usually only kids trying to look tough that cause the trouble(God, I feel old being able to say that) "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that." -Duncan McLeod.

It's usually only kids trying to look tough that cause the trouble(God, I feel old being able to say that) On the internet.. In the regular world where they're too scared to say things, many members of the "older generations" will slander anything they were raised to be against for one reason or another. Nature vs Nurture showing its dark side.. We've all been brain washed in some form or another. Its just a matter of finding our OWN opinions on things, rather than going by that which we were taught. Sounds a lot easier in words though don't it?
Argumedies 1,748 September 8, 2013 Share September 8, 2013 Reading Rainbow was one of the first things I thought of when that episode first came out and I'm surprized its taken this long for them to catch on. I see this as a plus, using FIM in a manor that gets children interested in reading and shed a positive light on the Brony community by joining togeather for such a worthy cause
Shawn Parks 1,798 September 8, 2013 Share September 8, 2013 That's pretty cool. I didn't even know that "Reading Rainbow" was still around. When I was a kid, I thought that show was great. But you don't have to take my word for it.
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 September 10, 2013 Share September 10, 2013 Very interesting. I do remember that one as a kid, but every time I hear reading rainbow, I ALWAYS remember this line ever time I hear it...
