I'm trying new styles (like noire) and need volunteers. The only reason it's locked at the moment is because I'm not doing straight pony pics so some people might be put off with the results.

 

It might be a while before I'm ready to re-open as I need to practice with new photoshop techniques and the results will likely be very hit-and-miss.

 

Just to reiterate for all, I need volunteers for:

 

Noire (private eyes, gangsters, tommy guns, smoking)

Dance (swing)

Burlesque (think Moulin Rouge)

1920s,30s,40s fashion and culture

Pinups (incl. nudes although they won't be posted here*, note that I said "nudes" and not "porn", I'm going to keep it classy and artistically driven)

Action (such as fighting, chasing, facing-off etc)

Videogame inspired (characters, styles, themes)

Gothic/morose (think Tim Burton, Edgar Allen Poe or Don't Starve, not goth music and fashion)

 

All of these can be pony, humanized or anthropomorphic (half human half pony) or anything inbetween.

 

Yes the scope has expanded but these are the things I want to create so rather than simply going my own way I'm going to invite you all to come along for the ride. This doesn't mean I wont be returning to straight ponies, it's just a change of pace and new material for me to work with. Looking back I feel I've been playing it safe so I really need to push those boundaries.

Whilst I love me some Metroid, if she were wearing the suit you wouldn't see any Pinkie... pretty much the same reason why I declined a Master Chief pic. Although the key difference here being that Samus does take off her helmet from time to time.

It is locked but... I had this idea that goes well with your current 'experimenting' scheme.

 

Thought of taking Risi again ( you know, the one from the first page  ) and transforming her a bit. Either Anthro/Humanized version of her connected with an image of Le Blanc. I believe Anthro would work better, but it's up to you if you accept this idea or not. I believe it goes well with at least one of the styles you've mentioned above.

Umm, Jet Set Radio is a videogame, that kind of thing. If a game has an interesting art style I'll give it a shot.

If you need specifics....hes a violent drunk who doesn't have many friends. I know you said no alcohol so cider would be lovely.

Been waitin' a loooong time for this, haha

 

Now, unfortunately I do not really have any reference pics for my characters specifically, so unfortunately all of my descriptions of them will be mainly verbal, with perhaps some pictures of other things as reference. 

 

Now it's just a question of who do I want to request first? I have so many!

 

OK, I'm thinking I'll go with Captain Carmus, as he's pretty straightforward I'd say. Normally, I'd ask he be drawn with Spitfire, but seeing as that's a group pic, a solo for him will do. I do not have a character page for him here yet, as I have not used him in any roleplays on this particular forum site, though I have elsewhere.

 

 

Since you asked for a little bit about him, I'll explain: Carmus holds the rank of Captain in an elite special forces group of the Equestrian Air Force, known as Raptors. Seeing as I haven't fully designed it in my head yet, and it would most likely end up being fairly complicated, I will not ask for his armor's inclusion. 

 

Carmus' is a born leader, and a brilliant tactician when it comes to field operations, or everyday life - though he sometimes goes overboard with that bit. His cutie mark is that of a flag/banner blown in the wind, enclosed by a circle. In color, it is a plain grey mark with a faint emblem of the Royal Sisters in the center, though as this is not colored, it doesn't fully matter how it looks so long as it's a flag.

 

Personality wise, Carmus is confident, but knows his limitations, and the limitations of his team, so he isn't entirely arrogant. He does tend to over think some things however, and takes honor very seriously. When not on the field, he has a powerful sense of humor, and is friendly. On the field, he is almost a different pony entirely, becoming serious and practical. Though some may not think it, Carmus is a family oriented individual at heart.

 

 

As for his appearance, he has the build of a usual Pegasus soldier (think Celestia's guards for an example, I guess). His mane and tail most closely resemble that of this ponified version of The Kid from Bastion.

 

 

For stances/expressions, I'll give you creative licence on most of it, though if you want examples, I suppose just him looking all confident giving some sort of inspirational speech to rally the troops or something. That, or having him go all drill instructor on some lackadaisical cadet. Of course, it could also be him just having a good old laugh. Like I said, I'll give you creative's licence on that bit.

 

P.S. If you wish to practice on this, you can draw him in his dress uniform. The uniform is rather simple, just a suit shirt, which if it were in color would be prominently white, with two broad stripes of red and black on either shoulder, with the twin silver bar insignia of his rank, Captain. This is entirely optional for you.

 

P.P.S Or even if it suits your fancy, go ahead and use Carmus as a practice for the Noire kind of setting, as either some sort of Private Eye, or gangster. Whichever you see fit.

Okay guys, here's my latest pics!

 

First up is Paradox Shift. This guy had no reference pics and his description was the bare minimum but here he is anyways

 

 

Then I decided to humanize Stardust because who doesn't like a bad girl?

 

 

Then was a random request for Potato Sprout here, ain't she cute?

 

 

Next up is a noire featuring Patent. I really felt this guy reminded me of Rorschach but if I went through with it you wouldn't be able to tell who it was under the mask :s I ended up giving Patent Rorschach's fingerless gloves in a little homage to the hero ;D

 

 

And finally we have Cpt. Carmus himself! I parodied a Wonderbolts poster for this one as I thought it fit.

 

 

 

 

And as a little bonus we have here a pinup of Potato Sprout, I made this one on a whim and discovered that her owner was a young man without any interest in such things so I gave it the caption "it's a secret to everyone" and banished it to the vault.

This is it really, I colour stuff if I feel I need the practice or have a flash of inspiration or have plenty of time on hand and sadly I don't. The commissions really took it out of me and gave me a mini breakdown (long story) so I'm doing requests to relax back into it and rework my creative muscles. Apologies if anyone was hoping for a full colour sketch.
