Dark Horn 430 September 21, 2013 Share September 21, 2013 (edited) Agree 100% PG is the only way to go with an MMORPG. and I can see cutting out the romance option altogether. It's not like it is part of the series at all. players would really be there for adventure, not romance. I certainly would be there for the adventure. On a completely different note, given a choice, I would very much rather play as a pegasus character. How 'bout you? I want to hunt for spell books, and find treasure. *** I really want to loot the Moon Palace..the castle in the Everfree forest from Episode 1 & 2. Hmmm, I wonder what perks and earth pony might get? Better saves, more hit points at each level...Sympathy from other players because Earth ponies can't really do anything... And some of them even have party cannons, I think you know which particular earth pony I'm thinking of. 1 "The most horrible kind of ignorance is to have an opinion on an experience that you have never experienced.""Get off your high horse and give her a hug." Fhaolan 4,504 September 21, 2013 Share September 21, 2013 Under normal circumstances, a game production company doesn't wait for the IP owner to come to them. They don't get the fanbase to 'make it happen'. They don't start building a game, and then hope that the IP owner doesn't mind. Instead, they go to the IP owner with a solid proposal and business plan, and get the appropriate license. Wayforward has been around for awhile now, and has done a lot of licensed games for IP's as varied as the Muppets, Godzilla, Adventure Time, Justice League, Looney Toons, etc. So they know the ropes around licensed games. If the company itself is doing a 'call to the fandom', and not just some isolated employees of the company, then they've got a plan and this is part of the plan. What this sounds like to me, is that Wayforward is working on a proposal to take to Hasbro, and is hoping that if they create enough buzz in the fanbase before putting the proposal on the table this will help convince Hasbro to grant the license. Probably because they've got ahold of the language of the license that Gameloft has, and knows that they're going to need something special to get around that. Hasbro has proven that they listen to the fanbase. Not necessarily very *well*, as it's filtered through a lot of corporate ... culture, before it hits the appropriate ears, but they do hear a somewhat distorted version. Yeah, I think this is Wayforward trying to pull some grassroots support in to bolster the proposal they're about to hit Hasbro with.
notdog1996 315 September 22, 2013 Share September 22, 2013 I feel so bad for not having played a single game of theirs. They all seem so cool, too, especially Shantae. That new kickstarter game seems really cool, though it could use a little more support. I really hope they do get an ok for a MLP game, especially since Adventure Time and Regular Show are both getting games from this company. Zygen 6,066 September 22, 2013 Share September 22, 2013 I don't know much specifically about the company nessarly, but It would be cool asking as its pretty well made. I think an adventure game would be fun, but anything can work frankly. Now, I don't think I'd personally buy it, but only because I'm a closet brony. Regardless Itd be cool. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! My Oc's, Ponysona, Bella Vocal Covers Blog, MLP Covers Thread
Subscriber Denim&Venöm 21,300 September 23, 2013 Subscriber Share September 23, 2013 I'd buy it in a heart beat. Hell I'd pre-order it in a heart beat. As much as I'm liking the customizable MMO option, I'd prefer to play it as a fighter (Yes, like Fighting is magic) or as an open world beat 'em up like Arkham city. A sandbox game would be intense. Do what ever you want involving your OC, kinda like Saints Row or GTA (except rated E 10+) (like parents actually pay attention to ratings anymore)
Creamy Arty 6,252 September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 Absolutely, I'd buy one. Part of me hopes it would be cross-platform on consoles and PC, but something tells me that a handheld game (3DS and Vita) would fare better. Portable ponies! And if it was an RPG, that could make things even more interesting; the 3DS' streetpass feature could be availed here. I think everyone brought a 3DS to BronyCon. I'd prefer an RPG/Adventure game myself. PonyKart wouldn't be my thing at all, I like my platformers indie, and the only action MLP game ideas I can think of involve a disproportionate amount of Rainbow Dash. A puzzle game? I'm sure it would be just like many others I've played before, only with a pony theme. Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Jack Spades 162 September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 I don't give a flying potato what type of game it is. It could be horror and I'd play it. As long as it's a MLP:FIM game, I'll buy it just to see how it is and stuff. Half insane! Half jokester! All brony! ReverseFaller 2,484 September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 Yeah, I'd probably pick it up. A 4th gen MLP game could actually be kind of fun. It couldn't be any worse than that Pinkie Pie DS game that's out already, for like 3rd gen or something. DustJacket 213 September 23, 2013 Share September 23, 2013 I would vote for MMORPG or... live-simulations like The Sims but it's online. MMORPG; PvP, PvE, RP, that sort of things... it'll be good and rich, and PvP, ponies versus ponies like Fighting Is Magic how is that, also for PvE, dungeons and raids, killing King Sombra over and over again. And also, simply imagine how would the ponies look in their armor. However as for live-simulations; creating your own pony family in Ponyville or Canterlot or any other pony-countries in the pony-world. And online as well, you could interact with other players and their pony-sims similar to MMORPG but more decent and calm and peaceful.
