Let me introduce myself first, my name is Charlie, I am a changeling, who worked under Chrysalis until about a year ago. Until then I've been hiding all around Equestria and working as a spy for a living. After all, I need to gain some bits to cover my living expenses. Doing so, I found out many things, however it was a rather difficult time. Right now, I am residing in Ponyville, always imitating a different pony. Ponies don't really like changelings all that much and they are rather feared and hated.

 

You are probably wondering why I stopped working for Chrysalis. It happened during the Royal Wedding, I met a certain pony and instantly fell in love with her, but love was forbidden for changelings. It is seen as a threat to the system the changelings have created. Changelings have to obey, no matter, what, otherwise they will be exiled and you don't really want to go where all the exiled changelings go. I turned against her majesty and decided to stay with my love, she helped me escaping from my fate as a changeling and kept me in her house, until one day we had a fight and she forced me to leave. It's been six month since then and now I settled down in Ponyville, imitating other ponies to protect the peaceful life I have finally gained.

 

If you have any questions you'd like to ask me for example about my life as a changeling or just my daily life, feel free to ask me.

 

(Okay guys, I was feeling like trying something like "Ask a pony" as well and I think it might be interesting playing the role of a changeling. This is my first try on it as well, I'll do my best!)

Currently I'm hiding, if she finds me and comes after me...well let's just say, I won't be able to answer your question anymore. She is a very strict queen and also very good at torturing and mind control so...

It really depends. Before I can imitate somepony, I have to learn about their daily routine, friends, hobbies etc. it takes quite some time but once you get the hang out of it, it is quite easy to do. Of course sometimes there might be a few awkward situations where some sort of memories are needed that are shared by certain ponies and once something like that comes up, I try to change the topic.

 

I have imitated at least 20 ponies by now and I really think, I shouldn't tell you each and every one of them. It really depends on when a pony is busy and I can take her place elsewhere.

 

Who knows, maybe I should pay you a visit then sometime? After all I'm looking for ponies who accept me for who I am and I was already pretty afraid to start this Topic, so I'm glad if there are ponies accepting me as a changeling!

So. You say you are in Ponyville. I see you didn't mention a change in diet. That means you are feeding off the love of innocent ponies.

Tell me, can a changeling over-eat? Can you get drunk with too much love?

First of all, I think, you can't overeat on love, at least I never heard anything like that. As for getting drunk, it's quite different. Feeding off from love makes you more powerful, so it's not making you drunk, you merely get powerful. However Chrysalis never allowed any of us changelings to talk to ponies or even be close to them without permission. Love is a really dangerous weapon around here, as it is only allowed to the queen and certain chosen changelings selected by the queen to assist her.

 

Aside from that, I am not feeding off any love from the ponies around me. But to explain, I have to tell you something else first. There is a difference between feeding off love and being loved. As I mentioned in my first post there was a pony I fell in love with and she loved me just as much. During that time we were together I felt a surge of energy I can't explain. I felt like I could do anything. Feeding off love means forcing someone to love you so you can use it as energy. In my case however it was different. I didn't force her to love me, she loved me for who I am, therefore it was a lot more energy than the usual method.

 

No changeling knows how powerful one becomes once he feeds off so much love, as it is forbidden to fall in love with a non-changeling. If anyone is found out doing it, he was exiled right away and never heard of again, that's what the legend says.

 

Basically, real love is eternal, therefore the energy did not vanish, instead it was constantly kept at a certain level, because it was not forced at all. I managed to feed off that love for almost a year and if I don't use my powers too much, I can keep living like this for another 4 or 5 years. If I got into a fight with Chrysalis though, I'm certain to lose, that's why I have to hide.

 

If a victim is drained of love all that remains is hate and despair. Centuries ago, when changelings were more powerful than they are now, they imprisoned ponies to constantly feed off them until there was no more love left inside, afterwards they were sent back to their homes, causing trouble. Today, this is no longer allowed for changelings because if they feed off a pony completely, it might end up doing something wrong and eventually ending other ponies lives, leaving behind less "resources".

 

Basically changelings have a pretty dark history, but they have become "a little better" but still are evil creatures. If only I could've been born a pony. :/

Ahh, don't go! D: You weren't thrown out of the wedding, right? And like Mayor Mare said, everyone at the wedding makes life all the more interesting and joyful in their own ways... if Discord can be accepted by Ponyville after all he has done, then so can you.

I'll have to go with Spring. The time when the trees start blooming, their natural change is beautiful and inspiring for me to become the pony I've always wanted to be.
