gaming Being A Gym Leader: Re-Boot

Skeletor Brony

Recommended Posts

Welcome to mah topic! I was playing pokemon and started thinking about the gym leaders. I was wondering: Why do they have all these (what seems to be) rules? They can only have 3-4 pokemon of the same type, they only get one full restore, and they can never get sacked or quit. So I thought I would ask you guys some gym leader related questions. ehem...

1. What city/town would you be a gym leader for?

2. What type of pokemon would you use?

3. What pokemon of this type would you choose?

4. What game would you want to be in?

And the most important question...:

5. Would you even want to BE a gym leader?

Hope this isn't too much for one topic! XD

Please leave your thoughts below and I will respond as fast as I can. I can't wait to see what you think!

Good day,

Mac.

It seems like they're restore items are dependent.. I think some have used more then 1 full restore, although not sure.

They do focus around a type.

Anyways, as for the actual questions.

1. Um, hard to say, I really don't know if i have a city preference ;p.

2. I would probably use Dark types, because first of all there are no gyms with it so far, and i quite like dark types, that or steel maybe, but dark is my primary choice probably.

3. Um, depends on how many i would be allowed. But my strongest would be Umbreon, since hes my favorite pokemon atm, then i'd probaly have an Absol, and a mightyena. Probaly throw in Bisharp, and Houndoom, and Hounchrow depending on my restrictions ;p.

4. A new game entirely ;p. Idk honestly xD.

5. Well, in a real life situation or something, no, because it kinda sounds restricting, and i'd rather adventure around then stay in a gym all the time.

in a non realistic situation, sure why not ;p.

And no worries this isn't to much, far from it xD, i've seen much much more questions and characters in a post before.

I have to go to night class right now, but this topic is awesome and I'm sooo posting when I get back! Also, Umbreon, Absol, and Mightyena are all three really cool Pokemon; just felt like mentioning that. lol

1. No idea what town

2. Either steel or fighting, not sure which one

3. Steel: Lucario, Bastiodon, and Forretress (I believe that's how it's spelled.) Fighting: Lucario, Machamp, Blaziken (This is assuming you can have up to three like near the start of the games)

4. Doesn't matter

5. I might... Depends on if I feel like I'm good enough to be one

Each gym has it's own set of rules. As for having one type, it's their choice to specialize in their favorite types.

The later champions balance a range of types, which shows their mastery in different areas.

1) City: The natural landscape of Kalos is inviting. I'd be happy anywhere with fresh air though. Saffron City is a consideration since I'd meet Sabrina.

2) Type: Psychic

3) Team: Alakazam, Gardevoir, and Delphox.

I could call for a 3 on 3 battle in my gym, but real battles aren't turn based- and each of those Pokemon are a master in their own right. I've given plenty of thought to strategy and personalities for [humanoid] psychic types and every member of my other dream team. The challenge would be excessive, so I'd "only" require them to defeat one of the three.

4) Game/Region: Kalos for the atmosphere. Plus, it houses all known generations of Pokemon.

5) Adventuring and meeting others would be the choice at most times, but I'd fill the role for a while. Being a benchmark for aspiring trainers allows me to help them as well; however, I'm better suited as a wandering trainer (similar to Steven).

I'd keep developing the bonds with my Pokemon while traveling the world.

Edit: Post was a mess of in-game and anime logic. Revised to fit life in the Pokemon world.

I believe certain Elite Four members have used multiple healing item. Don't recall Gym leaders doing so, but I'm sure there's no rule against it. Same thing with having only one type, it's their choice to specialize in their favorite types (that, and it's a tactic for showing off the strength of each type while teaching travelers the strengths and weaknesses of them all).

4) Game/Region: Kalos for the atmosphere and being able to actually sit on the bench after all that walking. Plus, it houses all known generations of Pokemon.

Which pokemon is Delphox? Either

1. I missed something

2. That's not a real pokemon.

or

3. You may have just misspelled the name of a pokemon

I won't say anything other than...it's a Kalos Pokemon :P Some information leaked, so not surprising you don't know it.

1. Agate Village! Assuming I can choose a location in a region that doesn't have any confirmed Gym Leaders! That or Fortree City; I really like the those kinds of traditional places that are filled with nature.

2. Always Psychic! Psychic Pokemon were a favourite for me since first I saw Abra in the anime. Sabrina; the sixth Gym Leader of the Kanto region also helped contribute to my love for Psychic Pokemon, they're just so amazing. So since I'm a Psychic-type using Gym Leader too does that mean I get to hang out with Sabrina?! XD

3. I'll be using five Pokemon to battle my challengers with. Keep in mind also that I'd be an eight Gym Leader for whatever region I'd be in, in this case either "Orre" or "Hoenn". It is kind of hard to choose! I'd go with a Metagross which would be the highest of the levels at 52. Then I'd have a Gardevoir and Espeon; both at level 50. Then I'd have a level 47 Musharna. Finally a level 45 Claydol.

4. The game would have to be a new game for the 3DS that would be dedicated to recreating the Orre region, it would have new towns, as well as the old ones. And an entirely new plot! Of course it would also have Gym Leaders and a Pokemon League. That'd be just... amazing. That or a remake of the Hoenn region.

5. Well I've often dreamed of being a Gym Leader, I guess because it'd make me feel strong. I'd love the feeling of having so many other Pokemon trainers look up to me and see me as a role model, I'd also love being somewhat feared as one of the strongest trainers in a region. Especially since I'd be the eighth Gym Leader. I'll admit though... I'd much rather be an Elite Four or Frontier Brain, something like that. Or even a very strong explorer like Steven was in Pokemon Emerald, since Wallace was the Champion instead of him.

Extra Information:

My Gym Leader name would be Mythe (Mi-th-aye). I'd have long black hair, one of my eyes would be a dark shade of brown and the other a crimson red, I'd wear thin black jeans and a caped coat there would be very dark shades of blue mixed in with the colors of the coat though, In a way I'd look a bit like Marth from Super Smash Brothers Brawl  (If you're familiar with that character) clothes and physique-wise anyways my clothes wouldn't be the same color though of course. On the right side, just above my heart would be a mysterious symbol with some sort of relevance to the storyline of the game. Anyways... my character would also have a Celebi, this Celebi is like a best friend to him, as it has remained by his side since he was a young boy. Personality-wise he'd be mysterious, strong, highly intelligent, and somewhat omnipotent. His weakness would probably be his Pride, which is the one thing he doesn't have much control over.

Anyways, that's the Gym Leader I'd love to be! I had fun coming up with that! Gym Leader with a legendary Pokemon for the win? LOL /)

1. Some town preferably in a new region.

2. Flying.

3. Gyarados, Landorus or Gliscor if I can't use legendaries, Salamence, Skarmory, and whatever a strong new Flying type Pokemon is for that region(preferably some new Fighting/Flying type).

4. A new one.

5. To show trainers the superiority and versatility of Flying type Pokémon! :yay:

I'd probably want be the last gym leader in my region since I'd want to have 5 Pokémon and they'd be so strong. ;)

They usually do use a certain type, but there is always those random mixes. Like Brock. He has a couple Geodudes, an Onix, and a Zubat. Fuckin' Zubats, man...

Weren't you here for my first post of this? People don't usually understand how to use flying types. It's about tactics when you use flying types. They are all like: OMG, this bird's so weak.

Oh my lord...

Id love to be a gym leader. Id prefer to be the last one in the region or even at least one of the elite 4.

As for the type, definitely water. Id really want a nice mix of my 3 favorite types (water, ghost, and steel). Thankfully, i can have some of that with

the newer gens and still be a water based leader.

Hmm, if i must make a list now of the poke's id want, i guess id take Blastoise, Feraligatr, Jellicent, Empoleon, Vaporeon, and Swampert. Might swap one for a Starmie for dat base speed.

For my team id have to be in 5th gen or up sadly. So i guess id choose to be a leader in Black2/White2.

Yeah, I probably was lol, idr what I said though. :P

And yeah, Flying types are awesome because they can be pretty much anything, it'd be cool to see a late gym leader(as in 7th or 8th) or Elite 4 member with them.

  • 5 weeks later...

1. What city/town would you be a gym leader for? Hmm.. going by town setting alone, how about... Celedon? It has a gaming corner xD But if if I got to use any pokemon game place ever.. Agate Village, my favorite Pokemon game place ever, or to not have the same answer as another poster, the Underground, which I think is pretty cool! So final answer! The Underground!

2. What type of pokemon would you use? I would be.. a dark type trainer. They fit in well in the location of the gym :DD

3. What pokemon of this type would you choose? Umbreon, Shuppet, Murkrow, and houndour (shadow) (gym leaders dont always have a full party)

4. What game would you want to be in? Well my location kinda gives away that I'd want to be in Pokemon Colleseum

And the most important question...:

5. Would you even want to BE a gym leader? I've always admired Venus and her idea of giving away shadow pokemon for trainers who beat the colleseum. So why not start my own gym to have a reason to beat people and give away shadow pokemon, to show people that pokemon are just tools for us humans, anyways. Surely I will be the best trainer, helping people who can manage to beat me.

5. Would you even want to BE a gym leader? Of course I would! I'm always up for competition, to see if anyone could be able to challenge me and defeat me to win the gym badge that my gym offers. So, bring it on!
