What tablet do you use?

I'm currently in the market to get a drawing tablet but i'm not really sure which one to buy. My main use for it will be for fan art, and editing. Most i'm willing to pay will be $300. I was told Wacom is a reputable brand for tablets. Just curious on what tablets you guys use so I can get an idea on what to get.

I don't think he means "those" kinds of tablets. Rather, drawing tablets. Things you plug into your PC and make art on. You know what I'm talking about right?

Hehe, he meant a drawing tablet silly, unless I'm the one mistaken. laugh.png

I used to have a bamboo fun tablet and it worked pretty good. It was rather small, but it was the best tablet I've ever owned.

I use an iPad for a lot of painting and drawing with the paint app on there. With a lot of practice, it's a pretty good drawing tool.

However, if you're looking for a tablet EXCLUSIVE to art, the Prometheum Tablet works well.

Do those bamboo tablets come in larger sizes? Like medium?

This one is 8.5" x 5.4" so I think that would be good enough. And it is for a pretty decent price, but I'm sure there's a cheaper one somewhere though.

That looks like a real good one, going to look into it. And it's compatible with Macs so that's a plus. Not bad for $180.

Any other recommendations guys?

You should get the Intuos5 medium pen & touch. I'm personally not using it, but I've only heard good things about it. And it's by Wacom, which is a great brand. http://www.wacom.com/us/en/creative/intuos-m

And it looks so amazing. :3

I personally use the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch, though.

I use the latest iPad as a drawing tablet  which i seriously WOULDN'T recommend if you are serious about drawing, they're not 100% accurate and tend to get very slow when you have too many layers.

I used a cheap Wacom bamboo a couple of times, it was accurate enough but i just couldn't get used to drawing in one place and seeing it appear somewhere else, hence why i still use my iPad. Make sure when you're looking at drawing tablets you very carefully read its drawing pad size, i found when i was looking at different models of Bamboo the response area is not the whole "pad" of the tablet, more a select area inside.

For example, in the below picture, i would have expected the entire pad to be a drawing surface, but in fact it is only the region within the small grey squares (where the pen is centred).

Oh man, that was some good info there. I definable want something with a decent amount of space to draw on.

Yeah I wouldn't use an iPad for this kind of stuff. Not really what it was designed to do. I'm looking into 4 different tablets at the moment.

I actually use a Genius i405X. It's pretty decent and cheap altogether.

I still am using it up to this day.

But if you want a decent amount of space, then go for the Wacom Intuos5.
I've used it once with my cousin and it is nice to use.

I've owned several Wacom tablets, and they've all worked very well. Wacom tablets generally are the best you can get in my opinion. I've always found them to be reliable, they work well, and have great accuracy.

I got myself a Wacom Bamboo Capture I bought last July. The tablet itself was $75, and the pen was around $30. I've got no issues with it. It has pressure detection, which is a must have if you're gonna be arting. Easy to install the drivers, but the default settings on it have haptic feedback that causes some bad lag. Just disable it and it'll be fine.

Just looking at it now, I think it's around 8 x 5".

I actually have this drawing tablet I don't use because I don't draw anymore (and even when I did I wasn't good at it.) Since you're relatively close by, I could probably give it to you (provided I can convince my parents to let someone I don't know except through an online forum to take something I never use.)

I don't really know how good it is, though... iirc I got it for either my birthday or for Christmas in 2008, used it once and never touched it again because I'm not an artist. Unless you're talking about a network topology, because given enough time and motivation I can make a really beautiful network topology.

No worries bro, I dont want you going through all that trouble. I don't need one asap, just getting a few ideas on what to buy and i'll make my purchase within the next couple of weeks or so.
