Would you like to see one of the Mane Six go bad temporarily?

someone is going to point out night mare rarity from the comic,

 

but i was gonna say we're never gonna see one of the good guys go over to the dark side? 
I liked the episode of Shaolin showdown where Ramundoe went over to the Hailin side.

 

There's nothing so awesome as a good guy turned bad

and yes we got the discorded members in the return of harmony but that was more discord using his magic to straight up change and corrupt.

 

I think it would be neat to see one of the good ponies on the show make a bad choice, and continues to make bad choices spiraling down.

Anyhow, watching a character having to wrestle with their darker sides certainly can be very interesting, although they've managed that well enough already in MLP FiM without having any characters actually go evil. I don't think that any major character is at the point where they could go to the dark side plausibly. Wreck everything accidentally? For sure. But I have a tough time imagining one of them getting caught into a downward spiral of corruption. If they were going to turn evil, magic would have to be involved in my opinion. However like in Magic Duel, that kinda dilutes the part where you explore the character's motivations and loyalties and all that fun stuff.

Probably not exactly what you're talking about, but I think we got a taste of such a thing in "Putting Your Hoof Down". Not exactly "evil" per se, but Fluttershy definitely wasn't headed in a good direction; perhaps twisting the story around in which she did not have her realization moment, and having her become progressively more aggressive and mean would suit you?

If they could somehow show the melt down they have before turning evil, like they did in Lesson Zero, but have Twilight or whoever turn evil at the end, it could work.  I think a good guy dueling with badness with their mind melting down is a lot more fun to watch then a just straight out evil transformation.

I think it would be cool to see Celestia have a NMM moment but have it be relatied to some kind of solar event that happens rarely like the comet in the comic or some unusual ecpilse event like a red moon or something.

This actually sounds pretty cool to me. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this happening. I've always wondered what a more serious Equestria would look like. It'd probably be a great season, if this was actually made.

Don't misunderstand me having something like that happen could make for an awesome season in my opinion. Both having one of the characters (mostly notably Twilight Sparkle) fighting against their darker side and having a villain who plots and works against the characters ,while still keeping in the "spirit of the show", for an entire season could turn out really well.

 

I'm not sure I would like if things kept being serious all the time though. I think I'd miss episodes like "Hurricane Fluttershy" or "May the Best Pet Win" (random episode that popped into my head) and other more lighthearted ones. It would be great to have an entire season like "A Canterlot Wedding" or possible even more serious but a permanent change to the darker could (for more than one or two seasons) wouldn't work all that well for me.

The whole thing about Twilight learning dark magic and isn't that great and idea, mostly because we see Celestia using it and chances are in much dark times she's probably called upon it before to cause total devestation. I'm pretty sure combining dark magic with her sun based spells would turn any area into a fire pit.

 

Its also basically Sunset Shimmer, not being taught dark magic and running of to mess about with it herself.

This already happened in the comics and it was magnificent.

 

The fandom has made evil Pinkie/Flutters too obvious and overdone to be entertaining, and I just can't see it being done well with Rainbow or AJ. That leaves Twilight or Rarity. As the Nightmare Rarity arc shows, her seldom-seen insecurities make her an interesting baddie without being too obvious. However Twilight has the whole alicorn-level magical potential and brief interactions with dark magic, which is a great set up already. I vote for Twilight.

 

Dunno whether or not I'd enjoy it, though. It'd certainly be nice for a more mature theme, but personally I think that's best left for the comics and leave the light hearted entertainment for the show.

It depends 

Evil Pinkie and Flutters are pretty much the fandom's job and have done it to death and then some, so seeing them go bad would be boring and disappointing(plus PYHD sorta counts for FS)

Rainbow Dash would strike me as an incompetent bad guy and wouldn't be very fun or entertaining(especially of MMDW is an example to judge by)

I liked what the comics did with NM Rarity, so it would be cool to see that as canon

I don't know about AJ, I'd actually love to see her as a bad guy. but I just don't think she could be the bad guy type, but crazier things have happened

I would love to see evil Twilight, she has the amount of power that could lead her to become more corrupt
