This is my first story ever, aside from a few D&D background stories. I want it to be an organic process. The story will grow and mature as I do. I don't know where the story will be headed. It is an adventure for me, as much as it will be for you.

Chapter One

Prologue

They came from the starry night skies. A village burning. Panic. A small girl sat on the streets amidst the fires. A tear flowed down her cheek. Her mother had perished, just like her spirit. A tall, dark figure was approaching and she clung to the doll in her left hand. It was a doll made by her mother when she was still a baby. She had cherished the lifeless object as if it was her little sister. "Everything is going to be alright, Sora," she whispered. The tall figure now stood right in front of her. She closed her eyes. It seemed time in the valley stood still for just a moment. It was in that very moment that the five year old girl accepted the fate that stood before her. She could hear the roaring noise of the blazes surrounding her. A swift sound reached her ears, before everything went silent. The doll fell on the cold stone ground.

Far to the east, a Samurai wakes up from a nightmare.

A strange feeling ripped through his body. It seemed the Great Evil had finally found its way into his mind. It had already taken so much from him, but he remained strong.

The moon shined a bright thin line of light through the curtains. The light reached the eyes of the Samurai. He stared out of the window to the moon. The Samurai felt as if the moon was staring back at him. A cold chill ran through his spine. He closed the curtains and laid down on his bed again. Staring upward at the ceiling the Samurai tried to find peace in his mind. Numerous thoughts were swarming around in his head. After a while he managed to clear his mind. One memory remained and a few moments later he would dream about it.

The sun was shining brightly. He had crossed the last bridge and was nearly home. The village was small and lay in a peaceful valley. In the distance a waterfall was pouring down. A warrior's family lived in the village. They were eagerly awaiting his return. He had gotten a few months leave and wanted to spend that time with his family as much as possible. When he finally reached the village, he was greeted and praised by everyone. He had single-handedly defended the village against bandits years ago. The villagers saw him as a hero. He made his way toward the last house of the village. He lifted his head and saw his home. A woman was standing on the porch. As he came closer he could see that she was smiling widely. A small girl with a doll in her hands walked out the front door. As she saw the Samurai, she rushed towards him. "Daddy!" the girl screamed as she jumped into his arms. "I missed you so much." The Samurai looked at his daughter and smiled. "I missed you too, my dear." With the girl in his arms he walked towards the woman. Her smile was the loveliest thing the Samurai had ever seen. She walked towards him and hugged him. They looked each other in the eyes. They said nothing, because no words could describe what they were feeling. The sun shined on her face and the Samurai got tears in his eyes. He had never felt happier than he did at that very moment.
