Cyan Blue 946 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 Should I wear brony related items to school? I wouldn't wear something that just says "brony", but something like for example: Fluttershy ya t shirt. I am a male and I am afraid to get called a "fag" and "gay" I really can't decide, can you guys help? Moonlight 7,288 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 Personally, I recommend getting a shirt that only bronies will recognize...it would make everything a lot easier. You can wear it and not care what everyone thinks or you can not wear it at all. I just wear a half zipped up jacket (which is a Derpy Jacket) on top of the shirt. Just do what you think is best. Personally, I think you should wear it and not care what anyone thinks...you can't expect nothing but positive reactions to things all your life. People are going to be rude, we're humans, of course. Wear it and wear it proud. 11 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
TheSupremeLeaderOfChaos 1,210 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 Well, you might attract some brony girls! Hehe. So personally, I don't think you should care. If they are so close-minded then they don't deserve your time. I've worn a pony belt, and I was called gay.... though I'm a girl, so I'm not sure if they were referring to me or the belt. But they're my friends, so they got over it and just don't talk about it anymore. Surprisingly enough, no one else commented on it, except for a few bronies who noticed. Anyway, my response to my friends calling it gay was, "Well, yes! It is a very happy belt, thank you for noticing!" They stopped bothering me after that. So go for it! You watch a show that was made for little girls' entertainment. Doesn't mean guys can't enjoy it too! Who the heck cares? Trust me, people make a huge deal of it on the Internet, but in real life, no one really cares. 3 Signature made by- Kyoshi Make sense? Oh, what fun is there in making sense? -Discord I'm So Excited! Hyper Tumble 1,483 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 If you're afraid of getting called gay, I highly advise against you wearing anything brony related, Unless it's obscure, like Wheatley said. maybe a 'Bass Cannon' shirt, or something easy to cover for. 1 You'se a b*tch. - Riley Freeman Signature made by Kyoshi MLP Forums 2nd Most Random Member
Quilled Inc 161 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 Hmm. I think what Michael De Santa said is good advice; wisely pick and choose what you wear. For example, I recently got a shirt with Twilight Sparkle on it, but it is drawn to look like "A Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh; at first look most people don't identify that Twilight is on the shirt at all. However I for one wear my 'pony swag' and wear it proudly! I don't personally care what people call me, but I display that I am what I am to all and if they don't like it, well tough. Which is odd because usually I'm really introverted and shy about these sorts of things, but when I became a brony I felt this immense need to spead the word and to not hide the fact that I am what I am. So yeah, that's my two bits. 1 Analyst - Writer - Musician - Voice Actor "A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities..." ~J.R.R. Neon Blast. 1 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 I would do it. Don't listen to what anyone says, express yourself and wear brony shirts. I have a Rainbow Dash shirt, and nobody really cared, but my friend, since she's a MLP lover like me, loved my shirt xD But enough about me. Aura, you wear what you want and don't listen to anyone's rudeness.

Pomfritter 165 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 I wish I had stuff to wear to wear to school. I have gotten past the point of my life where I care about what others think, so I am perfectly fine with people judging me over my clothing. Also, I'm in college, so if someone would want to get into a fight with me over something so silly, I would easily be able to get them thrown in jail and then sue them for personal damages. But if I had it, I would wear it proud. Remember that if people are going to judge you over what you wear, then they're not worth your time. Let the people who are willing to allow you to be who you are to make themselves clear.
NocturnalRainbow 248 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 If you're afraid of insults then maybe try wearing something obscure that only bronies would get like suggested. Or maybe you should try and wear whatever you want. Show your pride and don't be afraid of what people may call you, and even if they do make fun of you you know that they're wrong. You shouldn't be bothered by people hurling immature insults such as "gay" and "fag" because those insults carry no meaning. You should try to be confident in yourself and in what you like. (I hope this doesn't come off as me insulting you... just trying to give you some friendly advice ) But if you do want to avoid insults, which is perfectly understandable definitely try something more subtle or nothing at all (If you don't want to take any chances) 2 Oh
KonceptKarma 20 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 In a situation like this I'd like to quote Tyrion Lannister, "Never forget what you are, the rest of the world won't. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you." If you want to show your appreciation for the series with apparel, then by all means do it.
Sleipnir Rising 115 October 24, 2013 Share October 24, 2013 (edited) Contrary to what most people here have said, I personally wouldn't wear any MLP clothing in public. I value having a good reputation where I live. I wouldn't want people to suddenly change their perspective on me, and treat me differently, just because of a show that I like. To me, it's not worth all of the drama and trouble just to wear a shirt. Yes, it's unfair that people would misjudge others for something like watching MLP. But, the world is full of intolerant people, which will never change. I learned to accept that. Jokuc 8,174 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 I agree with above users. If you're a bit scared of wearing a brony t-shirt in school, do what they said. Pick a t-shirt that only bronies will recognize. That's what I did myself for example Though.. That was when I was new to the whole brony thing, now I don't care what people think, I wear t-shirts with ponies on every once in a while If someone called me gay I wouldn't give a shit honestly I mean I even have borderline nsfw pony pics as wallpaper on my school computer, people looked weirdly at me but I don't even care So yeah. But if people in your school are asses and you think you'll be bullied for it, pick one that only bronies will know what it is. http://www.redbubble...nightmare-night oh hey I should get this one too...
Ghost 173 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 As others have said, there are shirts and jackets that only Bronies will recognize. There are also some nice hats too. http://xxflamerunnerxx.deviantart.com/art/BRONY-Hat-360975059 http://www.sears.com/bioworld-my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-brony/p-SPM7197021805P?PDP_REDIRECT=false http://www.etsy.com/listing/154253599/rainbow-dash-snapback-my-little-pony-hat You could also put MLP wallpapers on your cellphone if you feel nervous about wearing MLP related clothing to school. That could be a good way to start if you wanna test the waters and see the reactions you get if/ when people notice.
Scootaloo Is Best Filly 578 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 Yeah, if you're scared about it just do what te others have said. If you wear a shirt with Rainbow Dashs cutie mark or Twilight Sparkle. No one can ever know except Bronies. But I wouldn't worry too much about being called "gay" or a "fag" you know what I think? The people who do that are scared of their own masculinity, and wearing brony shirts could be a real ice breaker and can help you make friends, especially if you're wearing a cutie mark shirt of their favorite pony. Winged Dragon of Ra 55 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 It would also depend on how 'accepting' your school is? I would guess that if a guy were to wear a MLP shirt to college/university it would not be noticed that much since they are more open minded. I know of some high schools and elementary schools in my area that have kids there that bully and tease others. I remember having a neighbor who was a 12 year old boy who wore a pinkie pie shirt to school and he came home crying because of what the other kids said to him. However if you don't mind what others say then you should be able to wear what you want. Hopefully you go to a cool school with other kids that are much nicer. Shanks 10,816 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 If you are worried about what others think that the best option is to as others have suggested wear a shirt that bronies will recognize but haters/troll most likely will not. A good example of this any shirt with Discord on it, the last thing most people think of when they think of MLP is a dragon/chimera like creature with a love of creating chaos. This one Discord shirt I often wear, has gotten many compliments and no negative comments from haters of trolls yet. I have also seen some people wear shirts with human versions of the ponies, and shirts with the ponies cutie mark on them as well. Derpyderpderp 65 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 Well, I've never worn anything brony related, mostly because I don't have anything... But one of my really close friends wore a shirt that said in neon letters '20% cooler, 100% brony', and then it had a picture of Rainbow Dash's face on it, (it doesn't get more direct than that). He probably got more complements than insults, if any insults. While I can't say it from my direct experience, I don't think it would be a big deal at all. Your argument is invalid. Radost 76 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 HAHA! I wear my Luna tea shirt to school all the time, like once a week. Some people point out its from MLP but i am real cool about it, i never had anyone call me a fag for wearing it but if they were not my friends messing with me i would probably punch them in the face XD. I mostly get comments on it and people like the shirt that don't even know where it is from. "You WILL be heavily judged on how you treat others." "Opinion is about perspective, peoples who opinions matter to me the most are those who have the ability to understand different perspectives while maintaining their own opinion." "Projecting your insecurities on other people doesn't solve them, so don't."
Inactive01 5,299 October 25, 2013 Share October 25, 2013 I don't have anything brony related, but my friends are crazy with other shows and songs. And then there's this guy who listens to Miley Cyrus whenever his hockey team wins a game... on the speakers. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/10/17/tyler-bozak-toronto-maple-leafs-defend-miley-cyrus-victory-song/ So yeah. Wearing brony related merchandise is entirely fine in theory. You'd probably get some backlash for it, but if you don't care about that, it's perfectly fine.
