Hello.

This is my first attempt at an evil story, so don't judge me on that fact. This story is largely inspired by the works of Stephen King's "Graveyard Shift".

Please leave feedback and comments. Negative comments will also be accepted.

Enjoy.

IT STARES AT YOU.

----------

Twilight Sparkle paced back and forth through Sugarcube Corner, her striped mane swaying back and forth. She didn't know why a request like this concerned her, If anything, Rainbow Dash should be doing a job like this.

"You're sure that she's down here?", Twilight questioned the orange-coated pony standing in front of her.

"I'm sure of it, Twilight" Mr. Cake replied to Twilight. "We haven't seen her come out of it for six hours."

Mr. Cake pointed over to a door in the far-right corner of the room. It was painted a dark shade of brown. Dust covered the front of the door. The doorknob was the only thing that had been partially clean. Hoof-marks had left imprints in the dust. Whatever was behind the door had not been cleaned out in years.

----------

Dear, Twilight

We had asked Pinkie to take inventory of the cellar. She grabbed one of our flashlights, and headed in. After a couple hours, we had started to get worried, because our cellar doesn't have much stored inside of it. My wife had opened the cellar door, and a disgusting rat had ran outside of it. She screamed. She has locked herself in our room ever since. (I later disposed of it using a broom.) But ever since that moment, the cellar has been making odd noises.

Almost like a stifled laugh.

We are worried about Pinkie. If you can, please come to Sugarcube Corner to help me look for her.

Warm Regards,

The Cakes

Twilight set down the letter, and headed out the door.

----------

"Well Twilight, shall we begin?" Mr Cake had said after a lengthy silence.

Twilight stopped pacing. She shuddered.

"Let's just get this over with." Twilight squeaked.

Mr. Cake grabbed a couple flashlights for them to use. He took them from a drawer inside the counter. He checked to see if they had any batteries in them. They seemed fine. He handed Twilight a flashlight. She turned it on.

They both shifted towards the cellar door, their hooves clicking on the floor.

Mr. Cake grabbed the doorknob. He pushed the door open. It made a great creaking sound.

Both of their eyes widened.

Cobwebs were scattered all over the place. On the ceiling, on the visible walls, and on the floor. Twilight shone her flashlight around the evil-looking setting. Old, blue, wooden walls looked as if they came from fifty years ago. Boxes were stacked on top of each other, Blue staircases stretched downwards from the place where they were standing.

Squeak.

A rat had ran up the staircase, red eyes staring into the souls of the unaware ponies. Twilight jumped.

Mr. Cake kicked it back into the cellar, an emotion of fear was twisted on his bearded face.

"Sh-shall we?" Mr. Cake stuttered.

"We might as well" spoke Twilight, looking back down at the heinous abomination which challenged their sanity. She would take a warm shower after this.

----------

Twilight and Mr. Cake moved down the old stairs. Each one creaked louder than the last one. Moving downwards, Twilight glanced to the left and right sides of her.

They stared.

Red eyes stared.

Their miniature shadows silhouetted from the glow of the flashlights.

Their lingered a smell. A mix of rotting cardboard, mixed with the stench of a dead body. The rats didn't help it go away, either.

They continued down the stairs. They stepped off. Their hooves hit icy-cold stone.

And they moved in.

As the eyes moved into the nearby light of the artificial light, they were revealed to be white-coated rats. Twilight nor Mr. Cake dared to hurt any of them.

It might make the cellar angry.

They moved deeper into the cellar, being weary of the moving eyes. But they only followed the two ponies.

"Twilight, I think It's best if we went back." Mr. Cake managed to squirm out of his lips, walking along quickly. He wasn't fond of the demon-spawn following him.

"We've gone too far to turn back. If we stopped now, we may not be able to make it back" Twilight replied, her eyes emotionless.

And she had a point.

The rats following them made this sort of barrier. If they dared to move back, the rats may take their shot at getting a meal.

Something mental had started to rise up out of Twilight.

The cellar turned, and they both followed. Black-furred bats hung from the ceiling. They flew in front of their faces. Foot-long spiders hung in the background.

"T-T-Twilight..." Mr. Cake whimpered. A bat had roosted on his back. He jumped.

"Keep moving." Twilight replied.

The rats were bigger now. Some of them making grunting noises, their tiny squeaks being turned into hellish screams. Their limbs twisted and turned, getting more mangled as they neared the other corner.

'This thing stretches on forever.' Twilight thought to herself.

Spiders crept above them, their shapes resembling monsters in the glare of the dim light.

"I want to go back!" Mr. Cake cried. He made a run for it.

Twilight winced as she heard his dieing scream. Flesh ripping sounds followed. Bones cracked, blood squishing.

Twilight blindly ran forward.

And then she saw it.

Pinkie.

Her lifeless body was propped up on some ruined boxes. Cobwebs hung all around her. Her pink mane was moving. Half a dozen spiders poured out of her eyesockets. Her face was twisted in a giant shock, as if to say, "WHY DIDN'T YOU HELP ME TWILIGHT?". Half her limbs were torn off by nature's mutations. Dried blood stained her once beautiful coat.

The body moved.

Millions of rats burst out her face, crawled out her stomach, and other places of her body leaked the vermin.

Twilight was hardly aware that she was screaming.

And she ran.

She tried to knock through the wall of rats, but only ended up being bit. Bats ripped off her flesh, and spiders bit through her skeleton.

She started to laugh.

And she continued to laugh as she was ripped apart.

----------

Mrs. Cake came downstairs, still sobbing from the evil sight earlier that day. She glanced around at the peaceful setting of the sweet shop. It made her feel safe.

She returned to the counter, waiting for new customers.

She looked at the cellar door. It was still open.

'Oh, those silly ponies are probably just playing hide and seek down there. Nothing to worry about.' Mrs. Cake thought.

She had heard laughing a few minutes before.

Whatever it was, it was well satisfied with something.

Well, I think I just lost my breakfast there.....I don't feel so good, and I didn't even read the whole thing, I kind of skimmed it, and I've never read a horror fan fic before and um....well this, is pretty deep....and demented (shutter) I'm the guy who tried to watch the walking dead and felt a bit sick at the very first gory horrific body lying on the floor when the guy woke up in the hospital (granted my dad was present and he said turn it off) I was the one who watched a guy's face melt off, in Prometheus, and my dad missed all the horrific bits, I was so scared..I had two nightlights on in my room that night, and the next morning I still shuttered at that image in my head.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not faint heart, I'm the kind of guy who wants to write a fan fic where fluttershy goes insane and kills practically all the mane 6 plus some others, all deaths resulting in a bloody horrific end (I haven't started it yet) so yeah...I might post a fan fic I started or something.

One more thing, this does want to make me read Graveyard Shift now...

Well, I am no stranger to this kind of thing, but it's still feels wierd, maybe I'm realy in the darkess places of the forum?

By the way, is this the most horrific thing we can find here?

(The only thing that is missing is an afterthought or something like that, but, after reading The Rainbow Factory, I might have high standard)

here's the most disturbing / touching sentence I ever read :"You have beautiful eyes" — Scootaloo's last words, The Rainbow Factory
