Possible reason fans are rightfully upset. Just a theory.

Okay Twilight is a princess now, as she has gone from commoner (or rather student) to princess.

This is a major change, and why the story may have for shadowed this, it's simple to much of a chance for a fan to suck down.

 

Fans are running around scard that all of Twilights friends will become princess, etc, etc, and honestly when you think about it it's down right wasteful.

 

Couldn't twilight gradually earned her way up in rank?  I mean she saved Equistrai how many times?  What if she had gotten "Knighted" after beating nightmare moon?

Mage first class?  Honorary royal wizard.  Some kind of title.  a flashey badge,

would much have changed?
sure they could wasted 2-3 mins on a ceremony on screen and 2-3 more with apple jack and rainbow teasing twilight about her new title and rarity gushing over it,

 

I think fans would been like "well that wasn't so bad."

Going from night to dutches.. to regent, to royal advisor,

getting little perks and more access,

to the castle and Equistra (almost like a video game opening up).

 

So when twilight became princess fans would be like "Holy crap what do we get to see now?"

 

Not just that but if twilight would been knight spike could been her squire,

he still very much would been the comic relief but he would have rolled with it.

 

Not just that but i think seeing a sir title (knight) on twilights friends, some distinction would be a nice touch.

 

It sorta bugs me after the main six have done so much that so many ponies are like "who are these losers?"

It's just a thought at something that might have worked.

and if it didn't the show could shelved the idea entirely in it's early stages.

So it's a win, win.

 

Not to mention lesson 0 would made more sense if twilight was having a break down over a new royal responsibility (well regal responsibility )

There's kind of a reason Disney doesn't make any Duchess or Prime Advisor movies. Princess has a particular charm to it. Plus, the lesson-learning thrill of being thrust into a situation you're not sure you're qualified for.

 

Don't get me wrong, I think the princess transformation thing is stupid myself, but I'm not sure I agree about this being any kind of solution.

well see again if the knight idea became so distracting the writers could have her give it up or lose it.

 

and that's not entirely true.

in the second aladin story Al is offered the advisor slot.

had he taken it, it would been a sweet gig.

I did think the transformation was a little sudden. It could probably be reversed if it turns out to be really unpopular (Twilight saves Equestria by giving up her wings, etc), but my personal thought is that they're trying to draw Twilight even closer to Celestia and Luna. It didn't really explain why Celestia put her on the trail to becoming an alicorn in the first place, so maybe the writers have plans for some story arc that will explore her motivation more deeply. I'm reserving judgement for now.

I liked it because it was so sudden.  Wasn't expecting it, and it can open a whole new set of problems and such for the new season.  What I don't like is that as an alicorn, she is going to be way taller and skinnier and just generally look different than her friends.  I feel like it's just going to be quite awkward, really.  And of course as we've seen in EG, she's going to need to learn how to use her wings.  So maybe Rainbow Dash is going to be her teacher in an episode. Sorry, that went a bit off topic...
