The latest and greatest Zelda game is almost here. :yay:

post-592-0-68489700-1385087934_thumb.jpg

Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Publisher: Nintendo

Developer: Nintendo EAD(group 3)

Release Date: November 22(NA, EU), November 23(AU), December 26(JP); both retail and digital(eShop)

In the latest of the 2D handheld Zeldas, we have something a bit more special on our hands. Being a direct sequel to the 1991 SNES masterpiece The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds will take place in that same overworld, except this time fully rendered in 3D, in terms of visuals and effects! But not all is the same- with new things like the ability to stick to walls like a painting, a new villain, a completely redefined item system, and a new parallel world to explore known as Lorule, there should be no shortage of things to discover here.

Why the hell is there just now a thread for this?

Nevermind... I'm pretty excited for this. I'm only hearing positive things, (which is a given for a Zelda game) and only seeing positive things as well. I have no doubt that this game will be amazing.

No idea, didn't see any other topic for it so I thought if no one else will create one, then I will. :P

And yeah, I've only been hearing and seeing positive things as well, seems it may very well be the best thing released tomorrow, perhaps, which of course is not surprising considering it's Zelda. Seems they're putting a lot of heart and soul into this one for sure. :)

I plan to pick this up when I have finished a Link to the Past and gathered enough money to purchase it. I was hoping to get it tomorrow (technically today in my time zone) but oh well.

A Link to the Past is truly amazing, you really should get on that. It took me a few goes at it myself actually over the years, owning the GBA version since around release, but about a year or 2 ago I finally got around to finishing it 100%, so I understand that it can be a hard game to get through. Some of the dungeons like Ice Palace or Turtle Rock can be rather frustrating without a guide or something, but even then you still need a bit of skill, so those were probably my personal hurdles. I'll be damned if it isn't one of the most amazing games ever made though, and so very worth finishing, so get on it! :P

And sorry you can't pick it up right away, that sort of situation is very understandable as well. Hope you can get it whenever you can though! :)

^Currently playing it (well not right now exactly, but you get it). It is, in fact, amazing. Quick question- the Dark World dungeons must be completed in numerical order, correct?

A Link to the Past is undoubtedly one of my favorite games of all time. If this lives up to its prequel, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

...Unfortunately, I don't own a 3DS. I'm not really sold on it yet, since my budget doesn't allow blowing that much money at once. If it gets too tempting, I might just make an exception.

I'm afraid I really can't get myself excited for it. I guess I just can't get hyped for 2D or 2.5D Zeldas, I don't enjoy them as much as the 3D kind.

I'm honestly undecided if I even want it. Going to pass for now.

I probably won't get it.  I feel like the wall-walking thing is going to be the main focus, as it's the new thing they've been hyping us up for, and they might miss out on actually making the game fun in other ways.  But it might be good.  I'll probably borrow it from my friend when he finishes it if he likes it.  The past ds zelda games have been way too easy and so short.  I just am not expecting much.  I love the gameboy games, so hopefully it'll be made more along those lines than windwaker.

For the most part yes I believe, however some can be done out of sequence if you wish.

I've been looking for a new 3ds game to buy lately, as I have some GameStop credit I need to us. I might just get this. I've always wanted to give a Zelda game a try, and I'm thinking this will leave me with a good first impression.

OH MY GEEEWWWWAAAADDD YES! This looks freakin' awesome! I've always been a fan of LOZ games, and I can't wait to get this on my 3DS! Well, when I get one. (I'm leaning towards a 2DS just because I have the perfect amount of money to get it) Along with Animal Crossing: New Leaf this is gonna be the first game I grab!

I hope it doesn't end up like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Track, mostly the last one. This game was simply awful. And the controls for Phantom Hourglass. x_x Simply impossible to make that "8".

I'm not getting my hopes up since it's on a 3DS, but I might try it. So far, I don't like the graphics, but I guess it's just a detail.

This MUST have an awesome storyline.

I want to get this a lot, but I've been saving up for a 3DS XL, so I'm going to have to wait. I might just break down and buy it this weekend. I really don't get the wall-morphing thing, though.

Also, while it's not that relevant, Club Nintendo has some nice posters up for ALBW, so if you want them, you should probably try to get them quickly.

So I've played the game for about an hour and a half now, just finished the first dungeon.

What I like:

-the story thrusts you in quickly enough, no dumb tutorials whatsoever

-the 3D is probably one of the best on 3DS, if not just the plain best. Supersmooth framerate and it doesn't cause any noticible graphical hiccups, aside from a bit of aliasing. Ghosting is not there most of the time which is amazing.

-when you attack a cucco, swarms appear to attack you once again! Not sure why I missed this so much...

-for once, Start and Select have different functions, something most 3DS games don't do.

-pretty much everything else- the visuals exude personality, the overworld is familiar but in a good backyardy kind of way, and the gameplay feels both classic and modern.

What irks me a bit:

-can't poke walls like in LttP, your sword just goes through everything but enemies and breakable/cuttable things, dunno why but I kind of wish there was some kind of wall feedback. Perhaps neglible, but it was a nice little touch I enjoyed in other Zeldas that's not here in this. :/

-saving at statues(weather vanes) is present here ala Skyward Sword, rather than saving anywhere. I put up with it in SS and ended up loving the game anyway, but it's a bit odd seeing this in a handheld title like this to me.

Otherwise though, I'm really enjoying the game so far. :D

weird, it's the opposite for me, I'd rather pick Spirit Tracks than Twilight Princess

I think it's quite common that people prefer 2D Zelda's. Although, picking Spirit Tracks over Twilight Princess is another story. Poor Twilight Princess. =(

bleh, I love 2D/2.5D Zeldas, but the DS Zeldas were easily my least favorite games in the series. If I had a 3DS, I'll probably consider getting this, seeing as how it's a sequel to my favorite game in the series

To an extent I still think Twilight Princess is the most underrated Zelda
