I made the Floor 1 map in accordance to SAO canon.

iiq2.jpg

The Starting City begins at the south and is supposed to cover about 0.8 square kilometers of the map (it's a bit exaggerated, my bad). To the northwest is a large forest; to the east and northeast, mountainous land with more difficult monsters; to the south, another forest; and near the center is a large plain with a river running through it. The dungeon tower is on the north, but the entrance is hidden someplace not far from the tower.

The dungeon has exactly twenty floors with a total height of approximately a hundred meters. The final floor has the Kobold Lord, and covers about twenty meters of the tower. Each floor is approximately five meters high.

The Starting City is a circular city barricaded by a stone wall. It is approximately 0.8 square kilometers with an approximately one kilometer diameter. In the heart of the city is the arced circular area in front of the Iron Palace which is the spawning area for all players that have joined SAO. A main street stretches north from the palace into a fountain and garden before ending in the main gate. Eight smaller stretch outward from the the palace and converging, forming an circular road halfway from the palace to the border. Due south is the busy plaza, while the area near the palace is generally commercial buildings. On the outer section lie residencies; higher classed house lie north, near the garden and the main gate. About a hundred thousand citizens of various species live in this city, though in-game, SAO is not capable of creating too much NPCs in one place. In reality, only a few thousand NPCs can be interacted with.

Hollow Shades is a nearly squared medium-sized town northeast of the 1st floor. It sizes to about 0.1 square kilometers with walls approximately 300 meters in length. A small town square is in the center, along with a theatre that covers a good deal of the northeastern part of Hollow Shades. Some bat ponies can be seen around this area. Bat ponies become more common after the 3rd Floor with the multiple floor quest line that starts after the 3rd Floor to the 11th at «Northmarch».

Back to the topic, Hollow Shades is somewhat populated for its size, having a "population" of 1,800. It is the town closest to the dungeon tower.

Cedarwood is the third largest town, slightly smaller than Hollow Shades and having a more curved and unusual shape. Buildings here do not followed a fixed pattern and commercial and residential buildings are often scattered. To the south is a Nepent Forest, the only area that can potentially drop an «Anneal Blade», a powerful weapon in the early game.

Tevis is a neighboring city not far from Cedarwood, having a T-shaped border. This town has significantly less vendors for its smaller size, lacking a blacksmith as well. A white, small mansion lies to the north of the town, being the only point of interest.

Mills Village is exactly how it's called. Unfortunately, the population in this town is minimal, sizing up to only 120 with it's small number of buildings. Near the southern exit of the town is a cave system that leads east to Cedarwood and Tevis.

Solace is a town not far from Mills Village. There are only two vendors, one that sells both armor and weapons, and another than sells miscellaneous items and is an innkeeper. It is on the far northwestern part of the map, covered by a light forest in the north and a river and plain in the south. Being near the border, you can noticeably see the floor border (marked by a red wall reading "Immortal Object").

Overall, the 1st Floor can be considered a highly populated and diverse floor, with relatively easy to navigate roads and low-leveled monsters. Several geographical features can be seen, and an upbeat music plays on the entirety of the floor.

Need a moment, haven't quite figured out what Zephyr's next step is going to be. When I do, I'll edit this post with my response. BTW when I Brohoof a post, it means that I have seen it and will respond to it either right away or soon. Just a FYI. I gotta say, I'm enjoying looking back and seeing everyone's posts!

So, since I don't have my map for the 2nd floor done, I'll explain it:

The 2nd floor is not much smaller than the 1st floor (80 km²), being only 79.3 km². The size difference is nearly negligible, but an evident difference from the previous starting floor is the geography. The 2nd floor is mostly mountainous in the east and flattens out to a basin in the north. A To the west is a dry desert paved biome (that means winds have blown away most, if not all, sand on the surface). Beyond that is a wasteland filled with higher leveled buffalo-type monsters. Since the western part of the map has less towns or roads to safely travel on, players must proceed to this place with caution.

The main city of the 2nd Floor is the city of Sefiro. It does not have a fixed city shape, unlike the circular Starting City. It is about a kilometer southwest of the dungeon tower.

Mind my double post, but I need to make a clear warning:

Players should NOT be leveling up this fast. Leveling up in SAO is a relatively slow process, and after level 5, starts to take days before a successful level up. Being a beta tester does not completely justify quick leveling. Kirito, the best player in SAO, was in the light novel only Lvl 14 after the 1st floor was cleared, and Lvl 16 when the 2nd floor was cleared ten days later.

And speaking of that, floors only start to get unlocked faster after the first. The 2nd floor took ten days, the 3rd floor took seven, and later, the 21st floor took three.

And since the 1st floor span will be lengthy, I propose a two week time skip to Day 19, which will give us a few days before the final boss fight, which canonically happened on the 27th day of the SAO launch. Around Day 25 could be a good start.

@, This... this should have been said earlier.

Just needed to make my point on the time skip. It's going to take a ridiculous amount of time on the same floor, so we need to agree on some time skip. I suggest two weeks.

@,We'll have to make up posts about what we did in those two weeks. And is it really nessecarry? I am not a fan of big time skips. Unless it's travelling.

Unless you're considering shorter time skips of a week.

I shall finish up my adventure in the dungeon then proceed to the time skip.

We, the active players, have to all agree on this. and need to voice their opinion on the matter, and I think the former had different ideas.

((I want to go to Greece. :( ))

EDIT: I have finals this week, so I will be inactive until Friday, hopefully Thursday, since I don't have school after finals until next Monday.

Well during this time, the rest of us players can proceed to the time skip, or an area where time skip would be allowed.

Just going to place this here.

img-2273511-1-s1cv.jpg

Mainly a mountainous region with a desert on the west. Places underlined in black are towns; largely shaped areas are (usually) cities. The Hanging Outpost and the Buffalo Tribe Reserves are "hamlets", which I will explain now. They are villages much smaller than towns, generally lacking in some services such as a local blacksmith or weapon seller. Hamlets have a small population and size, and are not protected by any defense system, with the exception of inns. Guards will attack, however, when a player is being attacked by a player or monster, or a player has an orange marker.

Another addition is dens. They are defended by enemy NPCs, and can be looted from. When all enemies inside the den are killed or the loot is successfully stolen, the dens will be emptied and can not be accessed for the rest of the day.

I only love you platonically.

As in two bodies sliding against each other.

Try copying and pasting, or if you didn't do that, it should save automatically every few minutes.

Probably connection issues.

  • 2 weeks later...

So... exams end in a week. I'll be up and running then... can you tell me what i've missed so i can know? Maybe gimme a few tips as to what to do when i return?

No one posted for about two weeks, so it should be fine.

@@, Zephyr did.

I for the most part have been dying, and fleeing for my life on my own without others assistance. So your story shouldn't be too drastically different from where you last left off. I think within my next two posts, I should stumble onto the boss room. (Seeing that I'm already hopelessly loss in the dungeon anyway.)
