Armchair Adventurer 211 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 With Christmas slowly creeping up on us again, I have a question in mind for the fine folks here on the forum. What are some of your favorite Christmas specials and Christmas themed movies? Share with those of us who have problems getting into the holiday spirit or just want to watch something they haven't seen before ! In my mind you can never go wrong with Die Hard, Blackadder's Christmas Carol and the South Park Woodland Critters Christmas special . Not exactly cheery ones but they are the ones which I must watch every time December rolls around!

Shanks 10,816 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 1. Family Guy the Road To The North Pole: The episode is hilarious, I relate to Santa to a very disturbing extent which made it even more hilarious and it has one of the best Chistmas songs ever. 2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas 3. The Nightmare Before Christmas: both one of the best Christmas specials and one of the best Halloween specials. 4. The American Dad Christmas episode where Santa tries to kill the Smith Family. 5. The Futurama Christmas episode with homicidal Santa robot. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

SparklingSquirrels 21,357 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 (edited) I think A Charlie Brown Christmas is a pretty good one, but How the Grinch Stole Christmas is more of a classic. I can't say I watch that many Christmas specials, though. Edited December 7, 2013 by PowerStar89 ֍֎֍֎

Armchair Adventurer 211 December 7, 2013 Author Share December 7, 2013 A Christmas Story & How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carry Version) Oh, yeah I love those two as well ! Never had the chance to see "A Christmas Story" all the way through though. I was interrupted by something every year when it was on TV. That's why I bought it on DVD last week .

Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 Forgot to mention personally I prefer the cartoon version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas over the Jim Carry version. I don't hate the other version in fact my dad always likes to quote I just always preferred the cartoon version as a kid.

Wade Barrett 111 December 7, 2013 Share December 7, 2013 (edited) Father Ted: A Christmassy Special - Probably one of my favourite Christmas specials of all time, ESPECIALLY the scene with Father Jack and the "music that makes him stand up". Bottom - "Holy" - This is a quite obscure Britcom, very vulgar that I wouldn't recommend younger viewers watch, but it is an absolutely hilarious show, and if you're a fan of British comedy, then I cannot recommend enough that you do watch Bottom at least once, because it's the kind of dark, anarchic, blunt, crass and dry humour that we Brits specialise in (On that note, you should also watch "The Young Ones"). The Christmas special, to me, is my go-to Christmas special that I always have to watch. (Only linked to first part, but the final 2 parts should be linked to it.) Ho Ho Ho Selecta - Again, this is quite vulgar, but if you're a fan of that kind of thing, it's hilarious. Very odd, bizarre humour and impersonations, but (IMO) utterly goddamn funny. hawkflame 3,310 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 I don't know why A Charlie Brown Christmas isn't a universal selection here. It is extremely well written, and the theme of the meaning of Christmas being lost in the commercial noise still resonates today. Oh, and A Christmas Story, even if TBS plays it to death every year. 3 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite!
Golurk 468 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 Easily, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The cartoon version, not the movie. No offense to Jim Carrey, but it's hard to compete with Karloff's performance in the cartoon. I'm not entirely sure why I like it so much. Perhaps it's hearing Dr. Seuss' writing style narrated out, perhaps I find the style of the animation to be cute. I honestly have no idea, but it's still a tradition of mine to watch it some time during the season. Except last year. I missed it last year. I nearly cried. Indeed. SrFrog 927 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 Santa Claus (1959) http://youtu.be/ma3cfQ2oOQc They keep repeating this film every Christmas on the Hispanic channels, and I'll be honest. The English dubs just make this movie all the more strange, and y'know weird and stuff. "Never give no manipulative bitch the benefit of the doubt" - Compa's grandpa...
