Adding spoilers since the episode just came out lol!

Were you glad that Scootaloo never learned to fly? I was glad she didn't learn how to.

For one, I feel it would have been to soon if he learned how to in the episode, two, I like Scootaloo the way she is, being able to not fly. That's what I like about her.

I know if future episodes, one day, she might fly, which will suck, but it might happen.

No. As good as the episode was, and all of the themes covered by it, I would still be sad if Scoots never flies with Dashie. I'm all for inspiration for disabled people, and the episode did very well with that, it wouldn't be a fully happy ending for me unless Scoots learns to fly. Would I be able to live with it, and think it inspiring? Sure. But at the same time I do hope that she flies one day.

There were too much feels for me, of the negative kind. And Guthix... seeing her dreams crushed by having the thought that she may never fly... heart-wrenching. And no matter how okay Dash would be with Scoot's disability, we all know Scoots would still be upset at the prospect. And scoots being upset= me being upset. Nopony wants to know that they will never achieve exactly the same things as others. Nopony wants to know that the dreams they had won't be reachable. And I don't want anypony to feel that way.

If they made 2-3 episodes of non-flying scoots to hammer home the point that disability can be overcome, it would be enough. Then I want to see a flying scoots performing her own rainboom with Dashie. Although, I do think keeping her disabled would be the better message, I still would not be thrilled with it. I can't be thrilled if I'm crying.

well it worked, despite the miss step about dash saying she was at the cloudsdail game which it never got (games ponies play)

the whole thing worked pretty good for me.

I think dr and ss did a find job as villains in this episode.

and they would got away with it to if it wasn't for that meddling rainbow dash.

Dash never said she was at the Cloudsdale games. She said she represented Cloudsdale at the games, with no mention of where the games were.

Not an error.  She never said she was at the Cloudsdale games, she helped *represent* Cloudsdale at the Equestrian games, presumably in another city.

According to Games Ponies Play, those games took place in Fillydelphia.

why is scoots flying such a big deal? Who gives a crap if she can fly or not? IMO its kind of pathetic not having her fly. I don't care either way but it would be nice to see her fly. Do you all just love her being disabled or something? I mean really...

No, I'm a little sad. Poor scootaloo. Anyways, I'm surprised Scootaloo didn't ask Rainbow Dash to teach her to fly. I would've much rather seen Rainbow Dash explain to her that maybe she can't fly, then seeing her friends basically ditch her. It would've made for a great Scootaloo/Dash bonding episode too.

I feel sad for her. Baby pegasii like that cake kid can fly, the pegasii in her class can fly, DT said it was odd that she couldn't fly at her age.

At what point do we walk into disability as the explanation. I hoped she would begin to fly or at least explore why she can't yet.

I think that people who are feeling sad that she can't fly are basically missing the point of the episode.  The point is, whether she can fly or not, she's still awesome.  If she can. that's great; if she can't, no one should think any less of her because of it.

So I don't think people should feel sorry for her; she's certainly stopped feeling sorry for herself.

Scootaloo's flying-handicap is not the only thing that makes her interesting. She still has her as-yet-unfinished quest for her cutie-mark, as well as the dichotomy between her feisty daredevil-side and her timid insecurities that surface in the Sleepless in Ponyville episode. She has other things that would still make her interesting even if she did overcome her flying-handicap, or never had it to begin with.

Who said anything about thinking less of her, or questioned whether or not she is awesome. Hoping that this would be the she could fly episode has little to do with the point the episode presented. The question are you glad she didn't learn to fly in this episode, answer no I am not glad she didn't learn to fly.

Feeling sad she can not fly does not equal thinking less of her or rating her any lower.

Lauren Faust originally planned Scootaloo as being unable to fly at all, or so I've heard, so that's why it's grown into a big deal. I'm trying to find a quote, but it may just be a rumor. Either way, Scootaloo being unable to fly presents (1) a good plot device, and (2) a good lesson.

If the episode had ended with Scootaloo learning to fly, it would've been very typical and uninteresting as a story. The lesson would be the overly common "work hard and you'll be rewarded." By challenging that moral, this episode brings some refreshing reality into the situation.

Surely all of us at some point have tried to do something that we were never able to grasp, no matter how hard we worked. Maybe attaining it was impossible from the start. "Work hard and you'll be rewarded" is an unrealistic ideal in those cases, and only serves to make you feel like there's something wrong with you, that you're just a "weak link".

The lesson in this episode is that even if everyone else can do something - whether it be flying, walking, or understanding algebra - it doesn't mean that your ability to do it is an evaluation of your worth. In Scootaloo's case, she may be to worst in her town at flying, but she's likely the best in town on her scooter. Why should she be pitied when she's so talented at something she cares more about?

Feeling sad she can not fly does not equal thinking less of her or rating her any lower.

Why do you feel sad for her then?

Because she would very much like to fly but the signs the show presents may suggest that she won't be able to and that makes me sad. It would make her sad as well to find she would never fly, she may get over it and live happy but it is still a sad thought.

I had hoped this would be the episode where she would finally learn to fly. I am sad that she did not. I hope she does learn to fly soon.

I'm kinda glad she didn't learn to fly. If what you call in the episode learning to fly. Scootaloo not have the ability to fly is kinda the only thing that makes her interesting. So I'm fine with how it ended.

Hmm, understandable then.

I personally feel that her wish to fly isn't a true wish...It seems that it stems from her wish to be exactly like Rainbow Dash; she doesn't understand what exactly she admires about Rainbow, so she tries to imitate everything about her. What she really admires is Rainbow's spirit and drive, which she can have even without being "the second Rainbow Dash". She seems to like when Rainbow talks about speed, wind and racing, rather than the flying itself.

I am.

As Dashie said, she may learn to fly, and she may not. She's still awesome! Like you said, I like Scootaloo NOT flying, and she probably will learn to fly someday...but I'm glad it wasn't in this episode.

I am upset and disappointed that Scootaloo did not learn to fly.The Cutie Mark Crusaders haven't changed a bit sense the episode they were first introduced in. I feel as if something needs to happen to them that has a permanent effect on them (Being able to learn to fly, being famous, permanent member, ETC...). If they were to get their Cutiemarks then there'd be no point in having them on the show anymore.....I think a spinoff series or a series replacing Friendship Is Magic with them as some of the main characters would be a great idea....Anyways, I also think having a flightless pony is a good idea. Let's the younger audience learn that it's okay to be different because that's who you are.

I fully understand the point of the episode. That does not make it happy. Scootaloo's dream is to fly one day in the skies like her idol. Not being able to fly means that she would have to accept that her dream is actually physically impossible, which is sad

Whether or not Scootaloo feels self-worth is a different issue from what makes this sad. The fact is that she has dreams, which are not possible if she can't fly, because they rely on her flying. Even if she can get over this fact, which I'm sure she can, it is sad to think that she even has to. It's crushed dreams, and not self-esteem, which makes Scootaloo's situation sad.

Eh, I consider it bittersweet more than anything. All it means is that she would have the chance to find a new dream.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I've known this for a long time, Scootaloo being not able to fly and all. Also, when I say I feel sorry for her I'm not pitying her. I'm sorry, I Just find it hard not to get a little teary eyed when poor little Scootaloo it sitting in her room all alone, crying, and ripping the posters off of her walls. :(

Also, I never cared if she learned to fly or not. Like I said though, I would've preferred if Scootaloo begged Rainbow Dash to teach her to fly, and Rainbow Dash attempted to, and realized that she just can't fly. Rainbow Dash could tell her it's okay, and that she's the best scooter in town so who cares if she can't fly? Alas, maybe I'm just a sucker for Rainbow Dash, and Scootaloo moments. The whole big sister, little sister thing they kind of having going on is so cute.
