I'm confused why would it be bad. I think it looks beautiful O_o... In life when you are given gratitude. Be accepting and thankful of it. It can get really annoying to have nearly every single scene in a movie have lens flare, when have the time; it's unnecessary. Plus, too much of it at one time can make it hard to see what's even going on. Just put lens flare everywhere and make it shiny and boom, you have an amazingly stunning work of art. If you want the bridge of the Enterprise or Normandy to look like a strange, futuristic, just make it look strange and futuristic. And in stuff like Super 8, where the setting and vibe of the movie don't even fit a flare-tastic aesthetic, it feels like window dressing. Blinding, obnoxious window dressing.
