Static Electricity 729 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 A lot of times when someone complains about something minor, other members will say tell xir to stop nitpicking, here is my reason as to why they have every right to nitpick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrBiDELfaKk
Koelath 445 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Most nitpicking is akin to "Pinkie Pie's hair was a slightly darker shade of pink for a single frame!" and you can't just dismiss that with excuses of the created world not being immersive enough. Demirari 454 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Nick picking in my opinion alright. Everyone has the right to nick pick. It may be fun and enjoying for them to nick pick. Sometimes it truly is fun to be nick picky.
SharpWit 2,700 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Nit picking is to complain amount minor details over something with no importance. Unless it's a contract, or something of no importance, or is not being done in fun, it should not be nitpicked because it's just annoying otherwise. Metemponychosis 1,262 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 True. Very true. Nostalgia Critic. @@Static Electricity, Thank you for sharing this with us! 2 https://www.fimfiction.net/user/32864/Metemponychosis For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out. And I'm just getting started.
Scootalove 10,689 December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Everyone does have a right to nitpick, as the Nostalgia Critic stated. Movies usually have a lot of plot holes that are never explained, so it would be better to nitpick if they never explain anything. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
SharpWit 2,700 December 27, 2013 Share December 27, 2013 I did not see the video. Don't know how I missed that. Now that I have seen the video, I would like to with hold my previous statement. Nit picking the way this guy talked about it, perfectly fine. It's those who nit pick over absolutely everything that bugs me. The incessant types,,,
Felix 1,363 December 27, 2013 Share December 27, 2013 (edited) I don't care if other people nitpick, that's them. It annoys me when people take those nitpicks and shove them in people's faces. I watch a movie/TV show because I want to enjoy it. If people intentionally tell you things that are wrong with the movie/TV show then I can't enjoy it because I'll start seeing it for the bad things rather than the good and it becomes a pending problem. More precisely, if you say a movie/TV show is good but your friend disagrees with you because they have their nitpicking reasons, it gets annoying because they then want you to hate the movie/TV show because they hate it for reasons you didn't notice before that they want you to notice. If it's to themselves or in a topic that which is appropriate for discussing such matters it's fine. Just keep those nitpicks away from those that'd rather not see them, is all. To force others to agree with those facts they'd rather not see is a bit of a stretch. That's taking it both too seriously and too far in my opinion. Gone Airbourne 21,977 December 27, 2013 Share December 27, 2013 He brought up a lot of great points and it is good to see the flaws of things and not only praise something alone. But I do think there comes a fine line where nitpicking can go way to far as well.
Fluttermena 1,223 December 27, 2013 Share December 27, 2013 "As a discussion of a creative work grows longer, the probability of some ass whining about “overanalyzing” approaches 1." - Moff's Law It really annoys the hell out of me when people complain about nitpicking. I don't obssess over canon and minor details because I'm some joyless dork, I do it because it's fun. I love worldbuilding, developping continuity, and analyzing canon. In every discussion, there's always that jerk who thinks that just because he doesn't like obssessing over that stuff, it means that anyone who does it isn't looking at a fictional work the correct way.
hawkflame 3,310 December 29, 2013 Share December 29, 2013 Every time I hear about people complaining about nitpickers, I'm reminded of this Calvin and Hobbes comic: Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite!
ChoroChii 284 December 30, 2013 Share December 30, 2013 It just annoys me when people keep pointing out random things that don't even matter, while I'm trying to enjoy myself.
