Self-explanitory-I've decided to do OC reviews! I'm new at this, so i'll try my best to add constructive criticism. The reviews will be in three categories: Appearance, personality, and backstory.

 

Appearance: Too simple, very simple, simple, medium, medium-complex and complex are the categories for appearance. Too simple means that your character design needs more added to it-maybe another color or a unique trait. Complex means it probably needs to be simplified.

 

Personality: Make sure your character's personality is clear. If they have an alter ego,make sure it's not too confusing.

 

Backstory: Great, well-thought out back stories always score high.

OC: Blue Moon

 

Appearance: Simple

 

First of all:the design. It makes sense that he would be a unicorn, because he's an astronomer. Because his name is 'Blue Moon' and he studies the stars, shouldn't his colors be more based off of the night sky? Your character's main color is a light blue when, if anything, it should be darker. Then, you could make the cutie mark white or a light blue, hence the name. (By the way, I like the name.) However, I kind of like the eye color. Nights in Equestria-or at least Ponyvile-are dark purple, so it would go along with a night color theme. Overall, I think the design could have been better, but it's still O.K.

 

Rating: 7/10

 

Personality: You should probably simplify what you put for personality, because part of it goes off topic. A good way to simplify it would be like:

 

"Blue Moon loves reading and studying the sky. Astronomy was his main activity when he was a colt. He never put much time into learning magic and thus, only knew basic spells. Despite his lack of magical knowledge, Blue Moon is smart. He also be stubborn at times, but he's also very kind."

 

I'm sure you could do better than that, but that's the idea. Anyway, you said he only knew the basics in magic. Doesn't astronomy take advanced magic?

 

 

 

Backstory: As you've mentioned, it's pretty normal. This is an 8, because it's not over done, but it's very average.
